Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Hello, Just wanted everyone to post their predictions for the Box Office run of Matrix : Reloaded. The first Matrix pulled in $27,788,331 on its opening weekend on its way to a $171,479,930 US gross and almost 500 mil world wide. This alone would make you think that the second film is going to do huge business, BUT also add in the fact that the Matrix DVD was the highest selling DVD ever for a long time. That means that there are probably a ton of new Matrix fans out there. I think that the film is going to do monster business, Spiderman like monster business. So I'll start with my predictions (I'm sure some will disagree) Opening Weekend: 85-90 Million US Gross: 350-375 Million Worldwide Gross: 700 Million
Guest Urine Sane Report post Posted April 28, 2003 It will open and set a new record. I think it will pass 1 billion in sales overall.
Guest mach7 Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I'm going to echo your predictions. The anticipation and trailer alone have people buzzing about it everywhere I go. I haven't heard one person say they're not going to see it.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I think everyone's going to high. Does anyone know if it's PG13 or R rated? Cause the first one was R and if the others are then it won't touch those numbers.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted April 28, 2003 It is Rated R.
Guest Youth N Asia Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Then it won't make that kind of money...I'll be there opening weekend myself though. I am geared to see it
Guest WhenDanSaysJump Report post Posted April 28, 2003 All I know is that I'm creaming my pants with anticpiation. *squirms*
Guest Mole Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Yup, R rated movies don't make as much as PG-13 movies do. Why do you think that 'summer blockbuster movies' are PG-13? So they can make more money so little kiddies can go see it. Matrix will make $30 million in the opening weekend, maybe. And $170 all together.
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 28, 2003 That would be less than the original Molestomp, on both counts. I just can't see that happening. I really expect big things.
The Dames 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Mole, 30 million for the Matrix? You've got to be kidding me. AT LEAST 60 million. If 8 Mile made 55 million as a Rated R movie, Matrix will definitely beat the shit out of it. Dames
Guest razazteca Report post Posted April 28, 2003 $40 Million opening weekend it will make $100 million in 3 weeks.
Guest mach7 Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I'll be there opening weekend myself though. I am geared to see it Ditto. That trailer has me itching. The jump-onto-the-hood-of-the-car part of the trailer! DAMN!
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Mole, 30 million for the Matrix? You've got to be kidding me. AT LEAST 60 million. If 8 Mile made 55 million as a Rated R movie, Matrix will definitely beat the shit out of it. Dames I agree.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted April 28, 2003 60 million opening weekend, breaks 100 mill within a two week period.
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I'm really bad at just making estimates like this, but I'll say that regardless of the R-Rating, Matrix Reloaded will make alot more than the original did, and will definately set some kind of record.
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 28, 2003 I mean...for the sheer fact that it has perhaps the best trailer in a while. It just gets me so pumped up. I can't wait to see it. The whole storyline of the Matrix is something that I find quite spectacular and I think full credit has to be given to the Wochehowski (sp?) brothers for the great story they put together. Apparently, they had a trilogy planned all along. The only reason the first movie had an ending that is plausible as a definite end is the fact that they weren't going to get greenlighted for the 2nd and 3rd movie if the first one wasn't successful. Now, apparently, they get to bring their whole vision to the screen because of the success of the first one. I am pumped beyond belief.
Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Fuck This "Oooh Look at our Unrealistic Special Effects and shoddy storylines"... If there is a God...It Bombs. The fact people have been creaming for Kenau Reeves is downright SICKENING!
Guest Mik at Cornell Report post Posted April 28, 2003 Are you trying to add another +1 on your quest to 25,000? Cause that's the most retarded thing I've heard in awhile. You might not like Keanu (I don't even) but to say shoddy storyline is just rediculous. A lot of thought and effort was put in to the Matrix storyline and it's incredibly creative. And if you think the special effects are so shitty then go ahead and name me five movies that have better? Doubtful you'll be able to do that without some bullshit. Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 28, 2003 i NEVER said Shitty...Just unrealistic... Matrix Bored the shit out of me...I watched it three times and just went "I've seen this before" and never got enthused about it...
Guest Marshall Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Spiderman made 114 million on the opening weekend, I'll say 100 milllion or more. A lot of people will see it 3 times in the first weekend.
Guest EQ Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Hmm... I don't know if it will do as good as Spidey, but it's very, very possible. The only thing is that Spidey was a brand-new movie, but it was still about a character that just about EVERYONE is familiar with. So, more people probably went to see it. Since this is a sequel to Matrix, I would assume that the crazy people who saw Matrix and didn't like it are going to skip this, while they may have given Spidey a chance. But then you also have the people who just don't like the Spider-Man character and because of that skipped the Spidey movie, so who knows if my logic makes any sense. Guest Flyboy Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Why the hell are we talking about Matrix Reloaded? Although it ain't gonna shatter any records, X-Men 2 comes out Friday.

Guest Lethargic Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Matrix Bored the shit out of me...I watched it three times and just went "I've seen this before" and never got enthused about it... If you watched it three time then you HAD seen it before. At least twice.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 29, 2003 I wanna find the "Anti-Matrix Reloaded" site that I saw, probably last week. It had some funny reasons why you shouldn't go see it.. I don't think Im going to go see it, as I really didn't like the first one.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted April 29, 2003 (edited) 50 Reasons to Reject the Matrix: Reloaded (purely satire, a joke, not real...etc, but sill funny) My favorite 5 reasons: 3: I'm dreaming of a white... cast? Two actors were abruptly cut from the sequel cast before production ended, both female minorities. Coincidence? Aaliyah and Gloria Foster were unceremonially dropped after shooting some scenes for the sequel. What's wrong, guys? They didn't test well with the predominantly white Matrix audiences? Neither actress could be reached for comment. They are both dead.. 6: Reloaded Ridiculousness Think you're missing something special by staying home? Think again. Several times in the sequel Neo is seen flying at almost supersonic speeds. NASA experiments prove that such a velocity would tear a man's genitals off. 23 Two words: Keanu Reeves. 24 Two more words: See above 39 Grow up The policeman in the opening scene of the first film? Look on the credits and you'll see he's billed as Lt. Geyser Shitdick. Infantile. 47 Also consider... Keanu Reeves I didn't think Keanu Reeves was horrible in the first one, but Im sure they could have found someone else.. Guest Choken One Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Matrix Bored the shit out of me...I watched it three times and just went "I've seen this before" and never got enthused about it... If you watched it three time then you HAD seen it before. At least twice. The first time was because I brought into the hype... The second time was during a Drive in where it was the first feauture... and the 3rd time was because It was on HBO at 5 o clock and I was bored...
Guest C.H.U.D. Report post Posted April 29, 2003 I can't believe it will be rated R. Every horror movie these days is edited down to a PG-13 rating so it can make extra cash, yet they go with R for a huge movie like Matrix Reloaded? Not that I'm complaing, it just seems weird. Guest Vyce Report post Posted April 29, 2003 C'mon, Choken. "It's too unrealistic!" You sound like those losers who whine about Star Wars. "There shouldn't be any explosions, because everyone knows that space is a vacuum and there's no sound in space and the ships would likely implode rather than explode and......" I'm not going into the film expecting Ben Hur, I'm expecting to see insane martial arts fights, lots of shit getting shot up, and the actors (even Keanu, damnit) breaking all of the laws of conventional physics. I could fucking care less if it's realistic. Matrix is gonna be huge, 80 million opening weekend. (X-Men will do fine as well, 60 mill first weekend) Oh, and I mark for the Evil Albino Twins. Guest mach7 Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Fuck This "Oooh Look at our Unrealistic Special Effects and shoddy storylines"... If there is a God...It Bombs. The fact people have been creaming for Kenau Reeves is downright SICKENING! Unrealistic? Uhm. Most sci-fi flicks are.... As for Keanu.. well, I have to agree there. Why they'd choose the worst actor this side of Sandra Bullock to star in this series is beyond me. I mean, isn't 'Johnny Moronic' proof enough? But. Regardless of Keanu, I'm still pumped to see it.
