Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Being and RPG mark almost as long as a wrestling mark, I thought I would ask the question. I loved playing Baldur's Gate: Deadly Alliance on the PS2. And the replay value isn;t *too* bad, considering that you can always retry the story line in order to get better magical weapons, which are downright insane on the extreme level. Toss in the level warp code and you could skip around to better areas. I play the game right now just to max out the characters I use, currently the dwarf and the human archer. Playing the sorceress is a pain, but once you get ball lightning, you own all who stand against you. I've seen pics of D&D Heroes, which is made by Snowblind Studios, the same company that made BG:DA. From what I have seen, it has a lot of promise, and four players can play this time around.... it gives hope to BG:DAII, which I think is coming out in November. Questions? Comments? Guest The Notorious CRD Report post Posted April 29, 2003 I too enjoyed Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance a great deal and am really looking forward to the sequel. My favorite character was the sorceress ironically enough, although unlocking Drizzt Do'Urden was very cool since I'm a fan R.A. Salvatore's series of books about him and his adventures. Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2003 After going through all of the hell to make him a playable character, I found that unlocking Drizzt was more than a little disappointing... you cannot change his weapons, which are average at best, through you can trick him out with armor and magic items.... I was quite disappointed by it... though I mark for Salvatore as an author, just being able to play Drizzt is not quite enough for me.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted April 29, 2003 Drizzt's weapons aren't all that because they're literary devices used to advance his story. The frostbrand isn't all that useful in a game, but it's been important several times in the books. Ditto the +5 Defender, which is a middling magical sword in game terms, but serves Drizzt well within the confines of the novels.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Oh I know... it serves him well in the books, but in the game it doesn't do much. The novelty of playing Drizzt wore off after about 15 minutes.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I enjoyed the PC games over the PS2 version, but I liked the ending. And it was a game even my better half enjoyed playing...
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 its fun to play two player mode, working as a team... my girlfriend and I used to play all the time, her with her maxed-out sorceress, me with my near maxed out dwarf..... the only problem is that whats-her-name at the end is near impossible on the extreme level. Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted April 30, 2003 We got through once with me being the Dwarf and she being archer. We started a game with Sorceress/Dwarf roles, but we never finished. You know you found the right one when you can sit down and play video games with her (PC Diablo II, PS2 racing games). Now if she would only become interested in Madden...
