Some thoughts, opinions, and answers to some questions for your Edgeucation today, folks.

Before I get started I'd like to mention that I heard from a very reliable "source" (Bruce Prichard) that Bradshaw and Test lost a handicap tennis match to an 8-year-old girl playing with one hand holding a bag in Houston this week! According to my "source"(Bruce Pritchard), both Superstars were visibly winded, and better yet, Test tried to jump the net and fell on his face! I wish it were recorded. Stick to rasslin, boys!

Ok let's do the neck update. Nothing significant, still training and feeling completely inadequate going to the gym with Alanah, who has a figures competition coming up on May 17th. She looks phenomenal, while I look....well quite a bit less than phenomenal (the dreaded skinny fat guy). I am up to four miles a day on cardio, though. Went to Livestock 13 down here in Tampa this weekend. It's a weekend long campout concert. I went Saturday to check out Stone Sour, 3 Doors Down, Godsmack, and the real reason: Def Leppard (yes, I'm old). The rest of the bands were actually pretty boring. Sounded good though. I was on stage (at the side) for the Leppard concert, and it was great. I met guitarist Phil Collen after, who seemed like a class act. All in all, a good, but tiring time.

On to the mailbag…

People want to know who I'd like to wrestle when I come back. The great and positive thing about this injury is that I'll be a fresh face when I come back. I could resume feuds with Angle, Guerrero, Jericho or Christian. Those guys are always at the top of my list when it comes to opponents, but here's a list of people who I've never done a singles program with, that I'd love to wrestle.

Chris Benoit

Who in this business wouldn't want to work him? We've wrestled each other countless times, on house shows in singles, and mostly tags on TV, and it was fun. I know it would be good, aggressive and physical. I'd relish the opportunity to go against Chris on some pay-per-views.

Triple H

I can hear the Internet booing now. You know what I say? Screw that. I know Hunter and I could put on a hell of a match and program together, and we've never done it. He'd give me time to sell properly, and more than anyone else right now, I'd like to face him.

Rhyno

The most under-utilized man in the business right now. I'd love to get my hands on him (and I mean that in a manly way!). We've faced each other throughout the indies, and twice for WWE (beat ya both times, Manbeast. Not that I'm counting or anything). It would be a pleasure.

Lance Storm

Worked a quick angle (1:08) for the IC Title and it was a blast. We clicked right away, and he's on a short list of favorite opponents, as

well as a great friend.

Chief Morley

Very underrated, but one of the best all-around Superstars we have. Plus I'd get to beat the hell out of my brother-in-law. Can't beat that!

Undertaker

Really think we could take what he and Jeff Hardy did to higher levels. While doing my cardio I think alot, and I've pictured what Taker and I could do in a singles match. This match has never happened. We've been in tags, but never singles.

Brock Lesnar

Another guy I clicked with right away. I know what we can do together, but it's never been done on TV.

Shawn Michaels

One of my gurus. It would be amazing to step in there with him, or Flair at least once.

Hulk Hogan

I've done everything but stand across the ring from him. I'd love to feed that Hulk-Up.

Matt Hardy

The complete evolution for us. Tags to singles. The Edge Addicts vs. the MFers. But no more ladder matches (please).

John Cena

I could really play off the white rap thing, character wise. We could have some backstage antics like Kurt and I did. We also clicked in the ring on the few occasions it happened.

Randy Orton

Never wrestled each other, but I know it would be fun. What's weird is that I'd be the grizzled veteran in a lot of these matches. Yikes!

RVD & Rey Mysterio

Rey and I are better off as a team as we've proven. I think it would be the same for RVD and me. You can't fight everybody. You gotta have some friends!

Basically I have a promotion full of guys I can work with when I come back and I honestly feel the sky's the limit. Only 10 and a half more months, but who's counting?

Time to dip into the Edge-sack again (no dirty comments please).

Probably the most asked question I receive in my e-mails is how do I get started in the business? The answer to that is relatively simple: get trained. That leads to the inevitable question of where do I train? That becomes the tough part to answer. In any given state or province there could be a dozen schools. They could be good, they could be atrocious, I'll never know.

I was trained by Sweet Daddy Siki and Ron Hutcheson at Sully's Gym in Toronto way back in '92. I was trained the right way. Now many people have claimed to train the ol' Edgemeister, but Siki and Ron are the two who can lay claim. They also trained Christian and Trish, among many others. I've been fortunate to get tips and help from some of the best: Bret Hart, Dory Funk, and every experienced guy I've gotten in the ring with. What I'm trying to get at is

you have to go to the school and see for yourself. I've been receiving e-mails that Ron does not do the training at Sully's anymore. If he's not, I can't recommend there, if he is, go for it. Anyone else there I cannot vouch for, but Ron, I can.

A former indy compatriot and great friend of mine, Rob "El Fuego" Etchevarria, has opened a school in T.O., called Squared Circle Training. He has great facilities, and is a hands-on trainer, the most important ingredient to being trained properly. Other than this advice I don't know what to tell all the Edgeheads looking to fill my boots. Just don't do it in a backyard, that's stupid, and you'll get laughed at by promoters. Go to a school. We get hurt, and we know what we're doing. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to afford a proper wrestling school.

Another question that I get asked often is where is Gangrel? For those who hopped on the wrestling bandwagon just recently, Gangrel was one-third of a group with Christian and myself called The Brood. We had the best entrance in wrestling ever. At least in my humble and biased opinion. We had a great time teaming together. We were a modern day Lost Boys-type gimmick. He's an awesome person with a heart of gold, who I still e-mail with. He's still doing his thing on the indies today.

This brings me to another friend, and that's Jeff Hardy. I've been flooded with questions about what happened. I don't know much, but I do know it was an amicable split. Does he still love the business. Yes, just not as much as he used to. Read the Hardy's book and you'll see. I can't really speak for Jeff, but I do know he was sick of all the crap regarding him on the ‘net, so I won't add to it. I'll never forget the moments we had in the ring. Take care buddy, we had some fun.

Until next week, you have been Edgeucated.

HA! He played up the Storm 1:08 'net catchphrase.

I still remember the HHH/Edge confrontation where he said "Win a couple of World Titles and come back to me." Knowing WWE, they'd never play up on it though. Edge saying that he could play with Cena's character does worry me though, because it would just be Edge insulting and putting down Cena, like he did with a lot of heels once he started his singles run. An Edge/Matt Hardy feud would actually do wonders for Matt, since Edge is more established now.

Another quality column by Adam, i really think his injury could be a blessing in disguise, because when he comes back, he can come back with a new look: a haircut would freshen him up maybe, i'd like to see him maybe change his attire, the whole tights and boots look is very mid-cardish. But most importantly of all if he wants to achive ME status he will be coming back with a bigger build that Vince looks for in the ME players.

Geez, those guys are useless.

Triple H

Translation: You know that I can't say certain things for fear of being buried when I return, so I won't come out and say anything incriminating. I think I'd be able to carry him to a good match and have a decent angle.

See, wrestlers do care about what we think on the net.

Wow, these columns make me like Edge more than just about any angle they've ever pulled with him.

Somebody explain the 1:08 gag. I missed out on it somehow.

Great Education. I'm reading and learning a lot. Great stuff.

...

...

Wait a minute.

You mean to say that the WWE actually listened to us in some fashion or form? Excuse me, but WTF? The WWE is actually going to listen to its "hardcore" fans? I mean, first it was Raw, but now also Hardy (I know that's not the right order, bite me).

Has hell frozen over? And Lucifer actually turned into God?

1:08 refers to the match time Edge and Lance had together (which I believe was in MSG which was for the IC title).

It's all documented on storms site.

I really enjoy these Edgucation articles, Edge is able to balance being a wrestler and being a fan and all of that with being on the internet and not sounding condescending.

Yeah, MUCH better than the Hoss Report.

I thought 1:08 was the match length of Storm's accidental job to Funaki? :P

I'm almost positive about that.

I'm sure Anglesault isn't shocked at the comments on Test's athletic ability.

I agree with the part on Morely. I'm becoming a Morely mark. He takes a bland character and really makes it isn't something cool. He's a hell of a lot better actor than most of the guys on the roster.

Although I don't see what good Edge thinks being squashed by Taker will do for anybody.

Forget to kick out??? I don't mean to sound stupid but how does a trained professional forget to do something like that? That would be like a fire fighter forgetting to take his hoses with him

Didn't He forget to kick out or something?

Something like that. Awkward pinning predicament, and Funaki got him for the 3.

It's more common then you think...

Even Jesus Junior (Angle) done this...

The only time I've ever heard about something like this is in Have A Nice Day when DDP jobbed because Nash was late to break up a pin

But in retrospect I guess I've seen a few 3 1/2 counts in matches before there's a kick out.

Yeah, I've noticed it a lot.

Times where I swear the ref's hand hit the mat 3 times--they count it as 2.

An X-Pac/Gangrel match at--King of the Ring 99--I think, had a clear 3 count but Teddy Long ignored it becuase they messed up a spot.

The Storm 1:08 IS NOT about the job to Funaki.

It IS about his match with Edge. It's on his site, buried in the comment board.

Another good article from Edge. I like how he combines being a wrestler and being a fan.

I think that it was good that he recommends getting trained properly and not going through backyard wrestling.

So he's a smart guy. I have never talked to anyone who doesn't think that backyard wrestling is bullshit. Like Mick Foley said. "Next time make a video of your dad kicking your ass for ruining the yard. It will be more entertaining" Well something like that....pretty close quote I think

yeah, I remember Foley saying something like that. And I think that seeing how the North Carolina boys got started with backyard wrestling (Hardys, Moore, Helms), some people might think it's a good idea, so recommending not doing it is smart.

While The Hardyz and Shannon and the Hurricane started off with backyard wrestling I think they did it in a fairly intelligent maner. How much backyard wrestling is a 'match' compared to people doing stupid shit, taking huge bumps and hitting each other with various breakable objects.

I did "backyard wrestling", but it was mostly focusing on our insanely retarded, yet expertly written characters.

Indeed from Storm's message board:

from: kyle carlin

email: [email protected]

storm 1:08?

Hi. I've been coming to this site for a couple monthes now, but i guess i missed out on something. I seem to have missed the whole meaning of Storm 1:08. If i could just get an explanation i would be extremely happy.

One of a Kind

KC Cane

PS--Lance Storm Rules

I had an IC title match with Edge that went 1:08. Someone mentioned i should change my line to "If I can be serious for a minute and8 seconds" From that Storm 1:08 was born.

Lance

Also on the Funaki incident:

TV, at least for me, as you’ve likely read on-line, was a disaster. The finish of my match got screwed up and even when the office tries to put me over I end up doing a job. I wrestled Funaki and during one of our near falls something got screwed up and I got pinned. I’m not sure if I just miss heard the count or whether the bell ringer miss heard it and rang the bell early but things didn’t go as planned and I got pined with a sunset flip.
