Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted April 30, 2003 "Maybe they will have a O'Haire/Hogan match, excuse me, Mr. American match at Judgement Day. Hogan, hopefully, will put O'Haire over. Well that is what I would book, but why would a fan know what they are doing when it comes to writing shows...?" I like that. Keeps Hogan out of the ring--although we'll still have Sucky Overrated Hoss to watch. Besides, Hogan isn't exactly in danger of losing any heat from that. Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 um, its better to say not at all.... a comedy twist to the Machines/Midnight Rider angle.... sounds good to me, even though I won't see a recap until Velocity on Saturday night.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 They never took the Al Wilson angle seriously either... And HOLY FUCK did they give it a lot of time. This is the same.

LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I think Kendrick only used the Spanky name for that skit with Cena. Sounds like he was just calling himself that while he was mocking Cena's rap gimmick and at the same time paying homage to his old wrestling name.
Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted April 30, 2003 It's official: Smackdown is just as bad as Raw now.....NOOOOOOOOO. And there were actually people on here that were glad when Heyman was demoted!?!
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Anyone else get the vibe that they are gonna do this Mr.American mask business for a solid Month With McMahon Piper and Ohaire trying unmask him but never quite doing it, and at the PPV Mr. American wrestles Ohaire and Ohaire beats him and Vince and lot finally Unmasks him... and its ED LESLIE! and then Hogan comes down the ramp and old man like beats the hell out of vince, while Brutus knocks down Ohaire and cuts his hair...... Guest RedJed Report post Posted April 30, 2003 It's official: Smackdown is just as bad as Raw now.....NOOOOOOOOO. And there were actually people on here that were glad when Heyman was demoted!?! I know, I was baffled by it back then and I am still to this day. Even if you hate the guy for whatever reasons, I think its crystal clear than he was doing a hell of a lot better with character development and week to week booking than what we've seen lately from Smackdown. Its turned just like Raw, basically. Even the top stars of the show are lukewarm at best now and have no purpose.

Guest Zack Malibu Report post Posted April 30, 2003 The Mr. America gimmick could be Heyman's doing. It's a total ECW knockoff of Rick Rude's debut. For those unfamiliar, back in the beginning of '97, a mysterious masked man showed up at ECW Arena to confront Shane Douglas. As soon as he uttered his first words, the crowd popped huge. There was no mistaking his voice for that of Ravishing Rick. ECW realized it had shot itself in the foot by having Rude cut a promo, so it started acknowledging the mysterious masked man as Rude. Douglas said he knew it was Rude in his promo's...hell Joey Styles even used to sarcastically say "Will the masked man, whom no one is quite sure who he is coughRICKRUDEcough make an appearance?" The angle played out to where Douglas would face Pit Bull #2 in a (now infamous) match at Barely Legal, where if Shane won, Rude would have to show his face to the world. Douglas won, and the mask was put on Brian Lee as a swerve, while Rude jumped Douglas from behind, clad as a riot squad member. So, it looks like they are making it obvious that it's Hogan, but expect some type of swerve down the line. If the Luger rumors are true, he seems like the perfect fit to throw us for a loop. Bored 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I hope the name change also equals a change in character as well because Kendrick's bouncing babyface routine is just so annoying and honestly I've been unimpressed by him in the ring so far. Don't quite see the big deal about him to this point. Oh and as for Team Angle, neither is a great singles wrestler at this point (Benjamin is good and could be great one day) but as a tag team they work great and they certainly don't suck. Guest Sakura Report post Posted April 30, 2003 What's the difference between Kendrick and Spanky?
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I didn't say that they suck (ok, they do, but not against a top wrestlers like Benoit and Guerrero - though I would put Benjamin WAY atop the "going to be huge someday" ladder) it's just the Ladder Match is something foreign to them, and the Guerreros won't necessarily be able to carry them in it. I can't imagine either guy being a Jeff Hardy in this match, or even a Christian (or Edge/Matt for that matter). They're green, they may be too nervous and be careless. Bored 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Just saw a different spoiler report where the guy took down match times. The only match he didn't have a time for the Benoit/Rhyno vs. FBI tag match (splooged his pants when Benoit came out?), at any rate the women's tag match gets almost as much time as the Guerreros/Mattitude match and the longest match of the night was the Velocity match between A-Train and DeMott. Those poor people in New Hampshire.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted April 30, 2003 If Mr. America is revealed to be Nathan Jones, it will be the best angle of all time. Show looks like ass though. Lots of Big Show, lots of Steph, lots of Hogan/Piper, lots of women, and a jobber squash (not Funaki). And how could I forget the now obligatory Brock interview. Fun to see if Kendrick revives the Spanky character. PS - Crash is the A-Train of the cruiserweights.
Bored 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 PS - Crash is the A-Train of the cruiserweights. HA! Just wait till Scotty Too Hotty gets back which is apparantly is that far off as he'll be going to OVW soon.
Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Kinda strange they go from Repo Man debuting the Crowbar, the original Ankle lock... to Ken Shamrock's Reverse Ankle lock, which becomes the Ankle lock, though his was cooler with the Fujiwar armbar like Takedown into a Anklelock Too Kurt Angle's Ankle lock which when seen snapping the likes of Scotty to Hotty and bending the limb backwards like the Rock and Benoit, it seems much more violent.. sooo who gets to inherit this Masterpiece of a submission.... DAWN MARIE! lord have mercy
Guest CanadianChris Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Brock Lesnar arrives. Stephanie wonders why he is there. Yeah, why the hell would the Smackdown world champion bother showing up for Smackdown? I don't get that one myself.
Guest nikowwf Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Poor Guerreros...being asked to do a freaking ladder match with team angle (nothing against them, but they are not seasoned veterans yet) on a ppv which will be totally sucktacular and no one will see. niko
Guest bradolson Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Maybe they are going back to the old days with these jobber matches, i.e. have the stars beat jobbers on free TV and save the star vs star matches for PPV to get more buys. I don't think it will work anymore though.
