Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Maybe they are going back to the old days with these jobber matches, i.e. have the stars beat jobbers on free TV and save the star vs star matches for PPV to get more buys. I don't think it will work anymore though. I'd rather them stop using Heat and Velcity as mostly recap shows and tack on another hour to have stars beat local indis
Guest bravesfan Report post Posted April 30, 2003 On a side note, if you stop painting the B-show jobbers as simple "jobbers", while instead harping on their independent success (London, Shane, AmDragon, etc.), you'll have the fans buying into a DeMott/London match as much more of a "competition", than a simple DeMott squash. McMahon and the WWE has to realize, that he can't build new talent by himself: he needs the assistance of other promotions (ROH, for one) to keep an influx of young stars in the promotion. In return, ROH will acquire a bit of notoriety from the inquisitive fan. But I agree: focus on bringing in more Indy wrestlers, while saving your big match-ups for a high-profile event or PPV, will keep the angles and matches fresh in the audiences' eyes. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I want to redo that wrestling survey. There's no way I'm going to pay $35 for a Smackdown only PPV. - Cena has been demoted to feuding with Spanky. - Benoit and Rhyno are feuding with the FBI? - Mattitude is being lost in the shuffle while Smackdown concentrates on Sble/Torrie and Piper/Mr. America. BTW. why would Stephanie hire and debut someone on her show, if she has never met them? Wait, I'm actually thinking and that has no business in the wrestling world. Guest Trivia247 Report post Posted April 30, 2003 Well at least the WWE does make good on local feds...Chaotic Wrestling Thanked the WWE profusely for using their guys this week.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted April 30, 2003 I think the only good thing to come out of this week's show is that they actually set up a couple of PPV matches a month before the show.

I don't think it will work anymore though. Yeah now is not the time to do that. If their writing was more interesting and if interest was much higher than it is now, I could see them going back to certain roots of things. But this is damn near the worst time to slowly bring back squash matches into both shows (which they have done now as of this week). It pisses me off how everything that is implimented on one show lately now seems REQUIRED to be copied on the other. Squashes, Pipers Pit into Jerichos deal, etc. All I can hope is these surveys they have distributed around lately work in the long term because as of right now, I don't think theres been a time where I'm been so hopeless on the product............it just seems really bleak. The next ppv is going to be horrid beyond words, and then what........we get split ppvs involving characters that are all damn near currently house the same stale foundation. And on top of it all, we get Austin v. Bischoff GM wars, and I will bet we might even see Vince v. Steph now on Smackdown on top of Hogan v. Piper.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Report post Posted May 1, 2003 One segment that got added was a brief thing on Kurt Angle, and about his neck, but it was nothing really new. The referee that gave Spanky a beat was pretty funny, even doing sound effects when Spanky was scratching Cena's head. Spanky had on this funny blue outift with a big clock hanging on a chain around his neck. The only other thing of note, and some might know this if it was brought up at the PPV, but Cenas "Death Valley Driver" is now called the F-U, mocking Lesnars F-5.. Matt Facts were lame: Have you read Matt Hardy's new book? and Matt Hardy invented Mattitude. The whole Mr. America thing is funny to start but got lame as it went on (in my opinion)..Piper having a complete hissy fit was probably the funniest part of it all. And Mr America shoving the flag pole down his pants so he could pose and flex...just wierd... All in all a REALLY..REALLY..REALLY..lame show.
