The Dames Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I read a little something about this... Keep in mind this is JUST a rumor but .... Jason Vorhees as a child was an Elm Street kid. Freddy tormented his mind as a child and when Jason drowned at Crystal Lake, since he was practically brain dead, Freddie became the mind behind the machete. Dames
Guest creativename Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I wish to God that Michael Myers was with New Line Cinemas. I could just imagine Freddy and Jason going at it, then right before they finish their fight, Michael busts in and takes them both on, and leaves them in a bloody mess. The film would then end with Michael walking into the darkness, as the Halloween theme begins. Wrestling fans and their run-ins "skinny boy" Freddy is smart and quick..."hoss" Jason is a mindless zombie. It's the same as Batman vs. Superman. Are you out of your mind!? Batman's a regular guy, Superman is a freakin' GOD--how in the world is that even remotely similar to two supernatural, essentially immortal beings going at it? (Not to mention the fact that Superman is well beyond fucking "quick") Sorry if that sounded rude or something, but that line really just made me go
Guest El Satanico Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Well, I wasn't saying that their situations or stories are the same. Freddy vs. Jason is like Batman vs. Superman, because alot of people assume Jason and Superman would easily defeat Freddy and Batman just because they're bigger and stronger.
Guest Urine Sane Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 ::looks at the difference in height between Freddy and Jason in the picture:: So what was all that noise about Kane Hodder being too big and hulking to play the part correctly? Christ, this guy looks even more massive. Also, how much you wanna bet that the movie does some really lame storyline copout where the main heroes are some teenagers and J&F are just fighting in the background most of the time? I read somewhere that the director wanted Jason to look more sympathetic, something about the eyes, or some shit like that. They wanted a Jason that could be more of a hero.....or stuff.
Guest creativename Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Well, I wasn't saying that their situations or stories are the same. Freddy vs. Jason is like Batman vs. Superman, because alot of people assume Jason and Superman would easily defeat Freddy and Batman just because they're bigger and stronger. Of course everyone's going to assume Supes would defeat Batsy--again, it's regular Joe Human vs. God. I highly doubt most people would assume Jason vs. Freddy was a mismatch in Jason's favor, though. If anything, I think people would expect Freddy to win, because he has a more nefarious power (invading dreams) that seems tough for Jason to combat. Though I think if you had a poll on "who is expected to win", it would be kind of even. The only reason Jason seems favored to win, in my eyes, is because he's superficially the underdog--and, thus, the "face" in a sense. It seems people find Jason more "rootable" than Freddy, so he'll probably "win", if either guy does (clearly, it would be a sequel-foreshadowing semi-victory, if anything). In any case, Supes vs. Batsy is a mismatch of absurd proportions (yes, Kryptonite would level the playing field--but then, average Joe Shmuck could level the playing field against Superman with a Kyrptonite gun; if it was a realistic movie, Supes would just doge the bullets anyway, but Superman is booked quite poorly most of the time--he never seems to use his powers to their logical extent). Most people would not think Jason vs. Freddy was a mismatch at all--or, more likely, lots of people would think it was a mismatch, except they'd disagree in more or less equal proportions on exactly who was far stronger than whom.
Guest Seth Willson Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 This post is if the Jason/Freddy being able to control him rumor isn't true... If i remember correctly from the 10 Friday the 13th Movies..Jason Never sleeps...so If Freddy Kills By dreams... how will Freddy Kill Jason? seems as if Jason is Superman here and That Freddy is Batman if you ask me...
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I know I've said this before...but Superman can not defeat Batman. Period. If he did the entire comic world would be destroyed. As soon as thay happens the super humans become more important than the humans and it all loses it's connection with the reader. Batman will always win.

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 Well...I guess Superman could win...It just wouldn't be the same. It's like brain vs. brawn. That's how it's like Freddy vs. Jason.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 It's not that Bats would win. I would've just thought Bats vs. Supes would in in a stalemate. At least, that's how I'd prefer it.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 It's like brain vs. brawn. That's how it's like Freddy vs. Jason. Yes...that's exactly how i meant it.
Guest J*ingus Posted May 5, 2003 Report Posted May 5, 2003 I've read comics where Supes and Bats tangle on three occasions, and Batman pretty much won all three of them. (Though admittedly two of them took place in Frank Miller's "what if" Dark Knight future universe.)

Iust bought a Crystal Ball: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Right after all of this JR will push for both men to be signed to the WWE. Freddy will be stuck on Velocity, and after being squashed by HHH, Jason will beat up jobbers at the beginning of Raw, and feud with Test over Stacy Keibler for some reason. Both men will be payed a total of $50 million.
Guest creativename Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I've read comics where Supes and Bats tangle on three occasions, and Batman pretty much won all three of them. (Though admittedly two of them took place in Frank Miller's "what if" Dark Knight future universe.) Superman always jobs to Batman, and it's the most pathetically unrealistic thing ever. Remember in the cartoon crossover movie a few years back, Bruce Wayne actually had a thing with Lois Lane. I mean, Supes' girl had the hots for him! You can't possibly get more disrespectful than that. It's really a shame, because it makes no sense whatsoever. Superman operates on a completely different scale than Batman--Batman tries to stop crime in a big city, Superman saves civilizations from tyrannic galactic despots. The two are not comparable, and Superman vs. Batman makes no sense. It's just that both guys have lots of fanboys...however, the Power that Be have always seemed to be Batman fanboys, rather than Superman fanboys. It's just like I said with Jason vs. Freddy, and what bps said about the human having to beat the alien: Batman is superficially the underdog, thus he'll have to be the favorite. Hmmm. Maybe Jason vs. Freddy is more like Batman vs. Superman than I initially though. However, that's only true if Jason is actually considered an underdog against Freddy: I highly dispute this. Again, if you had some vote where a bunch of marks were voting, I'm guessing it would be pretty even as to "who's the favorite" between the two.
Guest NoCalMike Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I saw Superfriends where Superman was brainwashed to be evil, so the rest of the superfriends subdued him with tons of kryptonite and decided they had to kill him. Of course by the end of the show they guided him back to being good again so they didn't have to kill him.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 It's not unrealistic. Superman lacks a killer instinct. Although Batman never kills either...he has it.
JasonX Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Can someone educate the ignorant Aussie on the background story to all this?? I know who Freddie is from the first couple of Nightmare on Elm Streets, but know nothing about Jason. How are they associated with each other??? They aren't associated with each other, as Jason was created by Paramount films while Freddy is New Line Cinema's baby. Jason's backstory is that he was a kid who drowned in a summer camp lake while the two lifeguards on duty were fucking and not watching him. His mom started to kill everyone at the camp, forcing the camp to be closed until one particular camp counselor decapitated her after one of her killing sprees. So Jason rose from the lake with a new adult body and continued to kill everyone at the camp to avenge not only his death but his mom's death. And one of the really stupid and retarded long-running rumors of the Freddy vs Jason pic has been that New Line wants to retcon Jason's origin so that Freddy is connected to Jason's origin and responsible for Jason drowning/coming back as an adult....
JasonX Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Ahem, speaking of a teaser poster......fuck all that mess of waiting two weeks And yes, thats from the official website of the film which opened up today. http://www.freddyvsjason.com. *marks the fuck out* UGH.......... Guest El Satanico Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 You're expecting Freddy vs. Jason to be frightening? Well, unless you're ten years old you will be majorly disappointed.

I dont think that was the intended meaning of it..........neither Freddy or Jason have been "frightening" in ages, dare I say ever!
Guest El Satanico Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I dont think that was the intended meaning of it..........neither Freddy or Jason have been "frightening" in ages, dare I say ever! Freddy was in the first movie. Jason was for maybe the first two, but it was his mother in one of them.
Guest Downhome Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I have no idea about it, but is THIS a real teaser trailer for this film?

Guest Cover of Darkness Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 It comes down to this: Superman will never use his powers to their fullest extent, because he is, at heart, a decent person. Batman is not. Batman has plans to kill every member of the JLA if they go bad. Batman has to tame Hell, while Metropolis is like Heaven. Batman did all he has done on hard work. Superman got it handed to him by a twist of fate. Batman owns him as a character and in a fight. He's too smart and too ruthless.
