The thing is, I cannot for the life of me understand why Vince, who isn't raking it in like he used to, would even bother spending the cash on bringing a guy in with no name value to the casual fan, JUST to have him job to A-Train. He could use any fucking jobber in the country for that. Still, they need video packages NOW, lots of em, with current cruisers discussing how he's an influence on all of them and it'll be an honour etc etc, before he debuts. It can work. I'm hoping this is a step to splitting cruisers and heavies, just lending something resembling a backbone to the division.

Besides, i don't think Ultimo Dragon would sign unless he had some type of control clause in his contract. I don't think he would allow them to fuck him over with a stupid stereotype gimmick.

then they put Rey against the Likes of A Train, Big Show, Undertaker, trying to play up the underdog card while actually trying to push him in the World title ranks...

 

People forget the long version of the title is

World HEAVYWEIGHT Championship

 

If they left Rey to his own devices in the cruiserweights, or even let him wrestle with heavies, in a tag team, that would have been something.

 

We are bitching because we all got a idea on how they would treat someone of Ultimo's stature.

 

and many of us are right here, more people knew about Rey mystero in the states than they do about Ultimo Dragon.

 

If they do put up what little footage they have of Ultimo from WCW then maybe it will spark some attention..

 

if they give him that anticipation buildup they gave Rey before he appeared.

Thats your opinion and I respect that...just like i'm entitled to mine. I just think it would be a little better to hold off all the negativity until we see him. I for one THINK that there gonna give him Rey Mysterio like "coming soon promos" which could build up great interest for people who dont know him well.

Again, why in the living fuck would they single out Ultimo to debut and then deliberately make him look bad? He wasn't created by WCW, he's never been competition and there's NO history between him and Vince. Besides, I thought commitments with his own promotions would hinder him taking a full time schedule.

I'm still waiting on Benoit v.s. Tajiri, so I think he'll be stuck in the CW division.... we'll see how he does but it's going to take an effort for him to get over with the slow apparent shift of Smackdown away from long matches since Heyman got demoted.

I'm optimistic about this simply because there is no realistic reason for either WWE or Ultimo himself to agree terms if they aren't going to use him in a decent way. Even with the current WWE brains trust I don't see why they'd bring in a dignified cruiser just to job him out, they already have plenty of cruisers for that. Maybe they want Rey to have a feud he can win?

Even if the majority said yes, that would only mean more stereotypical comedy characters - and those kinds of characters stay in the midcard for eternity.

That wasn't a title defense. They gave Taka the name "Taka Michinoclue" that has STILL stuck w/ him. Has there been one japanese wrestler that didn't get stereotypical japanese music? Taka vs. Sasuke was Vince wanting to start up a new light-heavyweight division so he told them to show what they can do - Vince started up the division and quickly flooded it with crappy wrestlers like Scott Putski and Brian Lawler. Why? Because Vince is Vince.

Dragon wants to be in the WWE, he's a big fan apparently. A steady paycheck and national exposure and a cluelessness that he might get pushed and won't be a jobber 3 months down the road is attractive. He'll be thrown around by Bill Demot in no time. It's the fate of all cruiserweights.

Look at the track record with The WWE and Japanese wrestlers. Look at the track record with the WWE and cruiserweights. Vince just doesn't believe that small guys are worth promoting. Vince loves the big guys and will feed every single talented cruiserweight to a talentless hoss just because they are small.
