Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 God I hate this show. The first 30 minutes was devoted to J.R. in a predictable spot where he'd get his job back. Canadian workers go 0-1 next match was a tag title match, predictable finish, and since Test is Canadian...0-2 Next match AT 10:23 PM! 80 goddamn minutes into the show before match 3! Which was Storm (over huge with the crowd) get squashed...Canadians 0-3 Then came the Frenchies squashing jobbers Tommy Dreamer, who always gets a huge pop, and Spike. Then Trish losing a pointless match. Canadians 0-4. Then an ending which sucked balls, making Christian look like a bitch. Much like Jericho did earlier. So you're in Canada and you have Canadian workers go 0-4 and make Christian and Jericho look like shit? You have 2 matches in the first 80 minutes then squeeze 4 more out in 40...and you have a Nash/HHH brawl that no one cared for and that went on for days. Granted, the Austin stuff was good...but the show was shit.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Actually Canadians went 1-4. La Resistance are Canadian
Guest JHawk Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Sure Filk, but the Canadians didn't even know that
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Sure Filk, but the Canadians didn't even know that Considering Lawler admitted they were in the show, and JR went out of his way to correct that fact, um... I say people heard.
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Then came the Frenchies squashing jobbers Tommy Dreamer, who always gets a huge pop, and Spike. On a related note, I've noticed this Dreamer phenomenon as well. Why is it that he always gets a big pop? He hasn't really ever done anything to merit such a reaction (in the WWE, anyways). Anyways, yes, I completely agree, the show sucked wang. Poor Canada.
Guest JHawk Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 True Filk, but the live crowd didn't hear any of it, did they?

Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I think people just like Tommy...and you know they're going to job when they don't get get an entrence. I didn't know if Frenchies were doing a French-Canadian gimmick, or just pushing the straight up French deal.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 True Filk, but the live crowd didn't hear any of it, did they? Probably not. But afterwards, when they come back, trust me in the fact that they WILL be cheered. Canadians remember little details like that.

I didn't know if Frenchies were doing a French-Canadian gimmick, or just pushing the straight up French deal. Yup. Easily known who's jobbing when they don't get an entrance. As for the gimmick of La Resistance, JR's response "They may be from French Canada, but they've made their alligence with France."`
Guest Boomer Sprinklespax Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I would think they are just French and not French-Canadian being that they both wear French colors and wear the stereotypically French berets. Not to mention the fact that the gimmick is meant to prey on the unconscious American hatred of the French, especially in the wake of the disagreement about Iraq. It's kinda pointless to make them French-Canadian because of that, says I. Anyone know where exactly Rene Dupree and Sylvain Grenier are actually from, or if their accents are actually that thick in reality?
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 So my 0-4 count stands, and the froggies were very unimpressive tonight.
Guest Human Fly Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 That Nash-HHH Brawl is what really killed the show. Killed the crowd heat, destroyed any kind of pace (what little there was) and probably caused alot of people to flip away and never come back. That was just awful. The buy rate for Judgement Day is going to be a .30 Another thing about show pacing tonight was that it seemed there were more 2 minute segments and right back to commercial which IMO are big time pacing killers. And another thing before I forget, the last segment with Goldberg and Austin was pointless and seemed to go one for an hour as well. The announcers seemed to be running out of things to say.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 With the Nash/Hunter thing I just kept thinking "Ok, this has gotta be over now"...but it went on and on and on...
Guest Mindless_Aggression Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 La Resistance looked absolutely horrible. On the Dreamer thing, I think everyone realizes he's not the most talented but even the dumbest of fans can spot a guy busting his ass and having a good time doing it. Thats exactly what Tommy does every night regardless if he's jobbing or not. And that ddt/neckbreaker was just *cool* dammit.
Guest JDMattitudeV1 Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 At least the crowd booed Nash out of the building, I hope the Philly crowd crucifies him next week. A promotion with a clue would just cancel the match for Judgement Day all together, but after Vince decided to do HHH-Steiner 2 at NWO after the Rumble debacle there is no chance of that.
Guest The Metal Maniac Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 I'm almost positive that Renee Dupree is Canadian. By almost, I mean I am, but I can't back it up...
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Yeah, the DDT/Neckbreaker went off better then I thought it would. Nova's DDT/Stunner never looked right. I think the fans just like Tommy cause you know what you're getting before hand and he's going to at least work hard. Unlike some of tHe otHer guys wHo don't anymore.
Guest Human Fly Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 A promotion with a clue would just cancel the match for Judgement Day all together Exactly, the saddest thing is they will probably drag it out for a few months and try and keep Goldberg - HHH until Summerslam. I had more interest in the 3PW show Sat. night than I do for Judgement Day.

At leat there you will get young guys busting their asses trying to entertain the fans, at Judgement Day you will get hosses and senior citizens plodding around the ring while entertaining only their senile boss.

I had more interest in the 3PW show Sat. night than I do for Judgement Day. The biggest problem with the WWE right now is the title scene on Raw. Triple H has beaten and thus taken the wind away from the sails of anyone the fans have chosen. Those left are just uninteresting, even to the casual viewer. I mean, I honestly doubt many people actually want to see HHH/Nash or even HHH/Goldberg. All anyone wants to see from Goldberg is the run-in decimation and the occasional flat-out squash. I don't think anyone wants a HHH/Goldberg program, and if they do at this point, they won't once it starts because Goldberg cannot really make things compelling in and of himself like a wrestler such as Booker T can. I wouldn't even be surprised to see the fans totally turn on Goldberg before SummerSlam (ala HHH/Steiner), and then plans would be shot all to hell (not that they wouldn't go ahead with it anyways, once more ala HHH/Steiner). The only person I think would be entertaining, interesting, and believable as a contender is Jericho, and I doubt sincerely that will occur anytime soon.
Guest phoenixrising Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Dreamer's DDT/neckbreaker rocked. Show got off to a good start...even the opening 20 minute promo with Austin and Bischoff was pretty entertaining. Normally I get bored to death if the talking goes on that long but they were able to keep me into it. Everything went great right up until Jericho introduced HHH. That brawl was...so....slllllloooowwww. I thought it was pretty funny when Nash was trying to rip those X's on the ring to pieces and couldn't so he just tossed it aside. HHH/Nash has probably already cost the WWE five or six figures based on the equipment they've broken in just two weeks (broken limo windows, destruction of Highlight Reel set, use of lighting as weapon by HHH, grand theft auto of SUV). Because WANTON DESTRUCTION makes me want to get the PPV right now. Uhm, no.
Guest JDMattitudeV1 Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 The thing that pisses me of the most is how Jericho has to be the job guy for HHH's next challenger. Jericho has to go out of his way to at least try to make HHH's opponent look good, only for them to be pedigreed anyway.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Benoit will probably lose to the big show on smackdown as well.
Guest Galactic Gigolo Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Did anyone notice how JR was saying the Canadians were cheering for Triple H over Nash at some points because he was French?

Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Did anyone notice how JR was saying the Canadians were cheering for Triple H over Nash at some points because he was French? Yup. Yeah, and silly me, I thought they were both getting booed

Guest NoCalMike Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 Seemed like initially fans were just booing Nash for clobbering Jericho. Then as the brawl went on and on and on the fans would boo when Nash would get the upperhand, and sit in silence if Triple H did anything, making neither a clear face/heel. I think the brawl being rather boring led to this and was SO HOPING for a "boring" chant.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted May 6, 2003 Report Posted May 6, 2003 This match will be last at the PPV. It will get 20 minutes. Be afraid. Be very afraid.
