Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Terrence Dickson of Bristol, Pennsylvania was leaving a house he had just finished robbing by way of the garage. He was not able to get the garage door to go up since the automatic door opener was malfunctioning. He couldn't re enter the house because the door connecting the house and garage locked when he pulled it shut. The family was on vacation, and Mr.Dickson found himself locked in the garage for eight days. He subsisted on a case of Pepsi he found, and a large bag of dry dog food. He sued the homeowner's insurance claiming the situation caused him undue mental anguish. The jury agreed to the tune of $500,000.

Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Ah, I didn't know that! Either way, no matter where you are, all you have to do is look around and there is bound to be a mental person within the vicinity.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Considering the state of the American legal system, this sounds perfectly plausible. It is, however, just an urban legend, as are many similar anecdotes that have made the email rounds over the years. It's gotten to the point where I don't believe any story I get in email until I verify its veracity on Snopes first.
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Ah, good to know. I thought it was just our crooked legal system!
Guest Flyboy Report post Posted May 7, 2003 The morale of this thread? Snopes owns.
Guest DrTom Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Not only does Snopes own, but it 0wnz, pwnz, and qwnz, as well. At least half the stuff I get in email is debunked at Snopes. It's kind of surprising how many people don't give a shit that they're passing around urban legends and outright falsehoods when I point that out to them. Me: That thing you emailed was just an urban legend. Them: So? Me: So? You don't care that you got duped into spreading a lie? Them: The story was good. Me: So is Mein Kampf to the right audience. ::commence beating head into wall::

The Dames 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Then that alone makes you better than half the people I work with. The government is spreading false rumors!? *gasp* You don't say! Dames
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted May 7, 2003 What are you talking about? Our government would NEVER lie to us!
Guest DrTom Report post Posted May 7, 2003 The government has been spreading the false rumor that Dames is a man via his birth certificate for over 20 years now. Why stop such an obviously clever and successful ruse, and why not try to slip more past the public?
The Dames 0 Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Because if I was exposed for what I truly am, people would want to know if there were more of me and try to exploit more Kryptonians. Duh. Dames
