Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted May 6, 2003 If you haven't seen it, it is like a tribute to "Flashdance". Well, Paramount, the makers of the movie, are saying that JLo infringed on the copyright and are probably going to sue. What do you think? From what I have seen, it is a little too similar. Guest Eagan469 Report post Posted May 6, 2003 Actually, it's pretty much shot for shot exactly the same as the dance scenes in "Flashdance". I am SHOCKED that J-Lo didn't seek permission.
Guest Madmartigan21 Report post Posted May 6, 2003 I'm fairly certain it will be protected under the law that protects parodies.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 7, 2003 It is not a parody there was no satire at all, it was an exact copy of the movie.

Guest Miss Indy Queen Report post Posted May 7, 2003 I actually saw this on the 10pm news in NY on Fox. They showed her video on the right side of the screen and the flashdance movie on the other and it's almost identical down to the moves and all. They were speculating that Paramount may sue but they also may be interested in using J-Lo if they do a remake of Flashdance. Who cares, all we keep hearing about is J-Lo and Ben Affleck and they really need to give it a rest already!
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted May 7, 2003 I saw it and yes it's note for note remake of Flashdance.. I wonder if Gus Van sant directed
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted May 7, 2003 They were speculating that Paramount may sue but they also may be interested in using J-Lo if they do a remake of Flashdance. That's corporate thinking for you "We were going to sue her, but we've decided instead to pay her 10 million to star in a remake of a film that wasn't that good to begin with" "Can I direct" "Quiet Gus Van Sant" "But I did Finding Forrester, 'You're the man now, dawg!'" "I said quiet!" *SLAP*
Guest Dmann2000 Report post Posted May 7, 2003 Seriously though, I turned on the video and for a second actually thought it was Flashdance. Scary how similar Lopez and Jennifer Beals can look.
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Report post Posted May 7, 2003 I was watching on VH1 or MTV last night about this a little bit... they ran parts of the videos side by side, and aside from a few moves, they were almost exactly the same!

Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 7, 2003 hair metal = "emo" of the 80's Well hair metal bands involved less talent than "emoooo" bands involve, but both are equally annoying. I'm not comparing them in terms of subject matter, just on levels of annoyance.
