Ultimo Dragon to wear new mask in WWE

Other than not being green enough, I think the mask is pretty cool. A lot worse could have been done, that's for sure. I really don't think it's better or worse than his old mask, just different.

Someone mentioned it already, but he's already been wearing this mask long before he came back. When he did his big comeback in toryumon that's what he wore, or a version of it. Don't be so quick to jump to bashing things when you really don't know.

Ultimo Dragon wore a different mask pretty much every match during his run in WCW. Most of them weren't green. I thought that the pink & black ones looked the best actually.

I know. I liked the green ones the best, hence the comment. But I suppose any color would work, as long as it doesn't stay as discolored as it looks in that pic.

I think the mask is cool as hell. It's got nice design and it looks like its made of dragon skin. No complaints by me so far

I'm worried more about how the WWE is going to use Dragon and how much their gonna tone down his style more then his mask at this point.

 

Has anyone seen Dragon wrestle since his return? Can he still go like he use to?

I'm not that familiar with Ultimo Dragon, so I can't answer your question as a FAN of Ultimo Dragon, but perhaps I can offer an outsider's perspective.

 

Aesthetically, I think it's a great mask. The flanges that covered the shoulders are gone, but it appears to stay fairly true to the feel of the original mask. I think the sculpted design is fairly novel for in-ring masks. Muta and Vader, as I recall had elaborate, sculpted masks for their entrances, but didnt' wear them in the ring.

 

I applaud the effort to use new fabrics or designs to update wrestlers' looks. Think of Steiner getting rid of the bush league, indy-style "Big Poppa Pump" tights to the new, ready-for-prime-time "Freakzilla" tights. It doesn't make him a better wrestler, but he looks more professional.

 

Same with Ultimo. From what I've heard, he's a great wrestler, so the new mask won't detract from that fact, but it'll add to the "kewl" factor when the uninitiated see him for the first time.

I actually have no problem with it and I think it looks cool for a mask. However, I'll withhold a final definitive judgement for the entire outfit until I see it. Unless it affects workrate, I probably won't berate it.

If you don't like that mask, all well and good, but you make yourself sound stupid when you go off ranting that it's Vince's attempt to bury him, particularly when it's pointed out to you that he's worn the mask in the past and it's nothing to do with Vince. Ugh the problem isn't the color it's the fact that it looks like it's been sitting out in the sun too long or something. It's almost Aldo Montoya levels of ghey looking in design not color.

 

And that has nothing to do with the WWE cause like someone said he's been using those.

I did nothing of the sort Nanks, if you will read the posts I made in this thread. I simply stated I thought the old mask was superior. I made nary a comment about Vince. Get your facts straight before you try and belittle me.

My apologies Ultimo, right you are, my belittling was misdirected. I confused your post with BifEverchad's. All that stuff a few posts back, is for him. (Except for the bit about the sig obviously) For what it's worth, I reckon the pics scattered throughout sigs and the like of his other masks are cooler. Hopefully he does do what Rey is doing and changes masks from week to week, some of those look badass.

Yes, that would be a nice touch, but I would imagine that he would only change the color every week as opposed to a slightly modified design, but then again, what do I know?
