According to those in attendance, the Brock Lesnar vs. Big Show match on Thursday's house show was far from pleasant. It was what is traditionally considered a warm-up match for the upcoming pay-per view, which isn't a good sign for the SmackDown! main-event on the show.

Well I guess the two first seperate PPV's are just screwed!

Try again Vince.

I wonder which match will end up main eventing the show. Both choices seem to be terrible. I wonder why the hell anyone would actually think that putting Show/Lesnar and HHH/Nash as the main events would make people want to watch any show, let alone pay $34.95 for the priviledge of doing so. But, hey, it's not my money that's being lost, so more power to 'em!

Thank you Will, I have the same opinion, its not my money being lost, so it ain't worth getting worked up over!

I was at a house show in London last night and there wsas a match between these two. It was the same pretty much as previous matchs they've had: it was nothing offensive, and i actually enjoyed it as well.

Likely HHH will push for his match to headline...

Show/Lesnar would be better because then you send the crowd home happy no matter what because with Nash/HHH the crowd could care less and we'd get a WCW crowd reaction (garabage)...Lesnar squashing TBS would send the fans home happy...

or they can do the WCW PPV way...

Have the title matches and then Goldberg Handicap squash to close it out...

Lesnar is turning into a lame duck champion due to the fact that his contenders aren't real threats to his title reign, first it was Cena(a guy that still belongs in the midcard level) and Big Slow (a no talent fat sack of crap), who is he feuding with next? The Brooklyn Brawler or SD Jones?

i remember when SD! was great and I looked forward to it everyweek over RAW.... then Mr.America/Big SHow/Albert/Piper/Vince ruined it... glad im not ordering JDay... its not even worth ordering just to see how bad it would be (AKA backlash)....

I agree with you all except that I think it just makes Lesnar to be a champion that isn't very compelling, not a lame-duck one. He desperately needs a credible opponent. No one took Cena seriously, he was just a filler contender on a filler PPV. Same goes for the Big Show, who Brock soundly defeated just four months ago. It's OK I guess for the 'good' opponents to be saved for the future PPVs, however, to get there it's similar to wading through waist-deep sand.

I think a lot of this 'how good are house shows?' talk is influenced by how good business is at the time. I remember when I went to a house show in 1999 at The Pond and the card and the wrestling in general was pretty poor (much worse than you would see today), but the fans were into the matches the wrestlers in general.

I mean, we had The Rock vs The Bossman in a Nightstick on a Pole match. Crappy wrestling...but good fun.

We do not really care much about wrestling characters any more (in part a fault of 'Creative'), so house shows just aren't fun.
