It probably would have been for my seventh birthday in 1986, my mom got me a birthday cake from Big Bear that was made up to look like a wrestling ring and the figure that came with it, standing in the middle of the cake was King Kong Bundy.

I got 3 Hasbro figures from KB Toys in 1994 for like 2.99 each - I think they were Kamala, Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels

I was given Roddy Piper and the Bushwhackers for Christmas in like '91. Piper was my favorite guy at the time and my mom, who despised wrestling but also bought me the figures, picked out the Bushwhackers because she said "Those two are the epitome of everything that is wrong with that wrestling you watch."

Mine was in like the 80's. My dad worked on a merchant ship and he would travel all over the world. There hasnt been a place thats got a port that he hasnt been to. He once brought me a firgure from Japan it was I think in the late 80's if not the 90's. Not too sure. I wish I still had it. It would have been a collectors item by now.

I had WWF Thumb wrestlers of Hogan/HB Jim Savage/Piper, I'd use a cigar box as a ring...

 

Oddly enough I used HB Jim and Piper as Bossman and Akeem in my later years (89ish)

 

I also had the Larry Zybysko/Ric Flair AWA dolls and had many a war on my couch with my FWF (Future Wrestling Federation) with them vs my He-man guys

 

Finally one Xmas I got the WWF ring, Jake Roberts/Demoliton Ax, Macho Man, Macho King, Bossman, Million $ Man, and uhhhhh... some one else...

 

I now have well over 200 guys in my action figure pile (I'm 21 good grief!) The last match I ever played out in the ring was Arn Anderson vs Tom Zenk around 97-98 I think, but I continued to fantasy book with my toys up until last year.

 

Sad but true, and I have the note books to prove it.

 

 

Oh yeah my neighbor has a big collection of guys as well (mostly WCW guys) and the 2 of us would hold inter promotional supercards, and trade off guys to freshen up our products...

I remember getting interested in wrestling during 1992. With my birthday around the corner, my parents and relatives all bought be some of the Hasbro figures. I don't remember my FIRST one, but I do remember getting Andre the Giant, Hogan, Smash from Demolition, Big Boss Man, Jake the Snake, Ultimate Warrior, and Rick Rude. A nice starter set, however, for some reason, not one single person thought of buying me a ring, so for a few weeks, I didn't have one.

I remember getting the whole first set of hasbros (Ax, Roberts, Hogan, Warrior, Bossman, Savage, Andre, Smash, Akeem, Beefcake, Dibiase, Rude in that order-don;t ask how i know) but then got lazy and collected only a few from the next few series' until one of the last when i got Gonzales, Jannetty, HBK, Ramon, Headshrinkers and Bushhackers from KB-Toys.

Way back in the late 80s on a vacation to Quebec at some mall I got my first WWF figs. I remember going to a Toys R Us and getting the LJN Jake Roberts and Ted DiBiase. I remember wanting the ring and cage, but my parents refused. Of course that's when my grandmother stepped in and bought the ring & cage along with the Bulldogs and Hart Foundation. I guess I was a tad spoiled.

Ahhh memories. My first figure was Hogan. I loved those friggin LJN dolls even though the wouldnt move. There used to be a small toy store near my house where I would fing figures that even toys r us didnt have. It was a special feeling when I was a kid, taking home the tag team sets of the Bulldogs, Killer Bees and Hart Foundation all in one day. I would obsess trying not to ruin the paint job on them. Then I would take as many figures that could fit in the ring at one time for a battle royal and shake the ring up and down until one wrestler was left. In the end I had over 80 LJN figures until my brother decided to give them to a friend of his who wanted someting in return for a bunch of Twisted Sister and Poison records he gave my brother.

 

BTW...is it me or did LJN never make a Smash figure, only Ax?

I believe my first figures were IRS and the straight armed Hulk Hogan from the 1993 set of figures. Funny how this was around the time I was just getting into wrestling and I saw an old Owen Hart figure from when he was in the New Foundation, but I picked up the other two anyway.......damn what a fool I was.

They never made a Smash LJN, only an Ax, like you suspected. Smash was slated to actually be released in the seventh series of the LJN figures, but those never saw the light of day. Aside from Smash, series seven was also set to include the Bushwhackers, Brother Love, Bad News Brown, and the Barbarian. Too bad none of that ever panned out, those would have been some interesting LJN's.

LJN made the best damn figures. I have over 60 of those things. I love my Hart Foundation ones still in the package. Those things are rare as fuck.

That was the Warlord. I had been trying to get my hands one that one for years before I finally was able to get a great deal from a pretty well known trader on the 'net. In the deal, I got Warlord, Haku, Ultimate Warrior (all in great shape), Hulk Hogan w/ white shirt, Hart Foundation, and Ax (ok shape), for just $8 each. The three in really good shape are the shit too, with their original shine even.

I am/was an avid action figure collector, & with my home made (plywood, paint, elastic ropes-HARDCORE! Had a homemade fucking CAGE too) created the CWA. i never was sure exactly what it stood for sometimes, but something like Combat Wrestling Federation. I'd get various guys, give them slightly different names (don't wanna get sued, you know) & they'd go at it the ultimate in fictional plastic action. The first figures i got that were actually wrestlers were a 2 pack of Hogan & Sting in '95. they were the only ones i could find, & were cheap. So they ran roughshod over the CWA roster until the Mega Forces (mark=no thought process for originality) of X-Men guys Strife (the Hogan of the fed), Wolverine (the Bret) & GW Bridge (the di facto Savage) took back the spirit of the CWA from the heartless invaders.

 

The first WWF guy was a rubber posable Doink. This had to be '94-5, because all there was a Doink & a Luger aT Toys R Us, & i didn't give a fuck about Pecks Loser (my name for him at the time). Then i got the kick ass '96 series of HBK, Warrior, Bret, Taker & Vader, then it grew from there. I'll never forget, the day of Over The Edge '99, my Owen's head popped off just hours before the PPV. Scary shit.

Also got a Shane McMahon & Dude Love in the packages. Anyone want to talk tape for figures since i am broke but interested in these older ones i missed? All i ask is a Warrior, Savage & Flair (Hogans would be awesome, but it's the 80s freakin hogan, those are memories to you people). PM me if you care.

Damn I have loads of the old Hasbro ones. I must have like 40-50 odd, plus those stiff as hell WCW ones. First ones I got were...Greg Valentine and Sgt Slaughter...yep, Slaughter with special POINTING ACTION!!!

 

The first of the 6 inch ones I got was the Al Snow with Head one they banned in American or something. Scarred me for life...lol. I'm still buying them now...Hurricane and Noble Final Count versions. Lesnar, Cena, Rey Rey, Bischoff...ah, good stuff.
