Racist gimmicks

The Final Solution, he looks like a monster skinhead, and was named after Hitler's code word for the extermination of the Jews.

What about Berlyn?  Here is a german gimmick and the guy is portrayed like a Nazi.  His entrance was the worst.

Jim Ross said the N word during one of the PPV's last year, all the more odd was that it was completely out of context in the sentence he saying.

What PPV was this? I don't remember that at all, and wouldn't that be the sort of thing the WWF would get chastised for?

As for Booker T, I don't think he is a racist gimmick, although occasionally he can appear to be.  Examples include the "Buckwheat on crack" shampoo commercial comment and sometimes his facial expressions (one time in particular I remember is when he was about to get stink-faced), his eyes get really wide open and his mouth does this strange kinda twist thing, and that was similar to how "black-face" racial characters were portrayed in American films of the early '30s and '40s, but I don't think he does that for any reason other than that's how his facial expressions really are, and the resemblance is coincidental.

As for a maybe racist gimmick, what about Haku? My friend who originally got me hooked on wrestling told me the announcers used to say he came from an island where they ate babies so only the strong survived? I dunno, my friend may have been BS'ing me, but the fact that his finisher was the Tonga Death Grip shows there is at least some degree of exploitation in his character.

Also, some could consider Papa Shango to be racist.  A voodoo black man in white face? That just seems stupid more than racist to me.

Without a doubt, the most racist gimmick was Booker T and Stevie Ray's old gimmick from GWF.  I think someone else mentioned it, but they were dubbed "Kane and Kole" and were led to the ring in chains by a white guy in a white suit.  Just like someone else mentioned, it was obviously shelved very quickly.

I might be looking into this too deeply, but are we all thinking of "stereotypical" as being the same as racist?

I've been watching wrestling since 1984, and I don't remember them saying Islanders eat their young, so I think it might be more of a stereotype that Islanders are so strong.  (Or why Islanders don't wear shoes.)

What I can't figure out is why African American (note the PC terminology) and Samoan wrestlers have such hard heads?!?

Dick "The Rebel" Slater? Was he like a Confederate or something?

Yep. He was a Confederate. He waved the Confederate flag.
