Guest Cover of Darkness Report post Posted May 10, 2003 007: EVERYTHING OR NOTHING is the title for the new EA James Bond game. It seems EA is finally ready to put their Bond franchise against the likes of MGS and SC. It's third person, with improved hand-to-hand combat, new weapons, new gagets, new vehicles, and MORE OLD SCHOOL BOND VILLAINS IN MULTI-PLAYER! A Hollywood cast is doing the voices, and the script is the most ambitous for a Bond game yet. As long as they improve the elements they intro'd in 007: NIGHTFIRE then we could have an awesome game on their hands here. Guest Cover of Darkness Report post Posted May 10, 2003 Not to sound redundant, but it will never be as great as Goldeneye. I think they finally gave up trying, because they gave up the 1st Person viewpoint and that was REALLY holding them back.

TND was such an attrocity I gave up.

If you think about it, its everything that Goldeneye had and more, but for some reason a lot of people give it shit. I personally think its superior. What the hell's wrong with Halo? I think its one of the best FPS of all time. Don't let your blatant Xbox bias get in the way of recognizing true quality.

The plot is a laughable exaggeration of a real Bond film, (And it breaks Rule #1: KEEP BOND THE HELL AWAY FROM SPACE) but Multi Player tops GoldenEye, the driving levels are superb, (designed by the Need for Speed guys) and as an FPS it's about as good as the first Red Faction with an added +1 for all the Bond elements. (It has the crossbow from FYEO for christsakes!)
Guest GeneMean Report post Posted May 10, 2003 I have to disagree CoD. I thought Nightfire was an absolute abomination of an FPS. The enemy AI was some of the shittiest I've EVER seen. I don't know who I was more pissed at when that pile of feces was released; EA for such a shitty job or all the gaming mags smoking EA's pole with hype, only to trash the title in review after everyone (ok, not everyone) on the planet has played it and thought it was a $39.99 drink coaster. EGM gave it a great review. As anyone who remembers my old posting identity knows, I'm a HUGE 007 fan, so I may be bias, but is it possible that you're confusing NF with Agent Under Fire? Because NF is really popular at parties I go to because of all the old school villains you can play as in MP.
Guest GeneMean Report post Posted May 10, 2003 Nope, I'm not confusing it with Agent Under Fire. I own that one on my PS2. All of the PC reviews I read for NF slagged the living daylights (HA!) out of it and deservedly so. Maybe it makes a decent console FPS but it doesn't cut it AT ALL as a PC title. Yeah, we console gamers take what we can get. PC's get all the good FPS. I'm hoping that this will touch MGS 2. The game is in the opening stages, but they've gone on record saying it's the most ambitous one to date. I don't get it. James Bond is probobly the most popular series of films of all time, and it's experiencing a renewal in financial (but not creative) success. If EA would step it up put some money, time, and thought into the games (Like the Wachowkis did) then I could see one of them outselling the GTAs. GoldenEye sold like fuck all. Guest Tony149 Report post Posted May 11, 2003 I read Bruce Feirsten (GoldenEye, Tomorrow Never Dies, and has a credit for TWINE) wrote the script for the game. The fact the person writing the game has written a Bond script before, has my hopes up. Hopefully the game doesn't suck. EA should try to get a past Bond to voice Bond in the game(s). I wouldn't care if it was George Lazenby -- him and Roger Moore (possibly Brosnan) seem like the two who would even consider an offer IMO.

George Lazenby didn't sound like Bond in '67 and he doesn't sound like Bond now that he's in his 50's. Just get Brosnan to do it. I just hope it won't interrupt whatever "alcholic father who robs art and runs away from volcanos" movie he's got planned this year.
Guest phoenixrising Report post Posted May 11, 2003 I liked Perfect Dark even though I never finished the single player missions. However I had a great time with the multiplayer options. I'd just set up a bunch of simulants and me and start whacking them left and right. I have Nightfire, got through it once. It's...ok. There's one racing level too many though, I wish they would have thrown in a couple more single player missions. Love two of the car missions though - the one through the mountains and the submarine. Guest Cover of Darkness Report post Posted May 11, 2003 but Multi Player tops GoldenEye. No it doesn't. Yes it does. It's got everything GoldenEye's MP had, just more of it. More areas, more scenarios, more bad guys. The only thing GoldenEye's has over it is nostalgia.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted May 11, 2003 I don't have a Next Gen system, or any system at the moment, but this has my interest. I might be getting a GC this summer, I'm not sure. Bond is of teh rule though so one written by a Bond writer has my interest.

Guest Tony149 Report post Posted May 12, 2003 After saying EA should get a person whose played Bond before to voice the character in the games, they will. From http://www.commanderbond.net Actor Pierce Brosnan will lend more than his image to 2003's Bond game James Bond 007™: Everything or Nothing™, he'll also be lending his voice. The confirmation comes in the form of a press release from Electronic Arts who confirmed that Brosnan "will lend his cyberscanned likeness and voice to the character". Brosnan's image was used for the creation of James Bond in the last gaming outing, NightFire. NightFire was release in 2002 across the PC, X-Box, Gamecube and Playstation 2 consoles. Everything or Nothing will not be release on PC but will, however, be release on Playstation 2, GameCube, X-Box and Game Boy Advance consoles.
Guest KANE Report post Posted May 12, 2003 Nightfire was the best in the Bond series since Goldeneye. Really, Goldeneye will never be topped just because it was the first really good console FPS, and therefore has nostalgia to back it up, not objectivity, so nothing will ever be enough. And I think Perfect Dark was the best FPS of all time.
