Guest Eagan469 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 May 09, 2003 - Sure it's been pushed back more than the Cincinnati Bengal defense, but THQ's WWE Raw 2 is still scheduled to hit in 2003 making it one of the bigger games of the year for Xbox. One benefit of all those delays is Anchor can add in all of the new superstars, costumes and entrance music they can. At last count there were 45 wrestlers to be included in Raw 2 and the most recent additions included DDP, Rob Van Dam and Ric Flair. Now we have confirmation that there willb e more than 55 superstars including Scott Steiner, Rey Mysterio and Stone Cold Steve Austin. There's also good chance Goldberg will make it by the time the game ships this fall. Raw 2 is still allowing for custom soundtracks and features the four players story mode where you and a crew of your friends can all backstab and help each other on the way to the championship belt. Battle Royal and TLC matches have been added to the original lineup of match types, all of which will work like they do in real life this time. The game has undergone a few cosmetic changes with a look that can only be described as "furry." It's a combination of fuzzy and blurry but without looking like crap, so go figure. The lighting on the sweaty wrestler bodies gives them a constant shine that almost makes them look like the cel shaded characters from the upcoming Hulk but not quite cartoony like the characters from XIII. But that's enough of our babbling. This first explosion of game footage is just a click way and you shouldn't hesitate to get your first taste of Raw 2 in action. Pay close attention to the subtle animations like Van Dam's post-splash reaction and things like that. We'll also have plenty more on Raw 2 from E3 in a matter of days.
Guest The Superstar Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Sweet. As long as the control and grapple system doesn't suck this time around, I'll be buying it.
Guest Eagan469 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 also remember that if the CAW is halfway decent, we can rip old school themes to the hard drive to use for them (I am SO making Beverly Brothers )
Guest The Tino Standard Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Why would they add DDP NOW? He hasn't been with the company in a year.
Guest SP-1 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 If the control scheme turns out to be good, this might sway me to the X-Box.
Guest Flyboy Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Buying a console just based on one game is crazy.
Guest Eagan469 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Buying a console just based on one game is crazy. so you're calling all the GTA III trolls crazy? I wholeheartedly agree
Guest SP-1 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Not just for one game. I was half-joking but a good wrestling game series would factor in to which console I choose. Right now, PS2 leads the pack simply because of the Smackdown! and GTA series of games, as well as the FF franchise and some other games.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 as well as the FF franchise Actually that would just be the RPG genre period that they own.
Guest DawnBTVS Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Cool video, also dug the 619 by Rey complete with call out
Guest fazzle Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Notice in the Rey clip, there's a Puta sign? Plus the Big Poppa Poop and the Steiner Needs a Urine Test signs in the still pictures. What the hell? Is Anchor just seeing how long it takes the WWE to notice and tell them to take them out?
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 Dammit... I can't get it to work.
Guest Eagan469 Posted May 11, 2003 Report Posted May 11, 2003 it's a Quicktime movie - you have to save it to your hard drive to play it
Guest Flyboy Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Right now, PS2 leads the pack simply because of the Smackdown! and GTA series of games, as well as the FF franchise and some other games. GTA is overrated... as well as FF. But, that's just me.
Guest Eagan469 Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 recently MANY of the kids at my school have been selling off their PS2's to get X-Box's take that for what it's worth
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Damn that thing is 12mb I'm not downloading that on a 56k unless I have the time.

Guest tpww7 Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 My PS2 broke, so I got a X-Box in November. Best move I ever made.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 it's a Quicktime movie - you have to save it to your hard drive to play it Did that. Although, it might've helped if I had quicktime installed (had to re-install windows)
LaParkaYourCar Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 I just downloaded it and let me say... Holeee Crap! That's the most detailed crowd I've seen in a wrestling game and the movements are so fluid! If they fix the wrestling engine in that game it could be the best ever!
Guest Lethargic Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Remember those pics from a couple of weeks ago that everybody hated? Are we sure these are from the same game? haha
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Right now, PS2 leads the pack simply because of the Smackdown! and GTA series of games, as well as the FF franchise and some other games. I hope you're just talking about GTA, because FF is a fucking shell of it's former self in 1996 that is now, judging by the direction of FFX-2, just pandering to their Fanboy Crowd that buy anything with FF on the box dress up as Squall and Moogles and so-on at events. FF is just a name. #7 was the peak of both the tech and the storyline, but the depth of the plot disappeared since then and it's now just a PS2-powered lightshow.
Guest TheHulkster Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 The animation on the 5-star is probably the most life-like that i've seen in a wrestling game, i'll give them that. If they overhaul the engine, this could be a winner.
Guest tpww7 Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 Yeah, Raw 2, Halo 2 and Return to Castle Wolfenstein on Live, I wouldnt leave the house
Guest redbaron51 Posted May 12, 2003 Report Posted May 12, 2003 at least they aren't walking around with a giant lead pipe up their asses...
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 I wish this game would go XBOX Live. Tournaments would rock the house down. I'd resubscribe for a CAW tournament with a downloadable title belt for the winner to show off in regular matches.
Agent_Bond34 Posted May 13, 2003 Report Posted May 13, 2003 recently MANY of the kids at my school have been selling off their PS2's to get X-Box's take that for what it's worth I'm not surprised. I've considered doing that myself.
