Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 12, 2003 What's funny to me is how some people are acting like Bret Hart talking about backstage stuff is the same as us doing it. Acting like there's no way that he could know what actually happened. What are we to believe that he has no connections to people who still work with WWe, just because he's out of the business? Just because he didn't see it first hand doesn't mean he doesn't know what happened. Alot of you people take Bret's comments way too serious, regardless of the subject. He can make a harmless comment and some of you act like he just killed a kitten.
Guest creativename Report post Posted May 12, 2003 like equating the significance of a warlord return to bret hart? I caught that too. Funny. Anyway, I can't believe people are saying that Bret not witnessing the event somehow invalidates the legitimacy of the column. Bret knows all these people, I'm sure he's gotten multiple accounts from some of the people who were present. Also, the account he gave corresponds 100% with what all the dirtsheets said. The facts of what happened are hardly in question. Note that I can understand people who might criticize Bret for his "whining", but again, he has every right to whine against Goldberg specifically--accidents happen, but Bret has the same problems here with Goldberg that most smarks have: 1) his seeming recklessness and carelessness in the ring; and 2) his lack of remorse or guilt afterwards. BTW, the quarter-sized muscle tear in his neck is especially gruesome; I had no idea he had an injury of that sort. I had never heard of it before. Ugh. Something like that might remind Bret of Goldberg's kick every time he turns his fucking neck--that can't possibly help Bret to forgive any easier. Austin was pretty bitter at Owen too, again with a fair reason (Owen is not guilty of #1 above, but according to Bret he was guilty of #2). If you are not willing to accept Bret's attitude towards Goldberg because you dismiss it as whining, then you are not thinking appropriately. Bret's attitude is perfectly justified (in this case). Yes, they did. The "wreath" in question (according to Martha) was a huge yellow WWF logo that was to be placed on Owens casket which Martha subsequently had removed. Are you serious? Where did you hear that from? That is just incredibly disturbing. I can't believe even Vince would be so absurdly disrespectful. That's pretty low, man. There has to be an explanation for stuff like that and the way he runs his company. It's gotta be Satan, drugs and lots of them or senility

He probably saw it as a gesture that said, "Your WWF family, my family, will always be with you." Of course, Vince should have thought about the way Martha and others who blame him would react. It was definitely inconsiderate.

According to Sex, Lies, & Headlocks it was "a huge floral heart by the casket with a WWF logo on it's side." I wouldn't be suprised if Martha made it sound like they placed a giant billboard on him. I've lost a lot of respect for her since she bended the laws and let the harness company off scott-free so she could milk more money from McMahon. Which is not to say I love Vince or anything, but courtroom conspiracy is just that.
Guest HellSpawn Report post Posted May 13, 2003 Wait a second... some of you are saying that Bret shouldn't have the right to comment on something he didn't witness?!? This is a smart mark board... we ALL comment on things we don't witness on an every day basis. WE have the right to do that, but Bret, a former wrestler, doesn't?!? If there's any time to use the "pot calling the kettle black" reference, it's in this case You people amaze me lol You took the words right out of my mouth. I mean, I like some of Barron stuff but... 1st, I agree with some of you guys, that column is written as a joke. 2nd, Bret is a wrestler, he knows stuff, Hell ! maybe he still have some friends inside the WWE, and HE CANT COMMENT ABOUT Jericho vs Goldberg? 3rd, again, In what kind of world I am when a fan can comment about something that happen out off the screen and he read in some website and a former wrestler who actually meet both guys cant. I tlooks like some of you still dont forgive/forget Bret for his IN CHARACTER Promos way back in 97.
Guest Adrian 3:16 Report post Posted May 13, 2003 ^ So, so true. I also just love how all we do on this board is talk about what the wrestlers do behind the scenes, but Bret Hart, who actually knows both Jericho and Goldberg, can't comment on what happened because he "wasn't there". Guest Heel In Peril Report post Posted May 13, 2003 Bret can say what he wants. If someone doesn't agree with his opinions, prove him wrong. But expressing disgust for the reasons why he has an opinion is ludicrious considering (like someone mentioned) that most of us can't know more than him about it, yet we speculate, and I say that's fine! Moreover, it is my opinion that Bret was "bitter" towards Billiam on this particular occasion more obviously because the story (as most of us know it) is that Goldberg attacked Jericho and got shut down. I think that deserves stating over and over again. Goldberg grabbed Jericho's throat only to get owned! Bias aside, that's just a good story. And funny shit! Bret may not have "been there". But did he say he was? Doesn't sound so ignorant or retarded if you ask me.
