Guest Kahran Ramsus Report post Posted May 13, 2003 It's great how people on this board think the WWE is going to do anything good with Chris Benoit and the title... just great... not going to happen; but it's great none-the-less. Unfounded Optimism is always refreshing. To the WWE, Benoit is just enhancement talent. I'm not saying they will, I'm saying they should. More likely they will do Brock/Mr. America. Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 13, 2003 To Rasmus: I had a similar plan in my head for the lead in to Wrestlemania XX as well. It's hard to say now what they're going to do as there doesn't seem to be any obvious direction right now. I'm still somewhat optomistic they're going to do something with Benoit. However, I'm equally worried they have no real plans for him besides putting over whatever star they want to push at the current time. There seem to be signs pointing in each direction. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 13, 2003 I don't really see the sign pointing in the "champion" direction. I mean, the only thing he has going for him is that he hasn't wrestled Brock yet.
Guest wildpegasus Report post Posted May 13, 2003 A Few Signs pointing to championship: There were strong rumors that Benoit was going to replace Angle in the Wrestlemania bout against Lesnar before Angle decided to go for it. The fact that they put the Big Show in against Lesnar at next weeks PPV. No one in their right mind (and I don't have anything against Show) would think he's a better descision than Benoit. This would indicate that they're saving up Benoit vs Lesnar for a time when Benoit can actually win the belt since Lesnar isn't going to lose his title right out of the gate. But than again the WWE has Nash main eventing so what do I know? Benoit and Angle are bound to fight again. If they do, there's a good chance that this'll be a championship match or a number 1 contenders match They haven't written Benoit off. Even last week when he lost to the Big Show he didn't lose completely fairly.
Guest Jim Ross Report post Posted May 13, 2003 According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Live and also on the PWtorch newsletter, as of right now the scheduled main event for Vengeance is going to be Angle/Brock II. However PWtorch also said that just like Goldberg/HHH it may be saved for Summerslam. I don't know, I think this is a little to early to be having the rematch. I say they should meet at Survivor Series and then have the rubber match at Wrestlemania 20. Let Benoit feud with Brock during the summer. Im not believing a word of it until I see it in Bradshaw's column
