LOL I wonder who decided it was a game of the year??? Silly X Box Consumer #1: Wow, Morrowind GOTY Edition! I already have the original, but I'll gladly pay another $50 for it again. Silly X Box Consumer #2: Yeah, X Box official magazine(or whoever) voted it a game of the year, so I have to go buy it since I didn't get it the first time. For Gamecube I'm looking forward to Wario World, but they haven't said much about anything yet. PS2 also hasn't been to active so far, I'm looking for some announcements tomorrow. Pictures of it show the baseball player and the cape from Super Mario World. You sure about that? Meanwhile, I've seen a LOT of stuff today, most of it from Nintendo (I think they probably blew their load today to try and take attention off the Sony portable), but to link to it all would be insane. I know I don't really come to this gaming forum for anything other than wrestling video games anyway. =/ That Nintendo-made PacMan game kicks ass, btw. The unit will offer a 4.5-inch, wide-screen TFT with a resolution of 480 by 272, according to Sony executives. Capable of rendering 3D graphics, the PSP will support MPEG4 for DVD-quality video at low data rates, he said. It will have a USB 2 port for expandability, as well as a Memory Stick slot for network applications. Software for PSP will ship on a new platform called Universal Media Disc (UMD), a 60mm optical disc that resides in a cartridge. Sony developed the technology, which will offer up to 1.8GB of storage per disc. Sony's Kutaragi displayed one of the discs, which are about half the size of a standard CD, but he did not offer a peek at the platform itself. His only reference to its design: "He is very cute." Sony is going to fail here, and I'll give you the main reason. PRICE. There is no way this thing sells for less than $150. By next year, the GBA SP will be selling for $79. The handheld market is primarily for kids, and kids won't be able to afford the PSP (I think JASC, makers of Paint Shop Pro (PSP) should sue Sony) if it costs $199. And chances are the games will be the same price as PS2 games ($49) where as GBA games can be had for $20-35. Granted the games will be awesome but I don't see it being as successful as the Game Boy. Listed shortly below it, meaning they were up earlier, were the IGN XBox and IGN PC articles which were the same. I saw Viewtiful Joe in action on a late night ABC news segment with Adam Sessler from TechTV's X-Play..although I would have much rather seen Morgan Webb than Addam "look at my spikey hair" Sessler. Its a 2D side scrolling beat'em up with a cel shaded look (not sure if it really is) but it also has a lot of depth in the backgrounds and tons of crap happening on the screen at any given time with tons of bad guys trying to beat the crap out of Joe while hes busting some crazy ass moves on them. You pretty much HAVE to see it in action, as I don't think theres any way that screenshots (which I had seen before) do it justice at all. And I mean, its a 2-D side scrolling beatem up on a next gen console..!! As for Star Fox, I saw the screenshots on PGC, and as for Metroid 2, somebody I know sent me screencaps of the video since I have a slow connection and have a hard time downloading large video files.
