Guest Midnight Express83 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 WHo do you think is the most overexposed artist currently. And who do you think is the most Overexposed of all time. This isn't to knock anyone's talent, but who do you feel gets/got too much fucking time on TV and radio. Just beyond what anyone deserves. They can be one of the greatest, just getting fucking annoying when all the radio stations are playing songs from this person's album every freaking 10 mins. Personally: Top 3 currently 3: Eminem 2: Madonna 1: 50 Cent Top 3 All Time 3: Beatles 2: Nirvanna 1: Elvis
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Nirvana and Metallica. Surprised I said Metallica, eh?
Guest Texas Small Arms 09 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I can't go anywhere now without hearing some 50 Cent song. It was like when that Titantic craze hit and all you heard on the radio was Celine Dion, once is okay, but every hour or less is annoying as hell
Guest Zero_Cool Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Nickelback Limp Bizkit Puddle of Mudd Good Charlotte Britney Spears ..I could go on forever, but I have a cd to burn.
Guest 5_moves_of_doom Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 It's good to know that my groundbreaking plan of avoiding MTV and mainstream pop culture is working -- I've never heard a 50-Cent song. ...well, I've heard some friends singing 50-Cent songs at school... I hope that doesn't count.
Guest El Satanico Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 ...well, I've heard some friends singing 50-Cent songs at school... I hope that doesn't count. No it counts...Their vocals can't be any worse than the real thing. Difference is that your friends don't have dance club ready beats to sell albums with.
HurriShane Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Ive been seeing and hearing way too much Metallica and 50 Cent lately for my tastes.
Guest razazteca Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Madonna and Wu Tang Clan. I never liked the collective, as Meth and ODB/Big Baby Jesus/Dirt McDirt/ solo projects are superior than the group albums. Hell Raekwan and Ghost Face even had some good solo joints. I never liked the 7 MC freestyling over the beats that RZA or GZA made.
Guest Banky Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Metallica. They have always sucked. Always been overated. Just garbage.
Guest Kinetic Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 And the 50 Cent thing has to be due to some sort of payola scheme or something, because the song isn't even good. To get that sort of airplay with a song that isn't really catchy and has no real redeeming characteristics whatsoever has to be a sham. Anyway, I think Starland Vocal Band is pretty overrated. Did you ever read the press on the back of their albums? Talk about hyperbole! I mean, I like "Afternoon Delight" okay, I guess, but the rest of that album is crap. And yet Mr. Kane, freelance writer and drug dealer to 3/4th of this so-called vocal band (I'm assuming). I mean, "buoyant melodies"? This is Starland fucking Vocal Band! Bunch of fucking overrated hippies, if you ask me. EDIT: I think I left out half a sentence. Fill it in yourself. One of these doors leads to a giraffe!
Guest Midnight Express83 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I am not asking who is overrated, i am just stating over exposed... And 50 cent doesn't have just one song out right now. his ENTIRE album is on the radio, "Hail Mary", "Magic Stick", and "Bump Heads". There is about enough music to play a straight 50 Cent 2 hour block every day, and damn it they try for it.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I've never heard any 50 cent, and if I have, I can guarantee I didn't realize it. No one comes close to Metallica in this department.
Guest saturnmark4life Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 In the UK, I am exposed to the festering pile of emotionless, one dimensional drivel that IS Coldplay on a daily basis. I'm assuming Metallica are as bad as that in the US, I don't flat out hate them yet but I'm pretty sure I'd be sick to death of them if they took away as big a chunk of my life as these idiots do. As for overexposure turning me completely off bands I used to kinda like, I vote for RHCP.
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 No one comes close to Metallica in this department. Creed
Guest starvenger Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 I'd say the most overexposed is Jennifer Lopez, but since she's a "crossover" celebrity, that really wouldn't count, would it? If it's not Lopez, it's probably Eminem. His music has been pushed on "new" rock, hip hop, top 40 and even adult contemporary ("Stan") so it's hard to flip channels without hearing him at least once an hour. Same goes for Creed and Matchbox Twenty.
Guest Agent of Oblivion Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 No one comes close to Metallica in this department. Creed Creed is close, good call on that, but radio stations don't have shit like "Mandatory Creed" like they do with Metallica. The local rock radio station here plays a half hour of straight metallica, 5 nights a week at 9 PM. Not to mention the fact that they've declared the month of May "May-tallica" in a crude rehash of Rocktober. They're literally on something constantly

They're literally on something constantly According to Metallica.com the month of May is now renamed MayTallica. I only listen to a Classic Rock station, and since when is Creed's My Sacrifice and One Last Breath "Classic Rock That Really Rocks."
Guest ant_7000 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 50 Cent getting way too much buzz, Like someone said his whole album is getting played the radio. I've heard on the radio: "In da Club" "If I Can't" "21 Questions" "Whats up Gangsta" "Wanksta" "Hail Mary" (mixtape freestyle) "P.I.M.P" and he's also is featured on other artists songs that get played on radio too: Lil Kim Featuring 50 "Magic Stick" Biggie f 50: "Bump Heads" I think thats the name Pac f 50: "The realest killa's" This won't be out on radio or release to the public (I think)because they didn't get permission to use 2pac's vocals. Justin Timberlake f 50: "Cry me a river" (remix) He featured on about 10 songs that gets played regularly, everytime, I turn on radio he's on so I turn to another station his on there.

Aren't they doing that Mandatory shit like three times a day now? I wouldn't know because I usually listen to 107.7....
Guest FeArHaVoC Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Wow, they do the same shit here with Metallica on 103.9 K rock. But, they been doing that for the last few years.
Guest Hogan Made Wrestling Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Have to go with 50 cent as well. I only listen to his freestyles, and avoid everything else.
Guest Choken One Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Clearly, It's 50 Cent. With Wanksta, In Da Club, 21 question, Magic Stick and Bumpin Heads all over the radio... As for Rock... Creed isn't on the list mainly because since the Fiasco over Winter, they haven't cut a single since a weak run from Don't Stop Dancing...One Last Breath was their most recent "played" song and that was well back in Late Summer early fall... However, They WILL play One, My Sacrifice and My Own Prison all the time but generally skip over Human Clay (as they should). Metallica is certaintly OVER-PLayed. U can't go 25 minutes without Enter Sandman, One, or Until It Sleeps...And that's another thing...it's always the same s0ng...you never catch F2B or NEM on it...just those three songs... I must also say that No Doubt gets a shit load of Air Time as well...
Guest redbaron51 Posted May 14, 2003 Report Posted May 14, 2003 Led Zeppelin is over exposed? Obviously you do not live near where I do. Honestly the only songsn that they play is Immagrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Dyer Maker, Rock N Roll, and Heartbreaker... constantly...
Guest The Czech Republic Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 The Loop here in Chicago does Get The Led Out every night, as well as Mandatory Metallica. Luckily GTLO is three songs and MM is just one.
Guest Plushy Al Logan Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I must also say that No Doubt gets a shit load of Air Time as well... Yes they are overexposed, but I find Gwen more annoying and ugly than over-exposed. My list of over-exposure: The Beatles Metallica Anything having to do with rap/hip-hop Led Zepplin (They're great, but the love affair with them has to stop, especially the Zeppelin screenings of the new DVD) Deep Purple (I hear "Smoke on the Water" every day, because that's the only song they play)
Guest Choken One Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 Anything having to do with rap/hip-hop Kind of a broad statement there...
