Guest Mole Report post Posted May 15, 2003 (edited) Well I just got back from the Matrix, and it was a sweet movie. I understood just about everything in the movie until the artiteck came about, and I got a little confussed. However, this is what I think is going on: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Neo goes to see the arciteck and he tells him what is supposed to happen, they don't really have much of a choice. They just do stuff because of what they believe 'higher powers' tell them to do. The articek tells him you are a lot different the other 5 'ones'. Neo isn't really the 'one' because that is just apart of the prophecy, which was created by man for them to have hope. The arcitcek tells Neo that he either has a choice to re-start Zion by choosing 16 other people to continue the world outside the Matrix, or go to the other door to help Trinty, and the world as you know it well end. Neo decides to go into the other door to help Trinty, he was the first 'one' to make the other decision. So he goes out, and saves Trinty. Then, when they go back to the 'real world' Neo realizes that something is different. He then uses his powers to kill the sentials because the 'real world' is actually a program, and isn't a real world. If you think about it, Neo wouldn't be able to do that if he was really human because he doesn't have those powers as a human. Plus, the Smith agent wouldn't be able to go into the 'real world' because he is a program. That is why he was able to be in the 'real world' because it isn't the 'real world' but another program. This is just a theory, and probably makes little sense. Anyway, the action in this movie was awesome. The best scene was when Neo was fighting all of the Smith agents, and opened a can off woop ass on them. What are your theories on the movie? Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Maybe you should tag all that. Just a suggestion.
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 15, 2003 I said in the topic starter 'lets talk about the movie' so people coming in here should know about the movie. I'll do it anyway, thanks HBK.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Yeah you warned but just to stay on the safe side
Guest Nanks Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Yeah, you gotta spoiler tag everything. People who haven't seen it might want to see what others thought of it, but definitely not have shit spoiled. Good thing you'd tagged it before I opened it, I'm not seeing it for another 8 hours
Guest Mole Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Thank HBK for that.
Guest HBK16 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 I just didnt want it to get ruined for others.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Plain and Simple: The Movie Sucked. Poor Plot Poor Storytelling Poor Acting GREAT Special Effects Basically all the heart from the first one is missing. It was just boring. I almost fell asleep during the trip to Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Zion and the party/everything else that happened there Andy and Larry learned well from their mentor, Master Lucas. Story be damned, let the FX rule all!

Poor storytelling? Poor plot? How was it poor? Spoiler (Highlight to Read): They had to save Zion, so they went to find the Key guy, then to the arcitek. I just don't think you understood it, even though I don't think I understood it completely either. Your opinion though, but why did you think it was poor? Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 15, 2003 All I have to say is that the ending is Bullshit. The fight scenes rule and so did the Freeway chase scene. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Who was the only survivor of Zion, was it Smith? The Brothers are better than Lucas on the simple fact that the Matrix actors do not sound like robots. The FX did F'N rule so did the sword play and the TWINS! The only problem I have with Reloaded is the editing, it looked like the Brothers tried to get fancy with flashbacks, dreams, nonlinear segments.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Spoiler (Highlight to Read): They had to save Zion, so they went to find the Key guy, then to the arcitek. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): So why then did it take two hours for us the audience and the players to know that? If they had cut down on the Zion shit plus developed the sub story arcs like the Naomi, Morpheus, Lock love triangle a little more I might not be so harsh. Why did I have to see 10+ mins of them bumping and grinding when you could have had a little more meat to the story instead. As it stands, I know that Lock is the typical jealous boyfriend stereotype who is completely 2D. It was laughable. The action scenes while great, took too long. I swear the fight scenes in the first didn't last that long, save the subway fight at the end. I'm sorry, but it suffered Phantom Menace syndrome. Could have been decent like the first, but falls way short. I'm glad you enjoyed it but I just felt a little insulted.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 I liked the movie, but I would be lying to you if I said I wasn't a little disappointed. And what was with: Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Let's have a prayer...okay now let the orgy begin?!

Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 15, 2003 The Brothers are better than Lucas on the simple fact that the Matrix actors do not sound like robots. You lie! Trinity (Carrie Moss) has Zero Charisma in this flick and looks like she's just Phoning it in. Momento is a better example of her acting. The FX did F'N rule so did the sword play and the TWINS! You're right there. I'm not dissing the FX. But FX can't just be the movie. The only problem I have with Reloaded is the editing, it looked like the Brothers tried to get fancy with flashbacks, dreams, nonlinear segments. The movie flowed slow. I just wish it was as clean and crisp as the first in this respect.

Well Star Wars did it Matrix had a love story subplot and some characters are evolving to having a deeper meaning in the movie.
LaParkaYourCar 0 Report post Posted May 15, 2003 The storyline of this one reminded me of a mix between a Final Fantasy storyline and an anime movie. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Everything so serious, so much death, everyone but a handful dying, faced with a choice to fix it or end it, moments that are made to feel epic, and the drained feeling you get after it's over cause it's all so big and bold

I understand that the movie didn't flow very well, becasue the beginning of the movie did move pretty slow. They could of cut out a bunch from the beginning, but I still enjoyed the film. I can't wait until the next one so my theories can be answered. Does anyone agree with me on my theory about what happened at the end?

Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Well Star Wars did it I disown the new ones, so I'll tackle this one as if you meant the originals. In A New Hope, they tease the love triangle of Leia, Luke and Han. They show a beaten old Jedi(Samurai) trying to help fix a mistake he made in the past. And one person overcoming the odds and making difference when others tried to hold him down. Yep all about the FX there.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 15, 2003 You know what if this is just a dream sequence that Johnny Pneumonic had while he was hacking his brain. What you did not know that it was a "prequel" to the Matrix. /sarcastic

Did I miss something when I saw the movie or something because I thought there were only two Jedis left, Yoda and Obi. Or am I just way off about something? One thing you have to remember Blue, there was no FX back then. I am sure if there was, Lucas would of but a whole bunch of it in the film.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Uh, Obi is that Jedi/Samurai. Again, I'm glad you guys enjoyed it. Maybe I just don't "get it". But I won't be giving Andy and Larry another 7.25 for Revolutions.

I wish I'd pay that, I get to pay 8.75.
Guest Blue Bacchus Report post Posted May 15, 2003 Lucas was always keen on Borrowing (Stealing) themes from Kurosawa and from Mythology in order to weave a tale. Thus I equate Jedi to Samurai. 8.75?!?! Man and I thought I had it rough when they jacked it up from 6.50 not too long ago.
