Guest benoitrulz4life Posted May 15, 2003 Report Posted May 15, 2003 I can honestly say if none of mine had been broken or lost, I would have close to two hundred, although, I never had any more than eighty at a time. Now it's sad to look in that box in the attic and see the 25 or so survivors of my once mighty army. Although coming from a kid who use to drop rocks on them and throw them off porches with his little brother I'm not too terribly surprised.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I had a ton. As years went buy, I'd use paint pens, glue, cotton, and toothpicks to turn them into either custom guys or X-men. I made Psylock, which turned into Dark Phoenix. I made Wolverine, Cyclops, Iceman (in uniform, not Iced up) Magneto, Prof. X, and many more. Incidently, I just saw a new G.I. Joe DVD released, containing two mini-series from the old cartoon, that comes with an exclusive Snake Eyes figure.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Never had any -- I was a Star Wars kid...
Rendclaw Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 I think at one point I had like 40-50.... but my thing was making a wrestling fed out of them.... The Stormshadows were always warring with the Snake-Eyes for the tag team titles, with Quick Kick doing run-ins.... Zartan's Group (I cannot remember the name of them) were the Road Warrior types.... Hawk and Duke were always a tag team, RoadBlock was the Hoss of the Day.... Destro always used his beryllium mask to win matches... Cobra Commander was always interfering in matches.... there was a good ladies division with Lady J, Scarlett, and the Baroness.... oh I could go on and on and on.......
Guest MaxPower27 Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 A few. Mine didn't tend to last too long, so I had to replace arms, legs and heads where they didn't belong on a lot of my toys. Most of them weren't even real GIJoes, they were the generic equivalent bought for half the price.
Guest Blue Bacchus Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 Too many to count. I was spoiled as a kid.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted May 16, 2003 Report Posted May 16, 2003 At most, 5. Ninja Turtles were my true vice. And later, it was X-Men and the like.
Guest Lil Naitch Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I got most of my GI Joes from Walgrees using my 5-fingered discount. Funny that my parents never noticed when suddenly I got a new toy. And I always switched the boddies- heads, arms, legs, torsos.... and when the rubber band broke, I'd either put a regular rubber band in, duct tape the figure, or glue the waist to the torso-forget how the legs stayed in, though. And as a funny note, I made Phoenix out of the one Joe I though was a lady, ntill years later I found out it was a guy. Sandstorm I think the name was. Hell, he LOOKED like a girl...
Guest Bannable Offense Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I only had Snake Eyes since my collection was all over the cartoon spectrum when I was a kid. G.I. Joe, TMNT, Voltron, M.A.S.K., He-Man, Transformers...you name a non-girl oriented cartoon and I had at least one figure representing that show.
Guest Black Lushus Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 I hated how their penises always broke off, cheap plastic...the rubber bands breaking sucked too, especially when you were in the middle of a wrestling match and it happened to your heavyweight champion!
Guest Vyce Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 What do you mean, as a kid? I have them NOW. AND I collect the new ones they've been producing for the past 3 years. We're on wave 6 by now, I think.
