Guest NoSelfWorth Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Jim Quigley just sent word that when he got home from work today, there was a call on his answering machine from none other than Triple H. In the recorded message, H basically did a mini promo about being the general and "reminded" Quigley (and whoever else got the call) that this Sunday is the Judgment Day PPV. I believe that the call was initiated by Comcast Cable because I also got one from them earlier today that showed up on my caller ID, but I didn't pick it up. That would certainly lead me to believe that they don't have as many pre-orders for the show as they would like. I can't say I am surprised. Both Quigley and myself have never gotten one of these before and it is my understanding that Comcast went into their database of people who have bought WWE shows in the past and sent out this reminder. Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 How much you wanna bet that there's some kind of hidden message in the call saying him and Kev are the two best workers on RAW.
Guest NoSelfWorth Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 JD is this Sunday?! Indeed it is. And I have ZERO desire to watch.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 "If you want to see me win at Judgement day press 1... If you want HHH to win at Judgement day press 2... If you want the game to win at judgement day press 3... If you want to see Jericho lose press 4... If you want to see Kevin Nash, HHH and HBK get back together again and bury Jericho, Booker T and RVD, press any key now, if you don't not want to see kevin nash, hhh, and hbk get back together again and bury Jericho, booker t, and RVD do not press any key now... "
Guest Lightning Flik Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 You mean there aren't that many buys for this weekend's PPV? Gotta say I'm shocked. ...ok, I'm not shocked.
Guest My Eyebrow is on fire Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I can only imagine the dog at the dinner table tactics the WWE will use when the RAW Only PPV's start hitting .01 buyrates.
Guest Memphis Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 That damn Jericho, if he wasn't stealing all of Nash's heat on RAW the other week the crowd would be HOT for this match and the buyrate would be through the roof. /mark M
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I had completely forgotten about it but this thread reminded me........I got one of those calls too before,I think,Wrestlemania? The prerecorded message was Hogan,if I remember correctly. It was kinda surreal/bizarre.
Guest Nevermortal Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Why would they have HHH do the call? Isn't he a heel? Oh wait. HHH > Everyone Else, Heel or Face
Guest Rob Van Dam Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I had hhh call me yesterday, pretty funny considering i hate hhh. I also had Kane call me before no mercy last year
Guest Your Olympic Hero Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 What is Judgment Day and who is Triple-H?
Guest Mulatto Heat Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I had hhh call me yesterday, pretty funny considering i hate hhh. I also had Kane call me before no mercy last year And remember, just before last year's No Mercy there was big concern over too few buys, as well as only 3000 or 4000 tickets sold in the arena.
Guest humongous2002 Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Judgement day on sunday? I think i'll go to the movies to watch The Matrix, for the 4th time.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Why would they have HHH do the call? Isn't he a heel? [Vince] He is? [/Vince]
Guest MixxMaster Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I seem to remember this being done back in like 97...waitaminute. It wasn't WWF/E doing it at the time, it was ...WCW.
Guest Choken One Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I would Mark out if I came home and Rob Van Dam left a message on my machine... RVD: Hey, Man It's ROB-VAN-DAM here, Hold On lemme read the script here...Oh yeah...Hey this sunday is our PPV man..I'm not booked but don't worry man...HHH and Goldberg, Yeah I know cool huh? They are having a iron man match dude...So hey man, Just make sure you watch this show? Cool? I know everythings cool whe your R-V-D.
Guest AndrewisyourHero Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Man, Nash has some skinny ass legs..
Guest Slingshot Suplex Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I would buy a new tape and save that one to make sure it didn't get erased. That would be golden.
Guest Youth N Asia Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 That Nash pic has to be gimmicked, those legs would snap like twigs if he tried to walk on them...just waiting for that Sally Struthers bitch to pop up on my screen with a "feed the Nash" message.
Guest MixxMaster Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 lol...it's actually from Zenk's site...good photoshop work, huh???
Guest wwF1587 Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 i cant believe the buyrate has skyrocketed yet.... its battle of the quads for gods sakes... WAY bigger than Battle of the ROIDS a few months ago..
Guest Reservoir_Kitty Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Judgement day on sunday? I think i'll go to the movies to watch The Matrix, for the 4th time. Amen. ...Well, I haven't seen it yet, that's what Sunday's for. I might consider watching the PPV if a wrestler (albeit one I like) came to my DOOR and gave me a friendly reminder to watch Judgement Day. I would chuckle with glee if I actually got a call like that. I'd 'forget' to order the stupid, sucky thing just out of spite.
Guest RenegadeX28 Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Wow, I never get these recorded promos in my area. For the first time ever, I HAVE NO hype to watch a WWE PPV.
Guest razazteca Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 No goldberg match? No increase in buyrate from casual marks. What did you expect?
Yuna_Firerose Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 What I say to WWE and their shitty PPVs.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 I seem to remember this being done back in like 97...waitaminute. It wasn't WWF/E doing it at the time, it was ...WCW. They were doing this before the WCW purchase. I remember Austin calling me when I was still a mark.
