Guest William E Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Alright we have all seen wrestlers get placed in shitty, pointless, and stupid angles that can kill their credibility, make them look like jobbers, and make the fans lose interest. Jericho,Kane,RVD, and Booker T have gone through this but they still haven't fallen hard from it, but my question is can a seriously bad angle kill a wrestler's crediblity to the point where he/she would have to look for another profession and has this already happened?
Guest papacita Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I dunno if it'll ever get to the point where they'd have to move another profession, because as a former WWE star they could always be somewhat of a draw in the indies. But a bad angle can definitely kill someone's credibility on the national level. Terry Taylor never really recovered from the whole Red Rooster gimmick, and personally, I haven't been able to take Bam Bam Bigelow seriously since the loss to L.T.
Guest j.o.b. squad Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 no becose even jokes in indy wrestling get paid. If their credibility is hurt that just means that fans remember them. therefore at a lower level indy they can be draws
Guest William E Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 I guess you're right when you put it that way.
Guest Choken One Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 MAYBE. Take a Look at those performers whom played Russians during the height of the Cold War...Don't you think that hurt their professional Careers because in some ways they were blackballed as Russian Performers? It took RVD to save Kane's Career...
TheOriginalOrangeGoblin Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Not really. Look at Sting, he survived Robocop, the Black Scorpion, the Shockmaster and the Dungeon of Doom crap. Not ot mention the Vampiro bullshit from 2000.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 But Sting was like the main guy in WCW, it's the same reason HHH still is a big name despite humping a mannequin in a casket. Well, that and the sleeping with writer thing.
Guest razazteca Posted May 17, 2003 Report Posted May 17, 2003 Yes it can, where are Tiger Ali Singh and the Head Bangers? Low Down was a very bad gimmick..........strap-on turbans with chin straps!?!?
Guest William E Posted May 18, 2003 Report Posted May 18, 2003 Dlo Brown survived Low Down. That gimmick is definitely up thier as one of the worst tag team gimmicks ever. Wait, what ever happened to Chaz???
Guest Ravenbomb Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 remember Cactus Jack's amnesia angle? I rest my case
Mecha Mummy Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 remember Cactus Jack's amnesia angle? I rest my case That didn't kill Cactus' career at all. Maybe in WCW, but the best of Foley's career was yet to come.
Guest razazteca Posted May 19, 2003 Report Posted May 19, 2003 D-Lo did not survive the I hate white people angle. I just realized that D-Lo's whole career was one bad racism angle.
Mecha Mummy Posted May 20, 2003 Report Posted May 20, 2003 D-Lo did not survive the I hate white people angle. ... Uhm, which one? *Laughs* And despite the bad angle, D'Lo's debut in TNA got one of the loudest reactions from that crowd I've ever heard....
Guest alkeiper Posted May 30, 2003 Report Posted May 30, 2003 Yes it can, where are Tiger Ali Singh and the Head Bangers? Low Down was a very bad gimmick..........strap-on turbans with chin straps!?!? Tiger Ali's not around anymore because he's not a good wrestler.
