Guest Smell the ratings!!!

listen, I'm not going to pretend to give two high fucks about golf. But this guy is seriously nuts. First he says he hopes a woman misses the cut because "she doesn't belong out here", then backtracks and says "I would be emberassed to lose to a woman" then pulls out of the tournament all together. (maybe he really is afraid to get beat by a woman)

and 60 years ago if he tried to enter a tournament some cumguzzler would have said "Ah hope he misses the cut, dem niggers don't belong on the golf course". What an absolute gigantic ass this guy is.

end rant. Let us never speak of this "golf" again.

None of the players are afraid of losing to a woman. There better players than she is. She's a great women's golfer. The men's tour is the major leagues. This is a huge jump from the LPGA.

She shouldn't be in this tournament. She didn't qualify and is taking away a spot in the field from someone who did. IMO..all sponsers exceptions to non-tour players should be taken away.

I think he is angry because the woman got an sponser buy-in instead of "winning" a spot on the tour

That's exactly what it is. One of the best players in the world isn't afraid of losing to a her. I don't know why he dropped out? Didn't want all the press, or maybe since he won, he decided to take the week off.

My point:

Isn't there a man trying to enter a minor LPGA tournament? And LPGA golfers are bitching about that when they're better than that guy.

Equality goes both ways.

The LPGA tour says men are not allowed. No rules exist in the PGA tour guidlines.

If she had qualified this would be a totally different story, but she didn't. If she had qualified the majority of them wouldn't have had a problem with her being in the tournament.

If she still makes the tournament, then these guys are justified for bitching about it like they are.

This is one of those things where you're going to sound bad no matter what you say. Not knowing how to word what he meant in a way that wouldn't piss people off is likely why Singh seems so conflicted.

god help me when I agree with Tiger, but he said: (i'm paraphrasing)

"Who gives a fuck"

exactly. Why's Vijay getting all wound up because there's a woman in his tournament? Who gives a shit? When they just insert the old guys who haven't made par in like 20 years into the Masters I don't hear any objections.

put it this way: If the press is true, I don't see how this woman couldn't qualify. And if she's no threat to him (most likely) and he's smart (possibly not quite as likely), don't say anything.

Don't say I hope she doesn't play and then say, uh, what I meant is I hope she doesn't beat me.

I apologize for getting all aggrevated about golf. I'm sure it makes all rational people here uncomfortable. :bonk:

I liked Vijay's sorry excuse for pulling out of the tournament: "I'm tired." Dude, it's fucking GOLF. How physically taxing could a "sport" be when Bob Hope can still play it?

Only reason anyone is really against a woman playing in a PGA tour event is because there are those "good ol' boys" that still exist that think it's just a Mens Club. Hell there are golf courses that still don't allow Blaks players to set foot on, even Tiger.

Letting her play does NOT take away a spot that someone else would have because it's a sponsor exemption. Exemptions are used for celebrities, aging PGA veterans that can't qualify anymore, and local golfers so fans have someone from the area to root for. I personally would rather see how she can play against the men rather than having someone who won't even appear on TV at all in the 4 days be involved.

I don't see why there is such a big deal of Annika its not like she is completly destroying the women competition so she needs a harder challenge but saying that i'm not bothered 1 way or the other if she makess the cut but she should have had to Qualify and just because guys like Nickalaus,Player and Palmer don't have to is no reason to say she shouldn't they get in because they are the legends of Golf not because they are after some publicity stunt.

I also think all Golf courses should allow all kinds of people but there are still people who grew up during the Black people are not worthy of full respect bullshit era that still run Golf Courses and other places and will refuse a black person or Women entry.

Places like Augusta National are private clubs, and as such, they can legally admit and exclude whomever they want. I'm not saying I agree with their policies (I certainly don't), but it's their right to be a good ol' boy he-man woman-haters club if they really want to do it.

Yes, but as with all things nowadays, equality is a double standard. In other words, if women and blacks are trying to fit in with men and whites, it's EQUALITY, but if men and whites try to fit in with women and blacks, it's racism or something of the sort.

why would a guy play in a woman's tournament?

seriously, why. is he trying to prove men are better at sports?

From what I understand, this guy couldn;t cut it on the men's tour, and with Martha Burke making such a stink about gender equality (which has since been revelaed as crap as its more about her getting her mug on TV than it is about women going to Augusta), he is trying to flip the script.

I *laughed* when the KKK in the area threw in their lot with Hootie Johnson.... if that one action doesn;t sum up the whole inane issue, I don't know what does.

As far as Annika goes, i hope that she kicks a few asses, and takes down some people a peg or two.

Former Masters winners are always allowed to compete in the Masters if they want to, even if they won 30+ years ago. Basically, once you win it, you can compete in the Masters for the rest of your life without having to qualify.

I could care less what Singh thinks on the issue(or about golf itself, for that matter), but man, Vijay's excuse for not being in the tourney made me laugh my ass off.

Whatta pussy.

Jason Whitlock wrote a hell of an article on the ESPN website. IMO, he summed it up perfectly.

She didn't make the cut! That's just too funny. I guess Vijay was right, she didn't belong on the PGA tour.

EDIT: To top it all off she's in the scorers tent crying!

Ah well, she tried. She didn't have the short game to make the cut.

And no Vijay was *not* right, he should have just shut up and played, the prick.

Whitlock was right, golf players are the biggest whiners in sports.

Okay, so she didn't make the cut, but here's the fucked up part: Many male golfers on the PGA Tour miss a couple or maybe even a handful of cuts per year. If the guy who won the Masters this year (David Toms, I think) had missed the cut at Colonial, no one would say, "See, he can't hang on the PGA Tour" because of it. Annika had ONE chance to do good, and if she didn't people will judge her and all other women golfers as not worthy. A guy can miss one cut and no one judges him on that one performance. It's not fair that Annika will be deemed "not worthy" now because of this.

I personally would like to see her play in another tournament. And let ViJay do whatever the fuck he wants. Annika's obviously got bigger balls than him.

She said today that this was it, she won't play in another PGA event. Which is good. But Max, she could play in every PGA event and she might make a couple of cuts, if she's lucky.

Annika earned my respect at least. She dominated her sport, so she set off on a higher challenge. I can't see how that deserves anything but commendation.

I do have all the respect in the world for the lady. She shot low 70's both rounds. As a golfer I can say that alone is incredible. But she was where she didn't belong.

What did she prove exactly? On her best day she can shoot +1?That's what I got from the media. She picked this course because of its small length on the tour. But her lack of distance compared to the men showed today. She had alot of lag putts, and she struggled with that.
