Astro101 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 From NWATNA.co. Total Nonstop Action officials, after several failed attempts at restoring order in the NWA among the various groups that fall under its roster (S.E.X., The New Church, Extreme Revolution, etc) have come up with a solution. In the process, wrestling fans will be treated to a most unusual series of matches that are both intriguing and action-packed. TNA officials have mandated to the NWA governing board that all wrestlers on the roster will be subject to be involved in an eight-team Asylum Alliance Tournament. Representatives from each feuding group will be involved, BUT not necessarily within their own faction on a given team! To clarify, an individual wrestler may be paired up with a wrestler from an opposing group to make a team (i.e., a member of S.E.X. with a wrestler from Extreme Revolution). At the end of the tournament, the winning team will be given a shot at the NWA World Tag Team Titles, currently held by XXX. This Wednesday night marks the beginning of the tournament, and you won't want to miss seeing who gets paired up with who! Other matches Wednesday include: Raven's Clockwork Orange House of Fun: Sandman vs. Sonny Siaki Sandman is used to this element, what with being one of the two original components of the first House of Fun match. This style is his so-called breeding grounds. For Siaki, this marks the first time he has stepped in to such a match. Literally everything goes and anything can be used as a weapon. How he will fair in such unique surroundings is all but a guessing game at this point. #1 Contender to the X Division Title Match Four of the top X Division competitors in the world today are coming in to the Asylum for an opportunity to prove themselves worthy of a title shot. Fans throughout the world have been captivated by the style and the talents who have made it their own. This week will give the wrestling world more of what it wants when this #1 Contender match hits the ring! And in response to the comments made last week by Jeff Jarrett, Glenn Gilberti has requested and received time to air his thoughts as well. Just what does Gilberti have to say about Jarrett, the NWA, S.E.X. and all the other hot topics in TNA? Tune in Wednesday to find out! All this and SO MUCH MORE this Wednesday night on pay-per-view!!! ------------------------------------------- I dunno...looks kinda meh to me. The 4 way should be nice since London will more than likely be on it. The Faction tag thing looks interesting. That's about it. TNA should just have an all out Faction War...just have one huge brawl. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I don't know how to write a preview for this...so I might not even try. 8 team tournament with feuding people on the same team... yeah... they're trying to hard to get creative now. Just buy a damn cage.
Guest CoreyLazarus416 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Buy a cage and light some tables on fire. 'NUFF SAID.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Seriously. AMW vs. New Church...should have ended in a cage dammit. With the semi-oldschool flavor that TNA has a cage match would be awesome.
Guest Slapnuts00 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Brining back Battlebowl=Not good idea! Ever seen WCW Slaboree 96? It features the same concept of WHACKY RANDOM TAG TEAM PARTNERS in a tournament and it was horribly boring. I've heard older versions weren't much better. The 4 way sounds intriguing, but I'd like to know who's in it. I don't know...looks like I might have to skip for the second week. Gilberti vs. Jarret is just not an intiguing enough feud to spend 10 bucks to watch...

Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I don't know. Even cheap indy promotions can put up a cage every so often... but TNA refuses to get on. So there has NEVER been a cage match in TNA...and there have been a few times where one would have fit perfectly.
Guest Coffey Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Alright, can someone list who all the wrestlers in each faction are so that I can get an idea of what types of teams we're going to see. Harris Brother A & Sandman is not a good team. Neither is Harris Brother B & Saturn.
Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Yup, even the poor-ass 30-people-drawing indy fed I used to work for had a steel cage, geez.
Guest eirejmcmahon Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Most of their top guys are elsewhere this week so I won't be watching.

Astro101 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 New match announced from Notes from Backstage: "The Asylum Alliance tournament will undoubtedly create turmoil in the tag team division, but the NWA has taken action to make sure that at least one team involved in the tournament is made up of a cohesive unit. NWA officials successfully lobbied to get permission to have a special qualifying match tonight between the hottest team in recent weeks, AJ Styles & D-Lo Brown and the team that dominated the tag division for much of the last year, America's Most Wanted." And Raven will be back refereeing the Clockwork Orange House of Fun match.

Why couldn't they have just said 'There will be an NWA trademark Lethal Lottery Tournament?' The whole card looks a little weird. Shark Boy and New Jack? Daniels/Red/Credible/Slash? Saiki in clockwork orange match? Random X Division 4 way. Looks a little weird to be honest. Oh well, could be a decent enough throwaway show.
Guest Smell the ratings!!! Report post Posted May 21, 2003 I predict New Jack and Shark Boy will go on to become the greatest team in the history of professional wrestling. seriously.
