I don't know how everyone else is doing it...but I've already done mine (will post after a couple others do so)...I went into lengthy details in some things.

Enjoy!

And feel free to cut the numbers if you can't think of 10 of something, or 5 of something, but please don't add. I spent a long time on mine...probably too long.

I'm actually bailing, so I'll just post mine now.

TOP 10 BUFFY CHARACTERS (non villan)

1. Willow Rosenberg...from start to finsh Willow was the best handled character. A questionable lesbian move, but in the end I think it worked out. I would have bitched a storm had Willow died. Aly's the best

2. Xander Harris...the only major Scooby on the show with no powers, yet he managed to contribute a great deal, even saving the world in season 6. I would have been pissed if he died.

3. Giles...served bigger roles in the earlier seasons, but still good at the end. Great father-like figure for Buffy as well.

4. Spike...even when he was good he was still bad. And in season 5 he was funnier then anyone else in any season. Plus he had a great death, saving the world and all. Became a better actor as the show went on.

5. Buffy Summers...well it's her show. Not the most interesting character at times. But SMG did a great job.

6. Anya...whether it's vengance demons, one-liner, or bunnies, Anya was always great. Her crude comedy durring drastic times was great, she just didn't know any better.

7. Oz...like Anya, always good for a laugh. Would have been higher had he been on the show longer. Great character and added something new to the show.

8. Jonathan...only had small parts in the first 3 seasons, but he was great in Earshot, and again in season 4 in Superstar. I didn't like the nerd trio too much, but I always liked his character. I actually yelled at the tv when he was killed.

9. Cordelia Chase...was kind of a heel, but she seemed to be on the right side in the end.

10. Tara...I really hated her to start, but I was really growing to like her by season 6. And her singing in Once More With Feeling was fantastic.

Angel just misses the lists...he was a better heel anyway.

TOP 5 BUFFY VILLANS

1. Mayor Richard Wilkins III...the Mayor is just the man. End of story. One minute he's talking about killing everyone who gets in his way and the next he's talking about the importance of milk to the human body. And he doesn't miss a beat doing it!

2. Angelas...the end of season 2 was so emotional. Was so evil and took such pleasure in it.

3. Faith...she played a pretty convincing evil bitch. Although she comes full circle at the end, she was better as a baddy.

4. Mr. Trick...just a cool overall character. I liked that he was more on the business side of things rather then getting into all the fights.

5. Caleb...love the character, it's a shame something this good had to wait till the very end.

D'Hoffryn would have made the list if he was in more episodes. I liked him, but he wasn't around much.

TOP 10 BUFFY EPISODES

1. "Passion," season 2...Angel kills Jenny. And the stuff Buffy, Willow, and Giles go through is just great. I don't think this would have topped my list a year ago. I like the episode the more I see it. Angelas was so perfect that season.

2. "Once More With Feeling," season 6...the musical, I can watch this over and over again and never get tired of it. It was cheesy and still got the storyline across. Other shows could learn from Joss how to make a good musical.

3. "Hush," season 4...the mostly voiceless episode. Groundbreaking and I can watch it anytime. Plus some good jokes came from not being able to talk.

4. "The Wish," season 3...Debut of Anya, I loved the whole other world. Xander and Willow evil, Buffy and Cordy die. And Giles was great.

5. "Chosen", season 7 final...I loved the final. Spike sacrifice alone puts the show in my top 10. I thought they ended the series well.

6. "Fool For Love," season 5...Spike tells the storys about how he killed 2 Slayers. And I'm all for episodes that go into Spike's past. Plus it had the cool crossover thing with Angel.

7. "Grave," season 6 final...Evil Willow was great, and her stuff with Xander at the end almost made me cry. Willow owned the episode.

8. "Becoming" pts 1 & 2, season 2...the end of a great run of episodes. Really sad ending and was the best example of Buffy having to give up what she loves for the sake of others.

9. "Restless," season 4 final...dream episode, Buffy did the dream deals better then other tv shows. I love everyone's parts in this one. Plus Spike and Giles on the swings is priceless.

10. "Earshot." season 3...Buffy can read people's minds and hears that someone's going to take out a bunch of students the nect day. Her stuff with Jonathan in the tower was just kick ass tv.

And so I don't take any heat for ignoring a great episode. "The Body" just hits way too close to home for me. I've only seen it once and that's all I need to see it. I know it's very good but I can't watch it. I don't care if it makes other lists, but I really don't want any mention here on why it's not in mine.

This was the hardest list for me to make, while going through episodes I didn't think I'd have this many that I would even consider top 10. I should have made a top 30...I'll add those on in another post when/if this picks up.

TOP 5 LEAST FAVORITE EPISODES

1." Doublemeat Palace," season 6...just a boring episode, felt like it went on forever. The only episode I truely hate. I think Joss would like to have that one back.

2. "Go Fish," season 2...bleh, this one just wasn't good. The evil steroid ridden swim team.

3. "As Your Were," season 6...pointless comeback for Riley. Just didn't do anything at all for me. Just seemed like it didn't have to happen.

4. "Anne," season 3...just bored the hell out of me. And what's worse is that it followed a great season ended.

5. "Inca Mummy Girl," season 2...just a dull episode. My #5 pick could have just as easily been "Reptile Boy"...which oddly enough aired next.

5 FAVORITE BUFFY MOMENTS

1. Buffy is awarded "Class Protector" at the prom, season 3...I don't know what it is about this. I just love that as high school ends the students finally come out and say they know what Buffy does for them, and that they appreciate it. Her hard work finally pays off for her. Very good moment.

2. Xander saves the world from Willow, seaosn 6 final...just love how a charcter who has no power could stop the world from ending. Very touching stuff.

3. Spike sacrifices himself to save the world, seaon 7 final...Spike's charcter was just great. James Marsters was the best actor on tv this year and it was a great redemption for the character who's caused so much bad.

4. Spike debuts (School Hard), season 2...right off the bat I knew I liked this guy. Gave us a new bad guy for the season and someone from Angel's past.

5. Angel kills Jenny/Giles finds the body, season 2...I was never a huge fan of Jenny anyway. I poped like a bastard when he snapped her neck. And it was harsh the way he proped her up at Giles' house and how he watched Buffy and Willow crying when they heard the news..."Passion" kicks ass!

I had to work this list a little different. Since I didn't want any of the "holy shit" moments to be in this one too.

TOP 5 HOLY SHIT! MOMENTS

1. Tara is shot and killed/Willow goes heel/Warren is killed, season 6...I knew something had to happen with Willow and Tara, cause it was just going too perfect for them. Then the shots comes through the window and Willow's shirt just splatters with blood...I was shocked. And then you get Willow who seems like the nicest person of all time and she goes O.J. on Warren

2. Buffy kills Angel, season 2 final...you knew it had to happen when the portal just kept getting bigger. And the way that it was done was just great. Joss writes great tv.

3. Caleb fights/Xander loses an eye, season 7...the charcter was cool. And evil woman hating preacher, and you thought Buffy would just waste him and be done with it...but when he started kicking ass and killing SITs, I loved the guy. And the eye was overly brutal, I was sure I would get a nightmare from that.

4. Anya dies, season 7 final...I knew it was coming, but I just didn't think it was going to be that extreme. I was a little uneasy with the way they did it.

5. Spike is restored his soul, season 6 final...you knew somethig weird was going to happen. I didn't think of his soul till about the split second before it happened. It got a "WHOA!" out of me. And it lead the way for James to do some great work the next season.

FAVORITE ONE-SHOT CHARACTER (only in one episode)

Ted, season 2...Joyce's evil robot boyfriend played perfectly by John Ritter. "I won't stand for malarky in my house, young lady!" After I saw that I said "malarky quite a bit. Ted was so corny he was cool.

3 LEAST FAVORITE CHARACTERS

1. DAWN!...I could have almost liked Dawn, but they screwed her maturing up too bad. Season 5 she was a crybaby, season 6 she was the same till the very last episode, and after that you're suppose to accept that she's some badas fighter, that's crap. I was praying for a bloody death.

2. Rona...how a character that was there such a short time managaed to bother me so much I'll never know. She just bitched and bitched and bitched. There was nothing likeable about the character.

3, The Annointed One...I had flashbacks of Seven from Married with Children...kid was just dull and added nothing to the show. I was just sitting around waiting for him to be killed.

I don't have the same Riley Finn hate as everyone else...but I can see why others do.

TOP 5 BUFFY WRITERS

1. Joss...I mean you can't go against the guy who started it all. Wrote: Becoming 1 & 2, Hush, Once More With Feeling, School Hard, Amends, Restless, The Gift, and the final. I love his sense of humor.

2. Jane Espenson...Earshot, Superstar, and other very good episodes.

3. Drew Goddard...as someone else said, rookie of the year. Wrote a ton of great stuff this year including Conversations With Dead People

4/5...TIE: Marti Noxon and David Fury

RANK THE SEASONS

1. Season 3...for the longeest time it was season 2, but going over the episodes again I see that I had way more favorites in season 3. The Mayor was just the shit, Mr Trick was cool, Faith was cool. My only problem is that it had little Spike.

2. Season 2...so-so season for the most part really. But the last 6 or so episodes were just all so great. Maybe the best run of episodes on the show. Angelas and Spike were great.

3. Season 7...I really liked how they finished it. I think part of it comes down to that I knew it was the last season and just couldn't wait to see what happens next. From the first episode with the Warren/Glory/Adam/Mayor/Dru/Master mindfuck, to Spike's redemption at the end. I loved it.

4. Season 4...I didn't hate the Initive as much as everyone else did. And I liked Adam, I could have just as easily switched spots with seasons 4 and 5 really.

5. Season 5...good season, I liked Glory, but I thought her death was taking the easy way out. Dawn hurts the season's ranking though, I didn't like that storyline.

6. Season 6...as a whole I wasn't diggin the season. But the stong finish with Willow, Normal Again, and Once More With Feeling made it great anyway.

7. Season 1...season 1 is not a bad season, but it's just hard to draw you in in only 12 episodes. Love the Master and they did a good job introducing the major players. And even though it's my least favorite season, I still love it.

FAVORITE QUOTES

Spike and Giles in Tabula Rase, when they think they're related. And when Spike thinks his name is Randy

Giles: "You think were brothers?"

Spike: "Pfft...Father. Oh God how I must hate you."

Spike: Randy Giles! Why not just name me Horny Giles! or In Desperate Need of A Shag Giles!"

Giles: "Randy's...a family name."

Spike: "I knew I hated you for a reason."

The again with Spike and Giles on the swings in Restless.

Spike: "Giles is teaching me to be a Watcher."

Giles: "He's like a son to me."

*swinging*

Giles: "Put your back into it. A Watcher scoffs at gravity,"

Buffy and Giles in The Yoko Factor.

Giles: "You never train with me anymore. He's (Adam) gonna kick your ass."

Buffy: "Are you drunk?"

Giles: "Yes, quite a bit actually."

*Buffy to Willow*

Buffy: "Tara's your girlfriend?"

Giles: *drunk in the background* "Bloody hell."

Xander Harris

"I'm just going to go home, lie down, and listen to country music. The music of pain."

"I laugh in the face of danger, then I hide till it goes away."

Actually, I could go on forever with just quote, so I'll leave it at that.

4. "Anne," season 3...just bored the hell out of me. And what's worse is that it followed a great season ended.

Aw man! I love Anne. It's my personal favorite season opener, I think. Ken was a great one-off villain, and it had the entirely random and beautiful "Wanna see my impression of Ghandi?" bit.

My full list to come sometime today. It's even longer than yours, Youth. I start typing about this show and just can't stop.

top 10 buffy characters

1: Spike: More because I am in awe of James Marsters acting abilities...

2: Anya: ALWAYS loved her. He lact of tact made up for Cordy leaving..then I liked her better than Cordy anyway.

3: Giles: Nuff said really...

4: Willow: Underwent the most gradual change than most people noticed and loved her character development.

5: Dawn: Love the character(yeah I know I'm probably the only one to have her on this list) She was probably the most realistic teenager I have seen on television..(I mean really...who talks like those kids on Dawson...really...)

6: Xander: I know...you see him at six and say What da deal! I loved Xanders character...normal guy that does it all for the sake of the world...just like the others better.

7: Buffy: I really disliked her at times. But she still is a kick ass character.

8: Faith: if she had been on the show more, I would have loved her more and she would be higher. Sexy as hell, smart mouthed with a evil streak(really should have had her explain what the hell 5x5 meant..)

9:Jenny Calender: Just been a mark for Robia La Morte since I first saw her sliding around in that Prince Video...damn sexy woman.

10: Joyce: I miss her...dammit..I really liked her motherly ways.

top 5 buffy villans

1: The Mayor: If not for his relationship with Faith he wouldn't be number one with me. It was that dynamic(him being caring and loving one minute and psycho the next) that really did it for me.

2: Glory: Fasionable...Sexy..funny...powerful...crazy as hell...what wasn't there to love.

3: Spike: Look at Marsters making the list twice...his I'm a badass routine that would switch to caring whenever Drucilla was around...beautiful.

4: Willow- It was only 3 shows...but dammit they were beautiful. She was so cold and mean...so not willow...I loved it.

5: Warren- This guy kicked so much ass. His slow fall from geek to mysoginistic psycho was wonderfully acted and written. Even when you see the robot show in season 5 you can see seeds being planted now.

top 10 buffy episodes- Tough...In no particular order(cause I could never pick)

1: Joss Whedon...as if you have to ask.

2: Drew Goodard...the man is a god

3: Marti Noxon...I love her eps.

4: Jane Epeson...or whatever...you know who I mean.

5: David Greenwalt...I know he is long gone, but I like his eps.

rank the seasons

okay...here we go...and this changes weekly by the way.

1: Season 3: overall the best damn year.

2: Season 5: Too many great shows to ignore

3: Season 2: great shows but to many blah ones to be higher

4: Season 6: I loved this season but didn't have any eps beside the musical that were "Oh god, I must make people watch this show" Like season 2 did. Narrowly behind Season 2

5: Season 7: actually, almost neck and neck with Season 6 and 2 to me...I loved it.

6: Season 4: Started off with a bang...that after hush there were only 3 more great shows.. I blame Finn.

7: Season 1: the weakest season with the lamest big bad(thats right, I'll take Adam over the Master)...yet it still was able to capture my heart...funny.

top 10 buffy characters

1. Xander Harris - Just cool from the beginning to the end. The only Scooby to not get incredibly powerful or have any real powers by the end (Hell, even ANDREW, if you want to count him, could do something special), and he still managed to be incredibly important.

2. Willow Rosenburg - C'mon, she's Willow. What more do you need?

3. Rupert Giles - Giles is another one of my favorites. I marked out about twenty times when he returned in the Season 6 finale.

4. Jonathan - Yes, Jonathan. I'm a total Troika mark and Jonathan is the coolest of the three.

5. Spike - Spike was also rockin'. Kinda lost interest in him during Season 6, so that's why he's below Jonathan of all people.

6. Faith - Faith was only around in three seasons, and in one of the seasons it was for like two episodes, but she's bad-ass and I frequently found myself rooting for her instead of Buffy.

7. Buffy Summers - I like Buffy, but the supporting cast almost always outdid her.

8. Cordelia Chase - Her evolution into a semi-involuntary Scooby was really cool.

9. Anya - Yeah, she's funny. I never really cared for her THAT much, but she was pretty cool, especially in Dopplegangland.

10. Andrew - Two seasons and that's all it took. "Storyteller" was the funniest episode in Season 7, no doubt.

top 5 buffy villans

1. Angelus - Can we say 'mindfuck'? I knew we could.

2. The Mayor - Just cool in how dorky he truly is. The "Aww, Shuck" evil was great.

3. The Troika - Not REAL villains, I guess, but I loved them anyway.

4. Mr. Trick - A bloody cool vamp. From his first apperance on I really liked him.

5. The Master - I dunno why I liked The Master. I just did. He was a good first big bad.

One step at a time

top 10 buffy characters

1. SPIKE - I said I liked him more than the beast... THE BEAST... My revelation to Spikes greatness came in 2 stages. The other day when watching a Buffy Marathon and it was the eps. "Family" where he punched Tara in the nose to see if she was really a demon... and the other time was when I was watching "Restless" and he was pretending to be the evil Black and White Vampire for the photographers... Now that Season 5 is airing again on SPACE I get to relive, imo, Spikes "peak". Watching the eps. where Dru came back yest. and Dawns hanging out with him and stuff... I was markin out like a motherfucker. As mentioned by Ripper, the scene in "The Gift" when all of them have seen the dead body of Buffy and Spike is acting like his world is over sobbing like a lil girl... awesome, awesome stuff. And can you get better than being an evil vampire who loves passions and onion blossoms? I think not.

2. Xander - Xander was the everyman. He was the only normal one throughout the show - he was in our position. We were to identify with him. He was the "eyes" of the show. If this was Lord of the Rings, he'd be Sam. Nothing special about him other than his heart. Oh, and he was hilariously funny. Great delivery, Great Lines, Great Character.

3. Giles: How do you explain Giles? I mean really? His character kicks ass in so many ways. When he killed Ben, that solidified it for me, Giles fucking rules it and he rules it hard. He's the guy who does what others can't and more importantly shouldn't do. I dunno if it's the British accent or not, but there is such nobility in this man. A silent strength.

4. Andrew: "Storyteller" sealed the deal - Andrew is god. I don't think I ever wanted someone on screen more than Andrew (ok, the Beast... but it's close). Why couldn't he and Amanda just get all Nerdy and Dirty with eachother, ya know? Andrew works well with everyone - Spike, Xander, Buffy, Dawn, Anya, Giles, everyone...

5. Buffy: Yes, her hotness has declined and fluctuates from time to time, and in some eps. she's downright annoying, but she's Buffy and SMG hit all the right notes when it counted (The Body, The Gift, the whole Angel deal).

6. OZ: It's been a long time, but at the time Oz was my favourite character. He was so sarcastic and a lil bit detatched... he was just one cool motherfucker that you'd all want to hang out with cause da ladies would see this small lil sacrastic cool guy who plays in a band and gravitate toward him but he can't seal the deal so you can move on in and work it to the max, playas. Plus his name is Oz. Does anyone know what's that short for?

7. Tara: F...F..FFFFFUCK WILLOW. Tara ownz. Where Oz was one laid back mothermellowfucker, Tara put the 'in' in insecurity, but when around Willow she was so calm and flowed. Just a sweet girl with a lazy eye... she had a lazy eye right?

8. Anya: Anya would be a 5 or 6 if it wasn't for season 6... When she was at her best, she was one of the best and I loved her. When she was at her worst, I fuckin hated her. I just wanted to pimpsmack her when she talked trash against Buffy and said that Buffy thinks she's better than everyone.. God whatta bitch... But she was goofy and corny for the most part, so she makes the list.

9. Faith: If it wasn't for her return this season I prob. wouldn't have her on the list. Yes, she is hot, Yes, she is badass... But fuck, "Yo B, what's the 411 yo, I be yo hook up yo", dat shits annoying after a while! Her interactions with Spike and Wood this season were top notch though, very smooth and dry and executed to perfection... A bit unnatural, but it's like a Film Noir or a Kevin Smith movie in that it's supposed to be...

10. Wood: I'm sorry, but c'mon, his scene with Faith in the finale was awesome! His scene w/ Spike where he was just kicking his ass was rockin too. He was just in for one season but it was enough for me to include him on the list. Plus I didn't want to put Willow or Cordy or Dawn or Joyce on the list cause they have annoyed me on too many occasions...

Top 10 characters

1. Spike (Marsters is law, Marsters is right)

2. Giles (Played off the rest nicely)

3. Willow (Character development, Character development, Character development. They ought to use her to teach future filmakers.)

4. Xander (Just liked how he was a regular shmoe in a group of people with special abilities)

5. Buffy (SMG made it work, but overshadowed by the others a bit. Plus, she never got back to the level of hotness she was at in Season 4)

6. Joyce

7. Faith

8. Andrew (this season sold me on him)

9. Principal Snyder (just loved how much of an asshole he was, better than the original one)

Quotes (I'd be here all day, but here are some:)

Spike (regarding Angel): He wears lifts, you know.

Buffy: Sometime I'm gonna have to lock you two in a room and just have you wrassle it out."

-------------------------------------------

Xander: How are you?

Buffy: My sister's about to go to the same high school that tried to kill me for 3 years, I can't change districts, I can't afford private school, and I can't begin to prepare for what could possibly come out of there. So, peachy with a side of keen, that would be me.

------------------------------------

Halfrek: No deaths, no eviscerations, you're not goading women into anything inventive, and you're not delivering when it is.

Anya: I don't even know—

Halfrek: That waitress downtown wished her husband was a frog — you made him French!

Anya: He's smelly! And with a little mustache...

-------------------------------

Spike: The-the thing is... I had a speech. I learned it all. Oh, god, she won't understand, she won't understand.

Warren: Of course she won't understand, Sparky. I'm beyond her understanding. She's a girl! With sugar and spice and everything... useless unless you're baking. I'm more than that. More than flesh— (He morphs into Glory.)

Glory: More than blood. I'm— you know, I honestly don't think there's a human word fabulous enough for me. Oh, my name will be on everyone's lips. Assuming their lips haven't been torn off. But not just yet. That's all right, though. (She morphs into Adam.)

Adam: I can be patient. Everything is well within parameters. She's exactly where I want her to be. And so are you, number 17. You're right where you belong. (He morphs into Mayor Wilkins.)

The Mayor: So what'd you think, you'd get your soul back and everything would be jim dandy? A soul's slipperier than a greased weasel. Why do you think I sold mine? Well, you probably thought that you'd be your own man. And I respect that. (He morphs into Drusilla.)

Drusilla: But you never will. You'll always be mine. You'll always be in the dark with me. Singing our little songs. You like our little songs, don't you? You've always liked them, right from the beginning. And that's where we're going. (She morphs into the Master.)

The Master: Right back to the beginning! Not the bang, not the word... the true beginning. The next few months are going to be quite a ride, and I think we're all going to learn something about ourselves in the process. You'll learn you're a pathetic schmuck, if it hasn't sunk in already. Look at you... tried to do what's right. Just like her. You still don't get it. It's not about right. Not about wrong.

(Cut from the Master to...)

Buffy: It's about power.

-----------------------------------------

Olaf the Troll: "Stop! Stop! It is Olaf!"

Villager #2: "The troll is doing an Olaf impersonation!"

Olaf: "I am Olaf!"

Villager #3: "Hit him with fruits and various meats!"

-----------------------------------

Olaf: I've told you a thousand times, I have no interest in this Rannveig. Her hips are large and load-bearing, like a Baltic woman. Your hips are narrow, like a Baltic woman from a slightly more arid region.

Etc, etc, etc.

This is all from the perspective of someone who started watching Buffy with the final Season 6 arc, after having seen maybe a half-dozen episodes altogether through its run and being exposed to lots of information about the characters and show through some very obsessed friend. Starting in about August, I watched season 7 as it developed and caught almost every single other episode on FX. And if you asked me to make this list again tomorrow, or after I rewatched some of seasons 4 or 5, I bet some of my opinions would be different. Here goes. If you read through it all, you're one hell of a trooper...

Top 10 characters

10. Wesley Wyndham-Price - Sure, he should be on an Angel list more than this, but he got great beginnings in Season 3 and actually made Giles seems like the cool one. His role in the Graduation battle still makes me laugh every time I see it.

9. Tara - I never liked the episodes that centered around her, but she was the most mature character on the show after Joyce died. A real comforting character.

8. Buffy - You know, she shouldn't be this low. One of the great rotagonists of our time.

7. Oz - Not around for all that long, but god, he was loveable. Between him and Xander, there was hope for good guys in the world.

6. Andrew - He made such an impact this season, giving a freshness to the routine that Xander and Anya had played for so long. I'm so glad he survived last night. He earned it.

5. Anya - She deserved better than what she got in "Chosen." As replacement for Cordelia, she did everything Cordy did better and more endearingly. Another great tale of redemption.

4. Xander - The character I've always identified with most. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.

3. Willow - Ohh, she's so good. Evolved so well from how she started to who she was; last night's finale was the perfect climax to Willow growing up, harnessing her power, and becoming great.

2. Giles - How do you not love Giles? He made a great father figure, and his attempt to kill Angelus in "Passion" still gives me chills.

1. Spike - the most dynamic character in the universe, from "School Hard" to "Chosen." There was never a time I didn't want him onscreen.

Top 5 villains

5. Glory! I don't know why people didn't like Glory. She was kinda stupid, but she was the best"infinitely stronger than Buffy" villain, and she pushed along probably the greatest overall arc the show ever saw.

4. The Trio, specifically Warren. They were the perfect recurring villains for Buffy's toughest season: humans who were faced with the challenge of growing up and, unlike the Scoobies, ignored it. Warren's transformation throughout the season and bringing the gun into it was shock of the real in the heaviest season of the show.

3. Angelus. Pure, wicked evil. Charcoal drawings, Jenny Calendar, the final swordfight...too sharp.

2. Faith! See why Season 3 is my favorite? Faith's slow turn and burn coupled with her pairing with the Mayor, then her awesome re-entry in Season 3, makes her a great #2.

1. Mayor Richard Wilkins III. The most human of the supernatural villains, and such a great split between funny and threatening.

Top 10 episodes

10. "Lover's Walk," s3 - Spike returns, love comes crashing down, and Cordy has her best scene ever in the hospital bed.

9. "The Wish," s3 - Anya's introduction and an incredibly sly reinvention of the Buffy world. See Best Moments.

8. "Fool for Love," s5 - Spike's origin, the subway fight, the oft-overlooked hilarious exploits of Team Scooby & Riley hunting vamps, Joyce's reckoning, and Spike's comfort on the steps.

7. "Conversations with Dead People," s7 - The truly classic episode from this season. Chills all around; a central concept, motherfucking Holden, parallel stories, and big reveals that would push this season along most of its way. Funny, gripping, amazing. In a few months this'll probably be even higher.

6. "Hush," s4 - You know it. God, season 4 started strong. This is an operatic, fantastic episode. And it has Giles' drawings!

5. "Pangs," s4 - The single funniest episode of the show I've ever seen. "You made a bear!" "Hey, watch it!" Thanksgiving dinner. Spike comes into his own as the funniest character on scene.

4. "The Zeppo" - Xander time. A parody apocalypse while Xander really saves the day, with one-liners, Faith-banging, and a strong-willed triumph. Love it. Middle of s3 = unstoppable.

3. "Intervention" - Overlooked by many. The Buffybot reigns supreme! The vison quest and Giles' hokey-pokey! Spike gets tortured by Glory, and Buffy kisses him at the end. Great fight scene, great humor, great story-progressing episode that did just as much for plot as for characters.

2. "The Body" - What needs to be said? The most harrowing, artful hour of television.

1. "Becoming, Part II" - This is what blew the doors down--the original amazing hour. This is the ep that got me into Buffy and moved me to tears even though it was one of the first I'd ever seen.

Honorable mentions especially to "Lie to Me," "The Harsh Light of Day," "Earshot," "Passion," "Lies My Parents Told Me," "Bad Girls"/"Consequences," and countless others that dealt with complex issues well.

Least Favorite Episodes

3. "I Was Made To Love You," s5. It has Joyce's death at the end as the ultimate shock, but other than that, it's pain. Poorly directed, painfully obvious, and just not funny, interesting, scary, or anything worthwhile. Jane Espenson's one huge misstep.

2. "All the Way," s6. Season 6's first Dawn-centric episode, and the worst of that season. This is the Halloween ep where she has her first kiss with OHMYGOD A VAMPIRE BOY! The focus is all on Dawn, who at this point was the most pointless and least interesting character on the entire show. It's not funny. It's not cute. It's not poignant. It's painful to watch, and symptomatic of one of Season 6's worst consistent flaws.

1. "Killed By Death," s2. The one where Buffy's in the hospital and there's the evil invisible fairy tale demon killing kids, and we get a HORRIBLE flashback where we learn that Buffy had some cousin and that OHMYGOD the Kinderstick or whatever killed HER and there was NOTHING BUFFY COULD DO ABOUT IT! Talk about some awful, awful retcon. Not funny, not gripping, not anything. The shittiest of the many shitty Season 2 Monster-of-the-week episodes, and worthwhile only for the brief Xander/Angel confrontation in the hospital lobby.

Honorable mentions to "Go Fish," "Wrecked," and "Listening to Fear."

Best moments

5. Spike breaks down crying at the end of "The Gift." Immense pathos to end his season 5 arc, and then the slow fade to "She saved the world a lot." Perfect.

4. The end montage in "Conversations with Dead People." "Cassie" morphs away, Spike chows down, and Buffy stakes Holden. Did I mention perfect?

3. The entire final sequence in "Becoming, Part II." Spike's rise out of the wheelchair, Xander rescuing Giles, the amazing final battle, and Angel goes to hell. Perfectly orchestrated.

2. Anya's speech in "The Body." Still makes a strong man cry.

1. "The Wish":

Anyanka: "How can you be sure the other world's any better than this one?"

Giles: "It has to be."

The slow-motion sequence thereafter, with the deaths of everyone in the alternate world, and especially Oz staking willow on the jail cell, all while Giles hand smashes down on the amulet--it was the perfect parallel for everything going on in the real Buffyverse at the time, emotions translated into physical, shot artfully, set up beautifully...it might be one of the best sequences I've ever seen anywhere, period. I could write a full essay on how well this last minute is executed, but I'll spare you.

Holy shit moments

5. Jenny gets her neck snapped in "Passion." Holy shit, dude.

4. Glory is Ben. No one saw that coming the way it did.

3. The end of "Sleeper" this season, a Bringer axe at Giles' neck. Started a lousy cheap arc, but oh my god, how terrified I was for the rest of that night and many days beyond. I actually said "Holy shit" after this one.

2. Tara gets plugged at the end of "Seeing Red." Also actually said "Holy shit."

1. Caleb takes Xander's eye. I thought getting stabbed up by Ashanti was the worst that would ever happen to him. Wow. This set the "we're all toast" tone for the whole final arc.

One-Shot character - Tough call. I really loved the whole idea behind Buffy's friend in "Lie To Me," as well as the zombie gang in "The Zeppo"...but I'm giving it to Holden the vamp from "Conversations with Dead People."

Writers

5. Marti Noxon. Wrote a lot of filler, but deserves a lot of credit for taking on most of the early heavy episodes Joss didn't touch.

4. Doug Petrie fell off this year, but he carried a lot of Season 3, 4, and 5...and he wrote "Fool for Love."

3. Drew Goddard. Only reason he isn't number 2 is because he was only around this season, but his body of work was flawless. He soloed "Selfless," "Never Leave Me," and "Dirty Girls," and teamed up with Espenson and Fury to write "Conversations with Dead People" and "Lies My Parents Told Me."

2. Jane Espenson. Funny as hell, clever, and just great great great. "Intervention" is the best combo of plot advancement and character dev. in a single episode, and "Pangs," "Band Candy," "A New Man,"

"Storyteller," and any of her comic ventures always make me laugh hard.

1. Joss Whedon. The obvious choice, but he earned it. "Hush," "The Body," "Lie To Me," "Innocence," "Becoming Part II," "Dopplegangland," "The Gift," "Once More With Feeling," and now "Chosen," among others. Can't stop the man on top.

Rank the Seasons

3 - Lover's Walk, The Wish, The Zeppo, Bad Girls, Consequences, Faith Hope & Trick, Earshot, Amends, Graduation Day Pt 1 & 2. You can make a respectable 10 best episodes just from this season.

5 - Some filler, but the most epic overall arc and the peak of that balance between maturity and goofiness.

7 - Maybe a little bias since it's the only one I watched in order completely unspoiled, but I was charmed with the experiments they tried and most of the character moments. Some holes, but great writing saves it.

2 - This season is cool and good, but there are a *lot* of filler episodes. The ultimate arc of Buffy vs. Angelus is great, but the one-offs for this season tended to be really, really weak.

4 - How can a season with "The Harsh Light Of Day," "Hush," "Pangs," "Something Blue," "Restless," "A New Man," "This Year's Girl," "Who Are You," "Wild at Heart," "The Yoko Factor," and "Primeval" be this low? The Initiative, Maggie Walsh, and the flattest romance the show ever explored: Buffy and Riley Finn. Had the cleverness, lacked the emotions; the standalones are greater than the some of Season 4's parts.

6 - 6 is my second to least favorite season? But it's so dark and complex and amazing! That speaks to how great Buffy is--the weirdest, most psychosexual season they did is still topped. The whole magic =

drugs thing went on too long, and except for the Trio this season wasn't very funny. Not much of one for standout eps, either.

1 - The first season has some great moments and isn't bad by any stretch, but it's just simplistic and basic compared to what came after. Welcome to the Hellmouth indeed.

As for quotes? I could go on for hours more. But one personal favorite that always gets me:

"I watched Passions with Spike. Now let us never speak of it again."

You know, I only saw "Normal Again" the first time it aired, and I remember thinking it was kinda silly. But I also had barely seen any Buffy at that time, and I think I'd been drinking.

Maybe I should watch it again. A lot of the "Buffy's ending oh my god ahhhh" retrospective things all the fansites have been having mention it here or there, which is odd, because it never struck me as being too momentous.

Or maybe BPS is just a nutjob.

Buffy's sister and Faith are my favorites.

You are kidding right? About Dawn I mean. Even if you understand why she acts the way she does I still don't see how she could be a favorite.

After Season 5 she's been useless. She should have died at the end of season 5.

::shrug:: She's not that bad. I thought she was great in season 5, worthless in 6, and pretty good in season 7, though the writers pretty stopped doing anything with her after "Potential." No more offensive than the rare Riley fan, I'd say.

I'm not a nutjob.

Normal Again makes Season 6 great. It presents you with a situation to explain EVERYTHING that ever was and then doesn't give you a straight answer about what is real.

Glory: I'm a god.

Spike: The god of what, bad home perms?

Glory: Shut up! I command you to shut up!

Spike: Yeah, okay, sorry, but I just had no idea that gods were such prancing lightweights. Mark my words, the Slayer ... is going to kick your skanky, lopsided ass back to whatever place would take a cheap, whorish, fashion victim ex-god like you.

Buffy: Spike, what are you doing here? Five words or less.

Spike: [Counting each word on his fingers] Out. For. A. Walk...Bitch.

and there are loads more....

BTW, I forgot who mentioned it in the Buffy folder, but I think the reason they dodn't have any flashbacks or a montage at the beginning is becasue I don't think UPN has the rights to air anything earlier tahn season 6. I'm not sure, but that could be a reason.

3. Spike

4. Andrew

5. Buffy

6. Giles

7. Tera

8. Angel (he had his moments)

9. Giles

10. Anya

Best Villians:

1. Angelus (probably the meanest villian to date)

2. Glory

3. The Mayor (eh)

4. Evil Willow

5. Caleb

Worst Villians: Adam/Rona

Best Episodes:

1. Becoming, pt2

2. Once More, With Feeling

4. Conversations with Dead People

5. The Body

6. Passion

7. Hush

8. Caleb's Debut episode

9. The Gift

10. Chosen

Worst Episodes: I can probably think of more, but the worst this season was that one about the girl who prredicts her own death. Very flat, very boring episode that made me hate that girl.

Top Five Buffy Moments:

1. The Destruction of the school at the end of season 3

2. Buffy's grave at the end the Gift

3. THe entire evil Willow saga

4. The Harvest-like scene in The Chosen

5. The end of Becoming, pt2

Holy Shit moments:

1. Thumb to the eye! I never saw it coming.

2. Tera messes up Willow's dress. I didn't realise at the time that they just killed her off.

3. Giles in the doorway during Evil Willow.

4. Anya's death

5. The principal getting eaten at the end of season 3

Fav 1 shot character: Spike's dumb blonde girlfriend in season 4. What happened to her?

Top writers: Don't know the writers too well, but Joss did a hell of a job with the show.

Rank the seasons:

1. Season 5: Even though Dawn was a major player everything in this season seemed to click.

2. 2: Angelus, Spike, and Dru. No contest.

3. 7. I think this season on a whole had the best episodes, and the bbest acting.

4. 3: The end of high school. Transition to both both a mature Buffy and the first season of Angel.

5. 1: Good, writing, but some genewric scripts: Buffy fights giant Mantis, buffy fights computer demon, etc.

6. 6: Not the best, but picjked up at parts.

7. 4: Season that almost made me stop watching. Riley's a wuss.

Favorite lines:

Pretty much everything from the amnesia episode.

Robo Buffy(reading off what it knows about Willow): Hi Willow, how is it being my friend the witch who's a lesbian?

Another quote. Spike's kinda stalking Buffy in season 5 or 6 and Buffy tells him he'd better explain what he's doing there (at the house) in 5 words.

Spike: *counting on his hand* "out-for-a-stroll...bitch"

And since I could only make a top 10 list for episodes...the following are all tied for #11

Prophecy Girl, season 1

School Hard, season 2

Lie To Me, season 2

I Only Have Eyes For You, season 2

The Zeppo, season 3

Lover's Walk, season 3

Fav 1 shot character: Spike's dumb blonde girlfriend in season 4. What happened to her?

Harmony was no one-shot! Harmony was in a ton of episodes. I think she was even in the first season, and I know she was in 2 and 3 as the leader of Cordy's little clique. You don't remember her as Spike's accomplice/girlfriend for the first half of season 5? She walks out on him in "Crush."

Stuff I want to add to my list:

Top 3 Least Favorite Characters:

1. Rona - What was her purpose? Even when she was about to be endowed with powers she bitched.

2. Dawn - I get it, she's a teen with problems. But the sudden, "oh look I'm cool now" was just rediculous. Plus she should have died in Season 5 (more on that later)

3. Riley - Marc Blucas is a bad actor and this character was annoying from the start. All his bad jokes that all fell flat and his rediculous arguments with Buffy made me hate him more.

Plus I wanted to mention something I just thought of about "The Gift". The whole point of Dawn bleeding to death is that the blood was a way of pouring the mystic energy that Dawn was made of into the portal. That energy was what opened it...not the blood itself. Therefore no matter if Buffy and Dawn had the same blood or not, Buff DID NOT have the mystical energy that Dawn had. Buffy jumping into the portal should have done jack crap.

Ms. Calendar: "You're here again? You kids really dig the library, don't you?"

Buffy: "We're literary."

Xander: "To read makes our speaking English good."

Best line in the show

I can't BELIEVE I forgot Normal Again...

I remember saying I thought it was on of the best episodes ever after watching it...and bps being the only one agreeing with me.

When the doctor was explaining everything...it just made so much sense. It was plain Spooky. Of course I LOVED season 6 more than most so maybe I am a little jaded. But hey.

Way too little appreciation for season 1 here. Some of those episodes are great, and the writing is just very, very witty. I'm too lazy to write everything out, so I'll make do with best episodes, none of which are in order except the absolute best:

5 - Prophecy Girl, season 1 finale. I just like this one more and more in comparison to the last two or three years. The Master was awesome, but this is one of those episodes that have been all too rare in the latter years - an episode where Buffy herself is just cool, interesting and a fantastic character.

4 - The Zeppo. Inspired parody, and full of Xander greatness.

3 - Innocence. Only the scond part, Surprise actually isn't that great in comparison. A perfect use of metaphor and emotional turmoil.

2 - Becoming Part 2. Ah, its great, isn't it.

1 - Passion. Fucking excellently mindblowing. A perfect episode. Some truly remarkable scenes, goes beyond anything most TV shows could ever imagine.

Shit, I forgot Hush. And Restless. And Graduation Day, the Wish, Doppelgangland, Nightmare, Conversations with Dead People, School Hard, Lover's Walk, Something Blue, Revelations....Wow, what a great show its been.

Alrighty-Roo, here's mine.

top 10 buffy characters

spike - i appreciate his one liners and interaction with other characters, also I'm such a sucker for the bad guy turned good thing. Total Green Ranger/Vegeta

buffy

xander

cordelia

willow

dawn - an insecure, overly emotional teen. portrayed very well by Michelle Trachtenberg "You ever try mixing parts of every cereal you've got into one bowl?"

giles

andrew - geeks are cool. also another bad guy turned good.

oz

top 5 buffy villans

angelus

faith

mayor - what a dork, an alternate type of evil which brings me to my next villan entry...

geek trio

the first - also alternative in the sense of how abstract it was but the buffy creators made it work.

top 10 buffy episodes

Conversations With Dead People - Here we go...

Fool For Love

Innocence

Flooded

Life Serial - "This is gonna be great..." *ring* i'm looking for a mummy hand... *chug alcohol* "gah"... this episode was very fun to watch.

Gone - Invisible Buffy with a haircut, I always have to watch this and Life Serial together.

Hush - can't even shout, can't even cry... how about an episode with a half hour without dialogue. they made it work - again, fun to watch

Earshot - reasons for liking this episode have already been mention and for I think Buffy looked exceptionally hot in this episode.

Restless - had to watch this twice to appreciate it. pretty cool

Normal Again

top 5 buffy moments/top 5 holy shit! moments (Hard for me to distinguish so I'll just put 10 of my favorite moments here.)

Smashed - Spike's chip doesn't work if he attacks Buffy. Ends with Spike and Buffy in a nasty fight with some very hurtful trash talk leading into the two of them getting pelvic.

End of Conversations... - Dawn's vision of Joyce. The First in the form of Cassie trying to convince willow to kill herself. Spike has a chip and a soul yet is manipulated by the first to feed and sire vampires.

End of Lessons - Spike is crouched looked very bothered and Andrew is talking to him. Andrew morphs into other past villains (Adam, Mayor, Glory, The Master ...) and ends with Buffy. I was hoping to see Angel at this point but still very "holy shit!" with a shot of "what the fuck!?!"

Buffy raised from the dead

Spike at the end of Chosen. Does his part to save the world. Ends with some kind of connection with Buffy. When he is dusted he's laughing with that pucker grin of his.

Get It Done - Spike at the high school getting his black coat which had been kept away up until then, Buffy's vision of the ubervamps in the hellmouth

Xander & Willow at the end of Grave

Spike at the end of Doomed

getting tired, 8 will have to do.

favorite one shot character

Holden Webster the Psychiavamp from Conversations. Very cool interaction with Buffy.

I'd like to mention that I also enjoyed the variations of the main characters

Buffybot (Intervention, Bargaining)

The First Evil As Performed by Sarah Michelle Gellar (Season 7)

Evil Demon Wicca Willow (Two to go, Grave)

Evil School Girl Vampire Willow (Dopplegangland, The Wish)

Vampire Xander (The Wish)

Split in 2 Xander (The Replacement)

Rock Star Giles (Restless - Giles: It's strange, it's not like anything we've faced before.. but it seems familiar somehow... of course! The spell we cast with Buffy must have released, some primal evil that's come back seeking - I'm not sure what, Willow, look through the chronicles for some reference to a warrior-beast! I've got to warn Buffy! There's every chance she might be next! And Xander, help Willow and try not to bleedon my couch, I just had it steam-cleaned...)

I'm sure there are more but that's enough for now. Let me also mention that I hate Riley.

top 5 writers (i don't have much knowledge of behind the scenes. so i'll just say the creators of the show are awesome.)

rank the seasons - 2, 3, 7, 6, 4, 5, 1

favorite quotes/one liners

Spike: Hey that's cheating. (from Gone)

Faith: (to Buffy after training with wesley in Dopplegangland) You're gonna have a blast B. It's just like fun... only boring.

(from Bad Girls)

Wesley: Buffy, you will go to the Gleaves family crypt and fetch the amulet

Buffy: I will?

Wesley: Are you not used to being given orders.

Buffy: Whenever Giles sends me on a mission he always says please. And afterwards I get a cookie.

...

Buffy: (exiting scene) try not to say anything incredibly interesting while i'm gone.

I guess that's enough for my Buffy list.

Thanks for reading.
