ravenlo 0 Report post Posted May 21, 2003 Shouldn't we give him a break? After all, this could very well be his last run in WWE-let's hope for the best(in terms of how he'll work in the wwe and how his reaction will be), since he could still go(see his match vs. Muto last year in All Japan). Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted May 21, 2003 That will make once again TWO Steve Williams in WWE... Bishoff can bring him in as the "real" Stone Cold and we can have the Austin/Williams feud we have been dieing to see since 1996. Lee Majors should sign and him and Steve Austin could have a feud over who the real Steve Austin is.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted May 21, 2003 WWE could also sign Austin Idol
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted May 22, 2003 WWe is so worried about injuries that they're in the process of changing their wrestling style. So what do they do...they hire Dr. Death...who happens to be really stiff. That makes perfect sense...in Vince's demented mind.
Guest AndrewTS Report post Posted May 22, 2003 Uh oh...I think JR's going to be busting out his copies of Penthoss he's going to be so excited. Well, unless he's responsible. Is this Ace or JR's doing? Anybody know? I wonder if Crips or Big Gimpy will be taking any bumps for him...

No. There's no reason for him to be employed in the WWE (well, maybe as an agent).
Guest godthedog Report post Posted May 22, 2003 one of the softest workers in the country, who has the most pussy chairshots in the history of the world because he prides himself on not working stiff & hates people who DO work stiff... vs... one of stiffest gaijins ever. smell the irony. i keep picturing dr death picking up storm like a rag doll & backdropping him on his head 3 times in a row. Guest Dynamite Kido Report post Posted May 22, 2003 Very surprising here, too bad he won't be able to work effectively in the WWE. This guy can only wrestle in the stiff Japanese style.
Guest Lord of The Curry Report post Posted May 22, 2003 I can't wait for Bradshaw and Williams to team up and form The Outlawz 2003.
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted May 23, 2003 (edited) Steven Williams, one of the stiffest gajins ever? Your joking right. Dr. Death was actually one of the least stiffest workers in 90s All Japan, Kawada was the only guy that would really mix it up with him. After the Kawada matches, he got a little more daring, but he never was anywhere near the stiffest worker or gajin around. The Dangerous Backdrop is the one excpetion where he didn't hold back, but neck bumps wasn't that out of the ordinary by the time he started regulary using it. Kobashi had already taken a Homicide Driver from Stan Hansen, before the infamous 93 match where some dumbasses claim that Steven Williams invented the move. Oh and more thing... Motivated Steven Williams(94-95)>anything Kurt Angle did And working stiff has jack shit to do with it. I haven't seen Doc's recent work, but I doubt he will ever reach that level again, considering he was detoriating by 96. Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 23, 2003 The whole "Steve Williams" thing...as much of a RATINGS GRABBER as it would surely be... wouldn't work in the first place because not many marks know of Austin's real name. let's just hope he kills Test. Which will lead to Test/Shane vs. JR/Williams. The match is cut off in the middle and turned into a make out contest

I was about to say, because Williams was notorious for not working stiff with natives.
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted May 25, 2003 Well here's how the match went, does anyone reckon he got a job? Williams got a huge pop seeing as he lives in the area and many in the arena have connections with him (including myself). This match was almost completely done on the mat. Storm worked on Williams's arm/shoulder throughout the match. Lots of submission maneuvers throughout the match. Williams countered an attempt at an arm drag. He landed a spine buster and got a long 2. He whipped Storm into the corner. Storm tried to flip over a charging Williams but Williams caught him and landed the Oklahoma Stampede 1...2...3... Williams looked to be in very good shape. Winner: Dr. Death Steve Williams.
Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted May 25, 2003 If Dr Dull was going over, couldn't they have fed someone else to him ? Williams isn't even on the roster, and they're putting him over someone who is. That is so wrong.
Guest jm29195 Report post Posted May 25, 2003 I'm presuming they put him over Storm because it's near the good doctor's hometown and they were trying to make up to the crowd for giving the them HHH vs Steiner instead of the advertised HHH vs Booker?
Guest BionicRedneck Report post Posted May 25, 2003 Williams was awesome in 90s All Japan. Now he is old, broken down and this is WWE. I am not to excited about this. Especially considering that the homicidal backdrop (the one thing about Williams that will ALWAYS be awesome) will be banned.
Guest bob_barron Report post Posted May 25, 2003 I think they just used him to make the crowd happy. I don't think he's getting a contract- Meltzer hasn't mentioned it yet

Guest Redhawk Report post Posted May 25, 2003 I started re-watching wrestling around the same time Michael Cole got a job, so forgive me for not knowing the names of many moves. So what is the Homicide Backdrop? A backdrop, from what I've learned, can either be the suplex-from-behind (the one Rock always takes by blatantly covering his head) thing that Benoit does, or a "BAAAAAAACK BODYDROP" (sayeth Vince) that everyone does and you learn on Tough Enough. Explain Dr. Death's version.
Guest Banky Report post Posted May 25, 2003 Him and JR aren't exactly the bestest of buds anymore. JR pretty much had him fired in 98. And Dr Death repaid him with the Oklahoma skits in 99.

Explain Dr. Death's version. Instead of landing his opponent on his back, Dr. Death lands him SQUARE on the top of his head. I mean like, he spikes the guy vertically, and it looks quite sickening; it's often at such a high angle that the guy taking it ends up face-DOWN on the mat. Guest saturnmark4life Report post Posted May 26, 2003 What is the point? I like the guy, but none of the casual fanbase has any reason to give a fuck about him, he has nothing to offer in a restricted environment and is well past his prime. Vince is scaring me now, he's one step away from digging up corpses and having them work house shows. This HAS to be a one shot deal.
Guest Nevermortal Report post Posted May 26, 2003 Does anyone remember when Doctor Death gave the JR impersonator a Homicidal Backdrop on Raw? That was a stiff fucking shot.

And it's a shame some people don't know the name of moves because of these lousy, shitty commentators shilling other matches or babbling instead of calling the match. JR used to call the match, although he would always call a side slam a "sidewalk slam" and make a few other mistakes.

JR used to call the match, although he would always call a side slam a "sidewalk slam" and make a few other mistakes. On that note, does it piss you off when JR calls La Resistance's finisher a "flapjack" when really it's just a double "spinebuster" (although technically it's a double sidewalk slam since they don't spin the guy around)? A flapjack lands the guy on his face, not his back. That really irks me. Stupid human.
