HHH On Byte This Recap

Recommended Posts

Guest AndrewTS
HHH had backstage power from 99-01...yet the smarks loved him.

But 02-03 he still had his backstage power...and we hate him.

Right, when he was over and had good matches we didn't mind. Ric Flair did the same thing. He had the power of the book, but he would put people over for the title a lot the time.

I still didn't like HHH in 2000... But that was mainly because of his fans proclaiming him to be the god of wrestling... Stupid fans.

I've never actually liked HGH at all, I've just tolerated him. I've never liked him because I've never liked any look he's ever had. His insistance on having from 30-50lbs of excess muscle mass hasn't helped. I tolerated him the most when he first came into the WWF, because he looked like a wrestler and not a bodybuilder.

Yeah, I'm a idiot for stereotyping smarks. And yeah, I agree on the whole '12 year old kids' thing being a cheap insult. There's been some cheap insults on this side too as well don't forget. But HHH just needs to be a little less childish aboutt his whole thing.

Considering what he did on Raw X, I doubt that will happen anytime soon.

Ric Flair did the same thing. He had the power of the book, but he would put people over for the title a lot the time.

I wouldn't exactly say that...

Flair made Ronnie Garvin into a lame duck challenger and champion just so he could beat him at Starrcade, traded wins with Steamboat in 89 and then pretty much dominated him ever since then, jobbed to Sting in 90 only to beat him later on only to refuse to job to Luger and threatened to quit(again) til Herd fired his ass.

The ultimate irony in that was that Hogan soon did the same exact things to him in 94 that he did to others eariler.

Dusty Rhodes was the booker when the Flair-Garvin-Flair title changes happened. It was to set up Flair winning the title back at NWA's first PPV, Starrcade '87, and Garvin was the only babyface Rhodes was willing to have lose clean to Flair.

So what if we haven't been in the business?

WE'RE THE ONES WHO ARE EXPECTED TO WATCH IT. AND THEREFORE WE PAY THEIR SALARIES.

This attitude explains a lot, though.

We are apparently not allowed to have a negative opinion unless we're in the business (so I'm sure that if a guy fresh out of OVW comes in with some constructive criticism, HHH will gladly listen to him and consider what he has to say without getting him into trouble. Uh huh. Wink wink.)

So, if only people who have worked in the business are allowed an opinion, therefore they are booking the shows only for the people who do work in the business.

And since WWE pretty much *is* the business in North America, they are booking only to please themselves.

Sounds about right.

He continues to bash the internet, yet his current feud with Nash has been booked in a way that only smarks "get it". The "evil internet fans" are the only ones that would know his history with Kevin Nash, which is what the entire feud is based around. Nash and HHH were never friends on WWE TV before now, so their entire feud stems form the days of the Klique, that only smarks understand. You have to love WWE hypocrisy.

Once upon a time that might have been true, but this stuff has all been played out on TV for the masses in many forms. DX started it with X-Pac's shoot promo, HHH and Russo continued it when they were building HHH up for a title run (having HHH shoot interviews with JR where he would bitch about getting screwed because of the MSG incident), and stuff like Confidential has kept it out there and expanded upon it. I would bet a lot of the fanbase has at least a passing knowledge of this kind of stuff, to the point of knowing there's some history between HHH, Michaels, Nash, Hall, etc.

True, they have spoke of the kliq's history on WWE TV, however most marks still don't understand it. I was watching my HHH DVD with a friend who is a mark, and they showed the interview where HHH bitches to JR about being held down (ironic huh?) and they showed the MSG incident, and by the end of it he still didn't get what it was all about. Other marks I know don't get why HHH and Nash were friends. Some marks get the kliq stuff, but the angle is still geared towards mostly smarks, with several nudge-wink moments and insider references that only internet fans would understand.
