Well done horror movies...

Last House on the Left

- Girls get killed by drifters. Drifters get lost. Drifters meet parents. Carnage ensues.

Mark of the Devil

- Evil, evil movie. All I can say is.... "Head in a Vice".

Nosferatu (Both versions)

- Nothing can compare to Murnau's version....except the remake. I thought it was pretty fucking tremendous, and its shot oh so beautifully, especially the scenes with Nosferatu in the church, and the beachside graveyard. Especially the latter. What a fucking awesome shot that was.

The Church

- Demons & Witches raping and killing peasants! What's not to like?

The Breed

I just got finished watching this. It's not great but it's a fairly good vampire movie and it's well made as far as atmosphere and set design goes. It's a modern type of vampire movie, but it looks like an old vampire movie. It's not a pure horror movie either, it's more of a action/horror movie.

By modern I mean there's no stakes to the heart, garlic, holy water, crucifix, death by sunlight, coffins filled with dirt. All of the classic Hollywood vampire stuff is thrown out. It's one of those vampire movies that treats it like a virus or a disease. So basically it's realistic vampires.

The acting is shitty at times namely Bokeem Woodbine who's awful as the "street tough cop who doesn't know how to handle vampires being real". Also the script goes in alot of directions and tries to do TOO much. With that said it has great atmosphere and it's interesting enough to be entertaining.

It's worth a rental if nothing else.

I echo the sentiments for The Breed. Good plot to it, nonetheless, and it becomes more along the lines of a crime-drama than a vampire movie.

Night of the Living Dead

Dawn of the Dead

Serpent and the Rainbow

Re-Animator

Halloween

Requiem for a Dream (not exactly a horror flick, but this does show the horrors of drug addiction better than any DARE program ever could)

Exorcist

Last House on the Left. It has some useless sub-plots, like the parents getting the house ready for the girl to come home and the cops walking to the house after the car breaks down, but the rest is fucking great.

I'd suggest Mother's Day on DVD, but I've not heard if the commentary is good or not

Evil Dead

Hellraiser 1 and 2, but stop there

House

I don't understand the Dead Alive love. The kung-fu priest was great, I honestly loved that scene, but the rest was pure and utter shite.

and the usual suspects like Halloween, Dawn of the Dead etc. etc.

The Ring/Ringu

Uzumaki

Suicide Circle

Cure (it's like Seven mixed with Memento, only it's Japanese and has no ending)

Has anyone seen Ichi The Killer yet?

I have! It's pretty funny. Got to love the ending and Ichi's last line.

House 2 isn't very good, but I loved it as a child. Plus the dude in it has the same last name as me.

which dude? There's like five dudes in that movie

You've got Bill Maher, John Ratezenberger, John Stark (of Fright Night), character actor Royal Dano, and dull male lead Ayre Gross. Throw in Amy Yasbeck and that's a sweet cast.

It was the character name, not the actor's name. I don't remember which dude, I haven't watched it in years. My last name is McLaughlin, so whichever dude had that name.

The Dead Alive love comes from the excess gore, Uncle Thes, the zombie baby, the fornicating zombies...

...and the fact that it's pure cheese with lots of zombie-loving gore. :D
