From ROHwrestling.com

Yes, you read that right. Legendary manager Jim Cornette will be at the 8/9 Ring Of Honor event in Dayton, Ohio. Cornette called ROH owner Rob Feinstein and said he not only wanted to come and watch the show, but he has something he wants to do. What could it be? Why would the head of WWE developmental territory Ohio Valley Wrestling want to come to a Ring Of Honor event? What will happen when the old school philosophy of Jim Cornette meets the futuristic ROH style? Be there 8/9 and find out.

ROH will never become a WWE farm fed.

A) Feinstein. WWE. Videos. Copyrights.

B) ROH's guys don't work that precious "WWE" style of going slower then shit and making fat fucks look good.

C) At best, it's probably something involving OVW guys working with ROH guys.

Well, considering OVW is the most (new word, people) pissantly booked promotion ever, this can only be bad

Nick Dinsmore would do well though

He'll probably have Feinstein & Gabe tell the guys to start using hiptosses, armdrags, and hammerlocks as finishers. After all, OVW is the home of the lamest finishers of all-time.

Rob's all about the money...he'd burn his mother's house down and piss on the ashes for the right amount. he'll get in good with Vince if he gets the chance.

Alhough him bootlegging WWF and WCW footage all these years might be a sore spot.

Am I the only one who likes OVW?

And maybe it means some ROH guys are getting devlpomental contracts.

I've enjoyed the OVW footage that I've seen as well. Count me in as another OVW fan

Havent most of the RoH guys already been turned down from the WWE? I know Low-Ki and Daniels both have.

I love OVW too. It's a great promotion, and is actually the best booked promotion in North America. I think people just attack it because it's got an image of being behind the times, and it's seen as a hick promotion.

More like Corny and Davis have trained these guys to put on the most boring matches possible, and put the cheesiest of the old Southern storylines behind them.

GRRREAAAAT, another Indy promotion's going to be bastardized(TNA was first by Russo's and the Jarretts' bad ideas).

Shame on the OVW guys for not busting out a million flips and dives, or going through tables. Shame on them for actually wrestling. The storylines are actually very good, and make sense. Maybe if they added lesbianism, sex and mindless skits to their tv program you may like them, but Cornette actually wants credibility and some sense of realism in OVW.

You stereotype ROH for being just "a million flips and dives or going through tables", yet you seem to have overlooked the American Dragons, Chris Daniels', Low Kis, Paul Londons, etc. of the promotion, because I don't know how they're going to be able to put on good matches under either Cornette's "Southern style-rasslin'" or the WWE-style, if ROH does become another farm fed for WWE.

Another thing: OVW pushed BATISTA/Leviathan heavily for crying out loud.

Could you point out where I mentioned RoH in my post ?

Dude, so what if the finishers aren't stiff ass neck breaking moves. Dinsmore has built up his German Suplex as death.

I've just gotten into RoH. I don't want RoH to have to be toned down to fit the bastardization of professional wrestling known as "WWE Style."

And NoSelfWorth, if you're trying to attack Styles_Clash's credibility as a wrestling fan, you're not getting anywhere, and just making yourself seem foolish.

Hell no, son. From what I've seen of OVW, they've taken some good stuff from the old territory days, but mostly the lamest of the good storylines from the older days, and made their guys work complete 70's style, with no modernization at all. Watch Wildside if you want to see really good old-style storylines (though I wouldn't classify the promotion as "old-style" since they do put an effort in making the stuff seem modern.

I'm a fan of simplicity. Hell, that's one of the reasons why I'm such a huge Chris Hero mark. But the difference between an OVW guy and someone like a Chris Hero or an Ace Steel is that OVW guys don't incorperate new stuff that not only looks credible, but looks new and modern into their matches. Hero takes one of the most basic moves in the business, a cravate, and has modernized that thing to the point where the regular version seems new and fresh too. Meanwhile, in OVW, Nick Dinsmore uses a hammerlock. Wow.

And, by the way, I am a fan of a few of the OVW guys, albeit less than before WWE started pulling guys out left and right to put them on TV. Doug Basham's actually a hell of a worker, and very deserving of being under contract and on TV. However, I am going against the mold and saying that I'm not fond of Rob Conway and Nick Dinsmore usually. They just work a really lame style that guys like Chris Benoit, Ace Steel, and Tony Mamaluke have taken a thousand times farther than they do.

So they last time when I went to see ROH live, and I saw Dragon Vs London in a classic, that was bad wrestling right?

Once again, I ask where I said anything about RoH in my post.

Well, this thread was originally supposed to be about Jim Cornette being at ROH on August 9th, and someone talked about the fear of the promotion becoming WWE's new farm league in which their style and way of booking would have to change to OVW's and thus turn the promotion into shit, but I guess you were referring to WWE(Jeff Hardy's crazy shit, TLC matches, etc.), right?

I'd be happy with just a promo from Cornette on the show.

OVW is a great little fed and has been for a quite a while now. The slow burn old school booking and the wrestling style which is based around short tv matches with few high spots. Well I guess it ain't for every wrestling fan but for some older fans of Southern wrestling like myself see it as an oasis in the middle of alot of shite which is the US wrestling scene at the minute.

I would say the shows have top nocth booking most of the time too. Cornette books feuds and storylines that make sense and bring the best out of their green wrestlers. The promo's mostly written by Cornette and the commentery are unmatched in the indies as well.

A short term feud between the feds would be good business and theres defently guys in OVW who can match the workrate of ROH's best. Can't see it working long term though or even ROH guys turning up on OVW TV for some reason.

To be honest I think you people are reading way to much into this, I'd imagine Jimmy will go out there put over ROH, share some good old school stories and get a round of applause and that will be it.

Just wait and see what happens before getting to excited or angry.

Think about it though: Cornette is in charge of the OVW promotion(I think), he wouldn't leave them just to go manage in ROH, now would he? And the preview for the event said he "wanted to do something in ROH" and "what will happen when Jim Cornette's old-school style meets ROH's futuristic style?" So that proves that WWE might just sabotage ROH by having them wrestle the OVW style if ROH becomes a farm league to WWE.

I love OVW too. It's a great promotion, and is actually the best booked promotion in North America.

sorry dude, ROH got that one covered.....
