Guest RedJed Report post Posted May 25, 2003 In the new Observer its reported that as of two weeks ago, the plan of action was to have the Jarrett-Raven rematch scheduled for the 5/28 show, which is this coming Weds. Seeing as how there was a small amount (and I mean VERY small) of interaction between the two last week, I'm not sure if this will happen or not. Its possible though since Raven made a point of calling Jarrett out numerous times and if both of them are at the show Weds, we could see the match happening from maybe an angle to start the show setting up the match. I'd be surprised if this happened at this point though since you would think they would want to build up this match much more to get a decent buyrate. Or maybe they figure the diehards who get the show every week regardless deserve the main event to be hotshotted out of nowhere, who knows. Thoughts?
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted May 25, 2003 Hot shot it. HOT SHOT IT. I never thought I'd say it...but do it anyway. It's against everything I believe in about this business...but do it and put Raven over. I don't know if they could build up that big an audience for a rematch since people are SICK of JJ so much at this point. Hot shot the match, put the strap on Raven and build towards something else. Oh wait...Raven wouldn't win because they're still hyping JJ vs. Gilberti. OK...I don't know. I watch anyway and I'd be happy to see it.
Guest HollywoodSpikeJenkins Report post Posted May 25, 2003 BIG Mistake. If they want the Raven/Jarrett match again, they need to build it up again. Not like it will have the same meaning as their last match.
Guest sean pyro Report post Posted May 25, 2003 eh, i'd like them next week to announce that on the anniversary show it will be a 3-way match with jeff, still disco and raven for the title. thats plendy of time to build/hype it up. /not like thats ever going to happen

JJ and Gilberti could still be worked as a match NOT for the title (which I would prefer anyway) and just a match for "control" of the company more, or whatever goofed storyline they could come up with. Just a battle of two guys who believe in different philosophies of the business is good enough, maybe the winner decides who to make TNA commisioner or something? Good point about people sick of JJ and as documented here, not alot believe Raven will get the belt anyway in a rematch so a hyped up rematch may blow up in their face possibly. PLUS you hotshot a title change out of left field (and a title change that makes sense anyway) and you might have casuals who will be pissed they missed it and will possibly tune in more just in case they pull stuff like that again. The more I think about it, the more I think this might happen. Jarrett will almost assuredly have to be there, and Raven will too. And they definately have plans for a rematch after the angles cut this past week.

Then why build it up so much again if people are convinced it wont be the same?
Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted May 25, 2003 This pleases me. I say either have Raven win via Discoference, intentional or otherwise. Then you've got fuel for the JJ/Gilberti feud. Or, have Raven win, & since the stip says Gilberti is #1 Contender, have a SEX innerstable feud, with Jarrett getting involved, leading to a 3 way at the Anniversary show (i still say 4 way with Styles, but that's just me). That works for me.......the weeks leading up to the big show could be huge too with a Glen v. Jarrett singles just for the hell of it and whatever else, maybe a Styles v. Raven match as well. Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2003 What? Why not do Raven vs. Red? Raven vs. Jarrett II doesn't make that much sense right about now.
Guest RedJed Report post Posted May 25, 2003 What? Why not do Raven vs. Red? Raven vs. Jarrett II doesn't make that much sense right about now. Red is taking off to All Japan, actually is there right now I believe. Will be gone at least a month. I would say it makes little sense a week ago but since they cut some stuff with them on last Weds it makes a lil sense.

Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted May 25, 2003 They should have just let Raven's Evenflow explain why Red is gone and then have him come back with sound and fury and feud with (Hopefully) NWA World Champ Raven. Raven vs. Red could be awesome if they can get over the styles clash.

But thats the only thing that could make ANY sense if Red is gone for a month after laying out Raven infront of a crazy crowd :/

Way to go, Russo, Jarrett, you sure fucked up here.

Guest acnx Report post Posted May 25, 2003 Go for it. I think they should try and build up to a Raven/Jarrett rematch, but honestly, Jarrett is incredibly boring as champion. It's stale, lame, etc. Get the belt off of him. You might not get the buys you would get for a big rematch, but once people find out Raven is champ, they will start buying. And if they can actually do something with Raven as champ, people will tune in every week. That would require smart booking though, and if last week is any indication of what's to come... You've also got a whole lot more challengers for Raven to work with than for Jarrett. Hell...you could have Red vs Raven...the crowd would eat it up. Styles, Killings, Disco, Jarrett again, DLO, Lynn...maybe you build up Daniels as a singles star. What's there to lose?
