There is a similar thread up on Kayfabe Memories but I thought I'd start one up here to see what kind of experiences you guys have had at them.

 

I've never been to one myself, the closest I came was when the WWF did a Superstars taping at the Capital Centre on 9/2/92 - just a few days after Summer Slam and one day after Flair regained the title from Savage. I don't even remember seeing ads for the show on TV, although I'm sure they plugged it in the Event Center every chance they got. I had no idea how close the Cap Centre was to my house - or how cheap tickets were at the time - otherwise I might have begged my parents to take me. I had just turned 11 at that point.

 

Didn't go to my first house show (or wrestling event altogether) until May of the following year.

 

I'll leave this open to any fed. Do you recall any dark matches?

I went to a USWA Taping in 1993. They used to do a Saturday morning show on WMC 5. I don't remember much but I did yell at Brian Christopher

I've been to at least 15 TV Tapings, WWE comes to CT alot. The only dark matches that stick in my head are a Danny Doring match in Nov, a Mike Awesome vs Slyk Wagner Brown match, a Charlie Haas vs someone match, and in 1998 a Paul Roma match. I was dumbfounded as Roma wrestled since I hadn't seen him in years.

That reminds me, I was at a WCW Saturday Night TV Taping as well, in December/January of Late 96/early 97. I don't recall too many matches... Super Calo wrestled 4 times I think (And the crowd groaned by the 4th time) I think he fought Jericho. Harlem Heat fought the Nasty Boys TWICE! Masa Chono fought.... Luger vs La Parka was the Main Event... Props if anyone can find me those results in full....!!!

Match 1- Rey Mysterio vs. A-Train

Rey starts his attack on the outside with a kick to A-train’s face, then we move into the ring where A-train takes control. A-Train hits the derailleur for a 2 count. Train keeps control with a big full nelson. Rey counters the move and goes to Trains back and beats him to the mat for a 2 count. Rey goes for the finisher and catches a bicycle kick to the face. A-train gets the train wreck, (back breaker) on Rey and the match is over.

 

Winner: A-Train

 

 

Segment 2 Heyman says there will be no match between the Undertaker and The Big Show. Paul says he has given the Big Show the night off.

Match 2- Eddie Guerrero vs. John Cena

Eddie beats Cena to the corner with fists. Cena gets covered for a two count. Eddie keeps his attack up, until tossed out by Cena. Redd dogg throws Eddie into the post and rolls him back in where Cena takes control. Cena suplexes Eddie and goes for the cover. Eddie kicks out. Cena hits a sidewalk slam on Eddie and goes for another cover and another 2 count. They both lock up in the middle of the ring for a few minutes until Eddie takes control. Cena goes to the top rope and is knocked off it by Chavo. Eddie goes to the top and hits the big 5 star frog splash for the win.

 

Winner: Eddie Guerrero

Stephanie is shown talking on the phone and Vince interrupts. He asks her what the hell she was thinking bringing back Hulk Hogan. Steph says that she thought he’d be proud of her for bringing back Hogan. Vince says he has a big surprise this week.

Match 3- Billy Kidman vs. Shannon Moore

Shannon starts off with control. They go to the outside where Kidman is driven into the side of the ring. Moore Goes for the pin and gets a 2 count. Moore keeps control with a chin lock. Moore hits Kidman with a few elbows to the kidneys and gets another 2 count. Kidman mounts a comeback and hits a big dropkick to Moore’s face. Kidman gets a 2 count. Moore gets a neck breaker and goes to hit a top rope superplex. Kidman fights him off. Kidman hits the shooting star and wins. Matt Hardy hits 2 Twists of fate on Kidman after the match.

 

Winner: Billy Kidman

Segment:

Vince comes down to the ring, and announces that Hogan will take on the Rock at No Way Out. The Rock responds via satellite. Rock says the people want to see the match. Rock says that he is the biggest star that wrestling has ever seen. Rock guarantees that Hogan is going to lose.

Match 4- Rikishi vs. Bill DeMott

They both lock up, Rikishi takes control with a few right hands. Bill hit Rikishi with a big clothesline. Bill hits a few punches and gets Rikishi to the mat with a head BUTT. Rikishi gets Bill in a Samoan drop. DeMott counters back with a big block and gets a three count via the ropes.

 

Winner: Bill DeMott

 

 

Segment:

Undertaker comes to the ring and calls out the Big Show. Taker waits down at the ring until Paul Heyman comes out and says Show has sent Taker a personal message. He sends a singing telegram. The singer of the telegram gets a tip and the last ride from The Undertaker.

Match 5- Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin vs. Edge and Chris Benoit

Benoit takes control on Haas with some big slaps and punches. Shelton comes in and quickly goes for 2 quick covers. Edge is tagged in and cleans house. Angle gets involved and gets speared. Benoit goes flying over the top ropes and nails Shelton on the outside. Edge climbs to the top rope and hit Shelton with a missile drop kick. Back from the commercial Edge has Benjamin in an arm lock. Haas gets tagged in and quickly covered by Edge for a 2 count. Benoit comes in and gets a nice bridge pin on Haas. Edge tagged back in and gets Haas in another arm lock. Haas keeps getting beat on by the quick tagging Edge and Benoit. Haas finally counters with a suplex on Edge. Shelton comes in and works on the leg of Edge. Haas tagged in and continues the assault on Edge’s leg. Shelton comes back in and the leg locks continue. The figure four is applied to Edge, Benoit comes in for a save. Edge reverses the figure four, and finally makes a tag to Benoit. Benoit throws in a few Snap suplexes and clears the ring again. Haas and Benjamin try the double team, but it back fires. Three German suplexes, then here comes the flying head BUTT from the top rope. Angle hit Benoit to the back of the head with the belt. Benoit gets covered for the 3 count match over.

 

Winner: Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin

I don't recall WWF doing any TV shows or tapings in Philly prior to 98...since I started watching anyway (91). I've been to two Smackdown tapings, one in April 2000 (HHH Vs Tazz and Jericho Vs Rock in a damn lumberjack match) and the other in April 2001 (where Jeff Hardy beat HHH for the I-C Title).

I believe it was 2 or 3 weeks later, I went to RAW in Atlantic City. From what I remember, LOD def. Bulldog & Owen via DQ (I think), Flash Funk def. Brian Christopher. The main event, however, was great. Undertaker & Mankind vs. Shawn Michaels & HHH. The debut of the soon-to-be DX! That's when HBK busted open Undertaker with two chairshots, leading to Ground Zero.

 

Most recently, I went to a Smackdown taping on July 9, 2002, also from Atlantic City. Me, my brother, and friend went. My brother, the mark that he is, brought a "Hulk Still Rules" sign. Out seats were right on the aisle. The first match was Hogan & Edge vs. Billy & Chuck. So, when Hogan comes out, he grabs my brother's sign and holds it up. Nice little experience, there. My sign said, "Smackdown Needs Steve Blackman," and the only reaction it garnered, other than from the people around me, was from Test, who seemed to give me a dirty look... but it might have just been his normal heel look. Anyway, the results were Tajiri def. Shannon Moore, Val Venis def. Test, Billy Kidman def. Chavo Guerrero, Hogan & Edge def. Billy & Chuck, Molly Holly def. Torrie Wilson, D-Von & Batista def. Randy Orton & Mark Henry, The Rock returns and brings Busta Rhymes in the ring. Kurt Angle interrupts and runs down Rock and gets the line of the night toward Busta, who's back in the front row: "And if Puff Daddy wants a piece of me, than he can too!" After that, Rikishi def. I don't have any info from Watertown but could this have been the same Raw taping?

That's the one! I meant to say Alex Bay (you drive through Watertown to get to it). I got my Bret Hart wristbands from that show and watched my hero (at the time) lose to Yokozuna in a title match (Fuji hit him with the salt bucket). I JUST missed shaking his hand at the end; he turned away just as I got there. Oh well, I still have the photos....

 

I forgot about the Nitro I went to also in Vegas on 6/30/97. Raven was in the crowd, Sting dropped from the rafters, and that's about all I can remember.

It was the SmackDown/HeAT tapings which took place on February 15th 2000. The SmackDown show aired two nights later, on February 17th 2000 (which was the day of my 17th birthday)

I attended the September 26, 1995 WWF Superstars taping that came to Valparaiso university and damn, six hours of jobber matches was just too intense for me. I still remember the dark matches as follows:

 

Goldust def. Savio Vega (Dust hadn't debuted on tv yet and I was surprised to see him there)

 

Undertaker def. Kama (the feud of that summer that just wouldn't DIE)

 

Shawn Michaels def. Dean Douglas (nowadays a match that would've been interesting)

 

and after 6 HOURS of jobber matches....
