Bored 0 Report post Posted May 28, 2003 Dark Matches Ultimo Dragon beat Crash Holly by tapout - My friend and I were calling for Ultimo and marked out like little kids when he showed up. Ultimo has an entrance video (and will be getting hype videos) very similar to Rey Mysterio's with the mask and smoke. Anyway, this match was pretty good and Ultimo looked like he would fit right in with the cruiserweight style. No real high spots for Ultimo as he worked the leg Mexican style and eventually won with an inverted nagata lock (no dragon sleeper!) Kanyon and a jobber beat David Flair and a jobber by pinfall - I wasn't able to catch the names of the two guys with Kanyon and Flair but neither one did much to impress. Kanyon was the star of the match as he looked good and got in plenty of his innovative offense. The finish saw Flair and the heel jobber battling it out on the outside and Kanyon hitting the flatliner on the other jobber for the pinfall. I can't wait to see Kanyon back on the active roster. Orlando Jordan beat Jamie Noble by pinfall - Jordan didn't get an entrance or anything, he just walked out. Noble came out minus Nidia and got booed pretty hard. Pretty basic match with Noble working over the leg. Finish saw Noble going for the trailor hitch but having Jordan counter it with a rollup for the surprise pinfall! Velocity - Josh and Cat come down to start the show. Bill DeMott beat Shannon Moore/w Crash by pinfall - This match was confusing. Moore clearly played the heel but before the match, DeMott told this horrible joke and was booed out of the building. Anyway this was your typical Bill DeMott match and he scored the pin when Crash came off the top rope and hit Shannon by mistake. A-Train beat Joey Matthews (from Pensacola) by pinfall - Joey got a pretty nice pop seeing as he is a hometown boy. This was basically a squash with Joey only getting in some hope spots and eventually getting hit with 2 bicycle kicks and the Derailer. JOHN CENA RAP: Cena then came out and talked about how he was on the green screen of Velocity this week. Cena said his johnson was longer then a 56 game hitting streak. Eventually Cena got the entire crowd to say "shit" at the end of his rap. Great stuff from a guy who is slowly getting way over with his gimmick. Main event: Matt Hardy defeated Funaki by pinfall - If you aren't busy you should tune into the last 20 minutes of Velocity. The Cena rap is good enough for most people but this match was quality cruiseweight action. Ran about 6 or 7 minutes and saw Matt retain his title after hitting TWO Twists of Fate. Crowd really got into Funaki towards the end when he looks like he might steal the victory. Edit: Woah who'd Noble piss off to have to job to a jobber in a dark match? And where’s the Albert / Rhyno rematch to continue the feud that has set the world on fire? Just a thought, but is DeMott slowly going back to his Hugh Morris character?
