Guest tank_abbott Report post Posted May 31, 2003 Many WWE developmental wrestlers will be working WWE house shows this weekend. The Basham Brothers (who debuted on Smackdown this week) will be working, as will Jackie Gayda (as a manager for Rico), Lance Cade, Mark Jindrak, and Orlando Jordan. HBO's Real Sports is working on a story about the death rate in professional wrestling. It's in the early stages right now, but it's a story that could have some implications on WWE's business when it airs. The wrestling industry likely won't be portrayed well in this story, but it will likely open up some eyes which may be the best thing that could happen for a lot of people. Billy Gunn, who had a very serious shoulder injurt that threatened his career, should be back on Smackdown soon. Gunn is scheduled to work some house shows in early June against Sean O'Haire, indicating he might be returning as a mid to top level face. Right now, WWE is likely to bring Kurt Angle back as a face. The company has been debating whether to bring him back as a heel or face. - WWE is fully aware of the special that HBO is working on about the deaths in pro-wrestling and is planning some sort of response to it. Guest BANKYWOOD Report post Posted May 31, 2003 I would love to see Gunn vs. OHaire, that could be one of the worst matches of all time. Ehh, both are pretty bad, but a match between them isn't even close to the worst match the WWE could put together with their roster. O'Haire/Gunn is almost a treat compared to some of the RAW match-ups.

A wrestler called HBOB that doesn't understand things... Yeah, that's along the lines of what I was thinking. Probably JR will say something on the air like, "Well, King, if HBO thinks we have problems, maybe they should look into the NFL or the NBA. But I guess THAT would make some people angry." You know, the usual "everyone is against us" idea they had with the XFL.

Guest Anglesault Report post Posted May 31, 2003 Why don't we look at Kurt's feuds or the last year HHH: Used only to prove that HHH can beat Angle at will. Kane: I'm still not sure why. Edge/Hogan: Used to make Angle look like a bumbling fool. Rey: I have no idea. Didn't help Angle, certainly didn't help Rey. Benoit (Fall): Used to make Angle and (Benoit) look like a bumbling fool. Brock: Used to make Angle look like a bumbling fool. Some real winners there.

I'm all for HBOB if he uses that cool Feature Presentation disco-esque song from the 80s and 90s that they always played before a movie or show on HBO. Kane: Ditto Edge/Hogan: I might give you credit on the Edge side of things but he went over Hogan clean. Rey: They wanted to give Rey a high profile feud soon after his debut what's wrong with that? Benot: Actually Kurt came off as a badass after this feud Brock: Brock did get the upper hand too often early in the feud but he made Brock look foolish as well. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted May 31, 2003 Given the WWE's video on Angle this week, they seem to want to bring him back seriously. Given the past 3 years, you should take that with a grain of salt. Anywho, the WWE will just say "we HELP our wrestlers" and talk about all the drug treatments and stuff like that offered to wrestlers, and completely ignore the reasons as to why they need the drug treatment. I can see WWE doing this on Confidential. They'll recap the HBO story, present the evidence...and then spin it so that it doesn't look as bad as HBO made it look and that they'll talk about how they're handling the problem. This could also bring out yet another incident of Vince McMahon shifting into Mr. McMahon character in an interview and making himself look like a jackass like the Costas interview. Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 1, 2003 What is there response going to be? HBO: Many wrestler deaths are caused by addiction to pain medication, and the rampant use of steroids leads to a serious decrease in quality of life. Guest The Decadent Slacker Report post Posted June 1, 2003 Jackie returns! I hope she can at least cut a reasonable promo. Fuck the ring work, no one cares about her as a wrestler anyway. & while i think of it, what's going on with the last TE guys? O'Haire/Gunn? I actually want to see that, because no matter how bad it is, it will still be better than people think. That, or i'll laugh at Gunn being hideous & laugh at O'Haire being the most hyped midcard bitch since Gunn himself back in the day. I just find emotional damage to others funny. HBO death special, huh? eh, whatever. Just putting the wheels in motion for the WWF patented "free speech for us, anything else is slander" movement. Get ready for JR going crazy, Cole saying "Damn!" & a weepy Hart family interview. As for Angle, as long as he puts on quality matches, i don't care. He can talk, he can wrestle, he'll always be over in some capacity-who cares as long as he's on TV? Besides no matter what they do to make him look bad, he'll be better than the smiling Brock, imo. Guest INXS Report post Posted June 1, 2003 Stolen from 411mania which was originally stolen from the torch. Kurt Angle Speaks On WWE Return Makes it known that he wants to be a face... Kurt Angle was interviewed on Sportsnet News in Canada yesterday. Below are the highlights: - Described his neck injury, surgery, and rehab. - Claimed that he has been working in pain for years, but that he never told Vince McMahon. - Said his goal is to return and do a program as a babyface. - Once again stated that he wants to be known as the greatest wrestler of all time. - In regard to coming back part time, he said that WWE has too many part timers as it is in Kevin Nash, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, the Undertaker, etc. Credit: PWTorch.com

Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 1, 2003 HHH: Um they didn't feud over the last year unless you have a different interpretation of what "over the last year" means. Kane: Ditto Last year (2002) HHH returned to feud with Angle (Royal Rumble, No Way Out) over the number-one contendership. If you recall, Angle interrupted HHH's return speech. Angle and Kane had a short feud leading to a meaningless match at 'Mania. I think AS meant Angle's feuds throughout 2002, since he covered every one in his post.
