Also, Savage had the belt during his famous (and awesome) match with Ricky Steamboat. The Intercontinental Title really elevated Savage. I mean, look at the before and after results: WM2: Against George Steele in a bad, heatless match. WM3: Against Ricky Steamboat for title in ***** classic. WM4: Wins Heavyweight title in main event. In other words, the Intrcontinantal title was Randy's step between low-mid carder to main event champion. Where as Benoit still is a mid carder.
