Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 3, 2003 It's still Nashes fault. 1)Hurricane is not going to kick out of the Pedigree. 2)Orton isn't going to pick him up at 2. 3)Hebner isn't going to stop counting (oh, wait, he did) Ortons body was in CLASSIC "pull out" position with Nash being the closest one to him. After the match Nash looked the most bothered by the finish with Shawn being "oh well" and hurricane being "what the fuck".
LooseCannon25 0 Report post Posted June 3, 2003 According to PWTorch... Sources say the finish of Raw's main event tonight was supposed to be Hurricane getting pinned at the time the match ended. It was just a case of veteran official Earl Hebner forgetting for a brief moment that that was supposed to be the finish. He was expecting a kick out, and when it didn't come, he did the ol' stop the count and indicate that the shoulder was off the mat routine. Then he realized that was actually supposed to be a three count and got up and called for the bell. WWE officials were disappointed that it happened, but forgiving for the human error on Hebner's part. -------------------------------------------------------- I think 411 just worded it wrong. If thats true...then Hebner is an even bigger asshole for forgetting the finish of the match, when its basically his ONLY job to do, and the fault is all on him now. Guest Vyce Report post Posted June 3, 2003 What's the lesson in this story? Regardless of what the finish was supposed to be, Hurricane got screwed. If he was supposed to get the pinfall, he got screwed out of it. If he was supposed to be the job boy - he was supposed to be the job boy, because GOD FORBID one of the other two Clique bastards lay down and count the lights. Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 3, 2003 And the sad thing is this - in-ring - hurricane was more over than any of those guys.
Guest Goodear Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Nah, just the two that are going to be main eventing the pay-per-view and the other "spunky newcomer" (who leaned like a man into that high crossbody). But he's got three out of five beaten pretty easily.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Dude, when Hurricane was in the ring he got the biggest response - fan's actually came alive. They 'woo'd' for Flair, but that's it. Michaels feather-like offense didn't do anything for them either. Is he more over than Flair or Michaels? No. Was he more over *in the ring* than Flair or Michaels in that match? Yes. Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 3, 2003 The greatest part of the ME was the silence that accompanied Nash cleaning house and pounding on all 3 heels. The crowd only popped for the powerbomb. It's sad because that could be the next fake world champion.
Guest JMA Report post Posted June 3, 2003 The Pedigree is a REALLY stupid finisher name, now that I think about it. Maybe it was all right for the Blueblood character, but... Hunter is a McMahon now. The name fits.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Screw the finish to the main event...the best part of RAW was the fans chanting for RVD...even though it was Kane who was wrestling. I love it! Raw is coming to Buffalo on June 30...and although I'm not going (I can somehow pass on the Goldberg/HHH build up...not to mention they won't know what to do since the next ppv for them will be 7 weeks away still) RVD will be the most over person on the card. I hope they don't make him manage that night. Then again...they know he'll be mega-superstar-over...so he probably will.
Guest MrHell Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Am I the only one who finds it somehow fitting that we've talked about former WCW refs being the best in the company? Does this mean Judy Bagwell is the next person to be signed?
Guest Goodear Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Best on Raw =/= the best in the company. The Smackdown referees are great in that you hardly ever notice them. I can't stand Nick Patrick or Earl Hebner and they always annoy me to watch. The other guys don't do a think to attract attention and that is as it should be. Best referee ever = Tommy Young BTW
Guest oldschoolwrestling Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Best referee ever = Tommy Young BTW I used to love when he did Flair matches. Flair would hold the ropes and when he'd catch him he'd kick Flair's arms off the ropes and the babyface would get a close 2 count. Flair would get mad and push Young, who would push Flair back. Flair of course would sell it and fall over. Many refs repeated that spot throughout the years, but Yound did it best.
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 3, 2003 No other ref can compare to Dangerous Danny Davis.
Guest Redhawk Report post Posted June 3, 2003 As far as the "Pedigree" name goes, I highly doubt that most marks even know what the real definition of the word is. They know "pedigree" as either HHH's finisher or a brand of dog food. And I think it's funny how Earl never forgets the finish when it involves Triple H getting the pin. I do sort of remember one match where HHH was supposed to kick out of someone's move but Hebner didn't count. Or maybe it was the other way around.
Guest snuffbox Report post Posted June 3, 2003 Best referee ever = Tommy Young BTW Ill second that... wasnt he also involved in the Johnny Weaver-JJ Dillon/Matsuda angle in the NWA around 1987? I cant remember for sure.
Guest The Tino Standard Report post Posted June 3, 2003 I kinda liked Teddy Long as a ref. He patented the "Teddy Long Two-Count," where he'd count two, then have the arm coming down for three- kick out- and he'd stop and just hold it there about 3 inches off the mat for 2 seconds and then show a 2-count to the wrestlers. I know that is a horribly generic description, but if you've seen it you know what I'm talking about. It became a running gag for us watching PPVs at home.
