Guest Thunder Rising!!! Report post Posted June 6, 2003 Well he did start getting boring after he changed to the WWE style but looking at his matches in ECW, it wasn't really that bad. In ECW, he and Sabu would go blowing spots after spots because thats how their matches are like SPOTS. In the WWE he does less, he bores the fuck outta me sometimes but at least he is not screwing up in the ring, but I guess thats because he does have really have the chance to. Seriously how many actually gives a damn about RVD nowadays? He is so buried where he is now like Kid Kabalm says just because he crushed HHH's larynx. Poor guy... Vince: RVD is going to the next contender for your title. HHH: But he nearly killed me in the Elimination Chamber!!! He is too sloppy, he is a hazard in the ring!!! You have to stop his push before he kills one of our main eventers and most importantly me!!! I am the one who carry Raw and without me the ratings will fall!!! Vince: Ermmm... ok ok... then let it be... RVD will now learn to work again in the lower cards... HHmmm... How about tagging with Kane? How about that? HHH: Thanks daddy!!! Great wrestler, but I don't think he'd be able to hold the attention for long - even with you guys. No, Billy Kidman is plain. But benoit has one of the best personalities I've seen in WWE (except when he was laughing at Angle during the stink face, that just sucked). He has a whole Clint Eastwood/Man With No Name thing going, and it works. True, the marks might not get it, just cause he isn't shouting catchphrases left and right, but right now, the sports entertainment stuff isn't drawing in droves of fans, so I think it's about time we had a "pure" champion. Again, I'm saying that right now, Benoit should be the champ because it would add stability to a very messy world. We could give him a nice long heel run with the belt, and while it wouldn't "draw" in the traditional sense, can you name a champio who WOULD draw right now. Wrestling is too much of a mess to present a decent face to the public, and anyone who thinks that the boom is just around the corner needs to wake up and smell the rotting flesh. The last two attempts at publicity have just caused the media to turn a cold shoulder. Right now, wrestling needs a Bret Hart or a Shawn Michaels to carry it through the rough times, and I believe Benoit is that man. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Again, my concern has less to do with big time drawing, and more to do with restoring credibility. I mean, the boom couldn't have happened without the Austin vs Bret Series, and I could definitely see Jericho vs Benoit as providing a similar feud. true, Benoit is not the face waiting to turn heel that Bret was, and Jericho is not the heel with the cult following about to turn face that Austin was, but the match quality would be top notch, and go a long way into restoring the dignity of this much maligned psuedo sport. Benoit and Jericho always put on exciting/smart matches, and right now the outside audience needs to see that wrestling is no longer big guys pretending to punch each other. All I'm saying is I don't think that the Jericho/Benoit feud could be quite as good as the Austin/Bret feud, although I find that I like Benoit and Jericho a bit more than Brett and Austin, but my opinion is in the minority.
