Guest Black Tiger Report post Posted June 5, 2003 How the hell did Halloween 5 wind up on American Movie Classics? It's not enough that it's the fifth part, it came out in 1989! For some weird reason, the fifth part in all horror/slasher series sucks, and the same goes for any horror/slasher released in 1989. (Jason Takes Manhatten, Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child) It's almost like an exact Science
Guest newblood03 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 I dont see anything wrong with that picture at all....except for the fact the movie sux ass
Guest Marshall Report post Posted June 5, 2003 It's an ok movie really. It has a nice dynamic to it, in that the Little girl might be a killer like Micheal was when he was a kid in the first film. Thats an intresting way to take it. From what I remember, Micheal takes off his mask which is cool.
Guest WrestlingDeacon Report post Posted June 5, 2003 They played all the Halloween movies (except the first one) at Halloween. They have the rights to the series and AMC is trying to branch out from being an 'old movie' channel.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted June 5, 2003 that's nothing. i've seen them play 'chain reaction' on amc. they've turned into whores with no credibility whatsoever. they even have commercials now. fuck 'em, we've still got tcm.
Guest Edwin MacPhisto Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Even better was the brief ad campaign for Chain Reaction, where they tried to make it look hip and have people earnestly talking about how much they enjoyed it. I mean, it doesn't even have the super-intelligent dolphin and Ice-T factor that worked for Johnny Mnemonic. Come on, AMC. You're letting me down.
Guest IDrinkRatsMilk Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Jason Takes Manhattan is pretty good, really. Part 5 of that series does suck however, and so does Halloween 5.
Guest Harry Hood Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Yeh but when they were playing Halloween 4 this weekend it was great...woof.
Guest Mindless_Aggression Report post Posted June 5, 2003 I actually think Halloween 4 and 5 are better than the last 2 trainwrecks they did with the series. It's not a horrible story arch at all really. Although yeah, AMC probably shouldn't be playing them, considering the type of movies they're supposed to specialize in. Ah well. Guest Mole Report post Posted June 5, 2003 that's nothing. i've seen them play 'chain reaction' on amc. Yeah, I was pissed when I saw this movie playing.
Guest Mattdotcom Report post Posted June 5, 2003 (edited) Jason Takes Manhattan is part eight, not part five. But it came out in 89. Oops~! Edited June 5, 2003 by Mattdotcom

Guest NaturalBornThriller4:20 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Pfft. Fuck AMC. It's all about IFC. They have decent Movies on sometimes. Unedited, no commercials.
Guest Lethargic Report post Posted June 5, 2003 AMC is worthless now. They claim to support film preservation but yet they chop up movies to show commercials, plus they show TV versions now so a lot of them are edited and they hardly ever show widescreen. If this is what they had to do to compete with TCM they should've just quit. But all would be forgiven if they brought back Nick Clooney.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Last Saturday I thought the same thing when I saw Halloween 4 and 5 on AMC. American Movie CLASSICS?!?! BTW: What was the deal with part 6? It was supposed to put closure to the series, but I left watching it more confused than ever...
Guest Polish_Rifle Report post Posted June 5, 2003 They also showed They Live last week with Roddy Piper. I thought they only showed CLASSICS.
Guest Coffin Surfer Report post Posted June 5, 2003 Uh, AMC is no longer American Movie Classics, they are now the American Movie Channel(or something like that I think) while I still believe they show older movies from time to time, they are basically just another bad cable station with commercials now. And for the record, They Live is an American Movie Classic, at least in my book anyway.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 5, 2003 They also showed They Live last week with Roddy Piper. I thought they only showed CLASSICS. They Live is a classic motherfucker! :ahem: It sucks that AMC has become a regular commercial cable movie channel. However, I can't say I completely hate the channel now. I'm not denying that they play alot of shit now, but they also play alot of good cheesy movies that you don't see on TV very often. They still show older movies and now show modern "classics", so it's not all shitty movies. Also it's the only channel with a horror block every week(Friday). That being said, I can't defend them editing movies and adding more commercials.
JasonX 0 Report post Posted June 5, 2003 How the hell did Halloween 5 wind up on American Movie Classics? It's not enough that it's the fifth part, it came out in 1989! For last year's "Monsterfest" marathon, they bought the rights to the bulk of the Halloween film series. Mainly Halloween 2 (director's cut), 3, 4, 5. FX has the rights to Halloween 1 and H20 while Halloween: Curse of Michael Myers is floating out there in syndication with about half of the director's cut material retrofited into the movie.... Guest NoCalMike Report post Posted June 5, 2003 AMC has FEAR FRIDAY which is usually 3 horror movies and 2 episodes of Tales from the Crypt.....so at least on Friday's AMC has my attention.
Guest Ravenbomb Report post Posted June 5, 2003 same goes for any horror/slasher released in 1989 I dunno, I, Madman wasn't so bad
Guest TheZsaszHorsemen Report post Posted June 6, 2003 AMC has FEAR FRIDAY which is usually 3 horror movies and 2 episodes of Tales from the Crypt.....so at least on Friday's AMC has my attention. The great thing about TFTC is that it still hasn't lost anything. It's still just as awesome as the first time I saw it on HBO
Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 6, 2003 I haven't watched AMC since they took off EFX on Friday nights, but it's sad that they have commercials and stuff now. Between films is fine, but during them? Especially if they're going to play television edits...what's the point? Alas, I didn't get TCM back home, and I don't get it here at college either. Betty Houle 0 Report post Posted June 6, 2003 All the Hallowenn movies are good horror movies except the last one. Hell no! The first one is a great horror movie. 2 is OK. 3 is an interesting idea, horribly executed. 4 is pretty good! 5 is pretty bad! 6 is a complete mess. Not frightening or good in any way. 7 is OK. 8 is weak.
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Report post Posted June 6, 2003 Didn't know about the Classic/Channel switch. Thanks for the info. One thing I DID like about H4 was the final scene. Oh, and the ragin' rednecks. Gottal love rednecks...
Guest two_tuff_toddy Report post Posted June 6, 2003 "All the Hallowenn movies are good horror movies except the last one." The first 2 are really good but after that they pretty much go down hill. I did enjoy the 4th one and the last one but with the way the last one ended they are probably going to end up making a bunch more and I really don't want that to happen. It's by far the worst of the 3 main horror franchises IMO. "Jason Takes Manhattan is pretty good, really. Part 5 of that series does suck however, and so does Halloween 5." WHAT! Jason Takes Manhattan is a fucking horrible movie IMO. I don't know if that or Jason Goes To Hell is the worst of the series. Probably part 9 but it's really close. As far as Jason goes the first four are awesome movies, 5 sucks, 6 is tolerable, 7 is pretty good, 8 is horrible, 9 is horrible, and the X is pretty damn enjoyablle if not necessarily a good movie. All I know is I can't wait untill August when Jason vs Freddy comes out. The premise for the movie sounds cool as hell to me as Freddy invades Jason's dreams. I wander what kind of dreams he would have anyways? I bet they are pretty fucked up. If this is going to be the end of one of the characters for good I imagine Freddy will go since they are going to make more Jason movies but I would rather see Freddy beat Jason personally. "AMC has FEAR FRIDAY which is usually 3 horror movies and 2 episodes of Tales from the Crypt.....so at least on Friday's AMC has my attention." Really? I had no idea about that. I'm so going to have to start checking that out. I haven't seen TFTC in years. It's one of my all time favorite shows. Cryptkeeper=Master of the pun.
Guest godthedog Report post Posted June 6, 2003 and amc once again pisses me off by making it impossible for me to just hate them, cause they showed 'the third man' this morning. damn you for showing the great stuff with the crap, amc. damn you. why can't you be more like tnn and just show crap? Guest evenflowDDT Report post Posted June 7, 2003 damn you. why can't you be more like tnn and just show crap? Yech...can you imagine? "To celebrate 'The Duke' John Wayne, we're going to show several of his movies UNCUT (see long-lost scenes of The Duke chugging a Bud with the boys, brought to you by Snicker's Cruncher...reminding you of the importance of film preservation, where scenes such as these could've been lost forever!) with more newly restored footage of nerds dressed as gladiators on bucking broncos from our XTREME new show 'Pocket-Protector Polo'...hosted by acclaimed suer...erm...director Spike Lee (friggin' Viacom wouldn't spring for a lawyer)!"
