Because the lyrics are mostly about self-empowerment, getting drunk, or issues that you'd expect Jon Davis to piss and moan about. One of my jobs was to monitor fledgling DJs during their shifts to critique them, give them pointers, etc. Anyway, one of our less bright girls got a request for a Smiths song. So after the song, she starts her talk-up (a run-down of the songs she just played, in case you didn't know): "And that was the Smiths with "Cemetry Gates". And I don't know about you, but the singer sounds an awful lot like Morrissey." I switched her to the early early morning Sunday shift, so that no one would ever have to listen to her again. As far as interesting lyrics, I still stand by Mindless Self Indulgence. Completely retarded most of the time but they occasionally slip these big pieces of truth into their stuff and I like that. Thank God for instance. Oh and someone really should bring up Korn Kids experiences. (or KIDZZZ as they prefer) I really do hate to pigeonhole one whole group of people, but I think I've met roughly 2 intelligent people who like Korn and even they referenced the band as at best a guilty pleasure. For example... K Kid: You know why they kick ass? Because Jon Davis feels it. He feels every fuckin word of it. That is metal and it will always exist as long as him and his band are around. I tried to make him listen to Cradle Of Filth then. He would have none of that "gay ass british fag rock" or whatever he referenced it as. Tremendous. Hell I always thought that they may have be in some sort of fued and that those two songs were public displays of said feud. I wouldnt argue about it being true, as I have no clue if it was.
