Guest Renegade Posted June 9, 2003 Report Posted June 9, 2003 Bah I hate the fact that are never any fighting game tournaments of any sort anywhere near I live. As for the Shoryuken boards, there are so many idiots there it reminds me of the gamefaqs boards. Not to knock on you Pegasus Kid as there are many intelligent, helpful posters but a huge number of posters there are idiots. I sometimes lurk in the strategy forums but that’s about it. But please post results when they happen.

But please post results when they happen. You should really look into organizing tournaments in your local arcade. If it's anything like where I live, there are pockets of players that get to know each other because they've played each other so many times. I've come to be friends with a lot of the guys I once considered "rivals" because we played so much we just got used to each other and talked like normal buddies. As for SRK, I agree the forums can be rough but that can be said for any forums with a large amount of posters (TSM being an obvious example). I don't go into a lot of the forums because I don't need to deal with idiots but the strategy sections are great and then there's the division forums where you can talk to people that live in your area. I'm sure if you popped into the forums dedicated to your region, you'd find players that leave near your town. I'll be happy to post results after T4 is over.
Guest redbaron51 Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Soul Calibar 2 is probably the only good games i'm decent at, but i'll get smoked
Guest Pegasus Kid Posted June 10, 2003 Report Posted June 10, 2003 Marvel vs Capcom 2 and Soul Calibar 2 is probably the only good games i'm decent at, but i'll get smoked To be honest, tournaments of this size and nature aren't just about winning. I've been to a few majors in my day and it's more about meeting new players, learning new tricks, seeing some sick shit and going home having had a good time. If you win, that's obviously a great perk and with so many entrants and added money from the arcade itself, going home with hundreds of dollars is great. But like I said, you come for the experience, not the 100% chance of winning.
Guest KoR Fungus Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Yeah if you like fighting games and are near Ontario you should definitely go to this. Just the chance to play great players and learn from them makes these things worthwhile. You'll learn more in two days at a high level tournament then you will from months of playing scrubs. I'd like to go, but it's way too far away.
Guest Pegasus Kid Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 The official T4: Canadian Fighting Game Championships web site has been completed. You can check it out by Clicking Here
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted June 27, 2003 Report Posted June 27, 2003 HEY! Pacific Mall is about a block from where I live no lie. It's a well known unwritten rule that if you want to get the best service possible you bring a friend that can speak Chinese. They don't have to be Chinese, but they gotta speak it. Gives you the best prices, and no I'm not a racist or stereotyping against the Chinese, just this mall in particular. Come over here and check for yourself. If anyone needs to know anything about the place just send me a PM and I'll helpfully answer any questions that you might have. A copy of Giant Gram 2000 would hold me over to be sure.

I always bring one of my Chinese friends with me when I buy anything at Pacific Mall. Just Friday I was in there looking for a memory card for my digitcal camera. I went in alone and they told me $109. I sent in my buddy Eric five minutes later and all of a suddent the card is $95. SCAM THAT SHIT! I come back in with him and not in close to as good a mood and she says "oh sorry, I give you wrong price." BITCH! YPOV; you coming to T4?
Your Paragon of Virtue Posted July 1, 2003 Report Posted July 1, 2003 Nah, I'm not that big a fan of fighting games in the first place(Non-MMA ones, and there isn't a good one at that), and I'm not gonna be in town at the time, gone for a vacation. Regardless, if anyone who isn't familiar with the place has questions about the area, just PM me or something. Don't mind helping out.
Guest Coffey Posted July 12, 2003 Report Posted July 12, 2003 I won Indianapolis championships at Killer Instinct & Mortal Kombat 2. Too bad they quit doing them. I was looking forward to X-men Vs. Street Fighter competition. Since then, I've quit going to arcades. I started focusing on P.C. gaming. Counterstrike in particular. I think that was a bad game to focus on in the beginning however, because you winning and losing was out of your hands most of the time. If you had a teammate or two who had a bad day, you lost. I'm going to focus all of my time on Magic now. Yeah, a little bit of luck is involved, but it gives me a reason to travel. I qualified for PT New York last year in Team Trios...but I've yet to break though solo. I'm going to try to get on the tour.
Guest Coffey Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Goddamn, unsticky this fucking thread.
