Guest ShooterJay Report post Posted June 10, 2003 Got this from SoCalUncensored.com, which covers the Southern California indy scene, the forgotten treasure trove of indy wrestling. Who is Gary Yap you are asking? He is the owner of an indy wrestling company Epic Wrestling that lasted 3 and a half shows. Gary started running shows in L.A. laster year. He contacted Me along with Sabu. Gary asked if he could have me work shows with him while I was with XPW. I approached Kevin and Rob Black and they had a conflict of interest with it due to the fact that Gary was their across town rival. So, if I worked for one, I could not work for the other. I didn't mind cause I was gonna be leaving XPW anyway, so I quit XPW and went to work for him. Working for G was an experience I wish to forget because it is hard to work for a mark that has 0 knowledge of the business. He asked me to come out and work with his so-called "hardcore" clowns that had 0 knowledge of the business. I did, and the matches were the drizzling shits. I was supposed to get an airline ticket from Cleveland to L.A. to Atlanta, and the idiot booked me a round trip ticket from Cleveland to Cleveland. He said he would fix it and didn't. He then bounced checks to me, and booked shows and cancelled them last minute. He owed me money and NEVER made good on it. He owed me money and I told him he bounced the check to Rob Black. I told him I needed money to go to court with XPW, and it was only a work on Gary because I wanted my damned money. XPW didn't even know it was a work, well until now. Keven that worked in the office with XPW hard warned me that the guys wouldn't last three shows, and well, it lasted 3 and a half, it didn't matter, I was leaving anyway... Half you are asking? On his final day, he had all of the guys buy their own airline tickets to the show and when everybody got there, he was out in the parking lot trying to negotiate with the building people telling them that he would pay them from the gate, but they wouldn't budge. There was a line of people up the street and over the hill waiting to get in. He just started his car and left. And he still hasn't made good on it. The only way I could get my money was to "put some of his close friends health in jeapordy"(Haley) and she had to send me my money that Gary owed me because that is the way he did business. Gary is the guy that went on America's Most Wanted when Rob Black had Messiahs thumbs cut off and exposed the business saying that the wrestlers were all friends and wrestling was a work and everybody was trying to make a name for themselves. Me and Sabu to offense to it because we had spent 10 years traveling the world and had made names for ourselves. That shows you how much a mark this BITCH really is. Why am I even talking about Gary? Last week someone posted some shit about my health and that I got injured on some message board. It was bullshit, but anyway, Gary called me and wanted to see how I was doing, and he wanted to bury the hatchet, let bygones be bygones and be my friend. My response: When the bitch owed me money, he didn't call, when I was stuck at the airport, he didn't call, when I lost my luggage, he didn't call, when I had no gear to wrestle in, he didn't call, and when I was hunting his family down for my money, he didn't call. Gary Can go fuck himself, and i hope his kids get ran over by a "short" schoolus at the bus stop. New Jack PS: If Gary tries to run a show, anybody who works for him should be taken out into a field and shot. Gary's Response: Wow. To think that all I did was call him up and ask how he was doing. But you know what? I’ve lain back like a bitch for the past eight months while everyone has talked their shit. The simple truth is that MOST of the criticism leveled at me has been justified, especially by guys like Paul T, who DESERVE my head on a platter. Other guys, like Aaron Aguilera and Adam Pearce, have taken their shots at me in a good-natured way that I’ve enjoyed. But New Jack? Alright, I’ll bite. Let’s do this – And let’s start with the lies. New Jack writes - “He contacted me, along with Sabu. Working for G was an experience I wish to forget because it is hard to work for a mark that has 0 knowledge of the business.” First off, while I DID contact Sabu, New Jack contacted me. Period. This is always the case when a “new fed” starts up. The workers come outta the woodwork, all talking about how the current “fill-in-the-name” promotion that they work for sucks ass, the owner of the company doesn’t know what he’s doing, the booker can’t create a decent angle to save his life, how they’re NEVER utilized properly, etc. and they ALL hope to work for you because YOU are the one who can TURN IT ALL AROUND – well, with THEIR leadership, of course - ONLY with THEIR leadership. And all it’s gonna cost is a VERY exaggerated payday that they BANK on you not realizing as over-inflated. Out of respect to Jack, I will not reveal the amount that he was paid but I would later learn that it was double what he was getting from XPW (which of course would mean that he were actually lying to me about what his “standard” rate was – and New Jack wouldn’t lie, would he? NO!). Score one for the worker over the mark-ass boss with 0 knowledge of the business. In all fairness to everyone involved with EPIC, the decision to hire Jack was mine and mine alone. Everyone else was against it, realizing Jack’s “limitations” as a worker. This decision, like many others that would follow, did nothing but resound my ignorance, as time would eventually teach me. Nevertheless, I fought for Jack and, to my sheer delight, enjoyed his first appearance at “International Collision” very much. It still stands as one of the greatest shoot interviews of all time. Jack goes on – “He asked me to come out and work with his so-called "hardcore" clowns that had 0 knowledge of the business. I did, and the matches were the drizzling shits.” This is where all the New Jack nay-sayers backstage were proven right. Considering that Jack worked for me twice (more on that third time later) and of those two matches, only one of them was a “real” match, he’s right – they WERE the drizzling shits. His debut can hardly be called a match, as all he did was bust up the Hardkore Kidd (an act that was supposed to lead to a feud that Jack eventually VETOED after having agreed to do it in the first place – a problem that would eventually become the norm and would lead to him being let go from EPIC). His only “real” match in EPIC was at Messiah’s Benefit Show against Black Metal and had I known that he was going to 1) legitimately try to not only hurt Black Metal outta some bullshit Bob Holly-esque “code of honor” but humiliate him, as well, and in doing so 2) cause a NOTICEABLE discomfort backstage amongst the locker room as they watched the fiasco in the ring and 3) CHARGE me for the appearance that night despite being told that nobody would be paid because the show was for Billy – I NEVER WOULD HAVE USED HIM THAT NIGHT! But hey, I liked the guy and kept giving him the benefit of the doubt. I wanted to believe that Jack, as he had stated NUMEROUS times to me, was NOT out for himself. He said that he believed in the company and would do WHATEVER it took to put it over. He warned me against those around me who were just trying to use me. He assured me that nobody could be trusted except for him. Of course, I’d always suspected that he was full of shit. Hell, check it out for yourself when he writes – “He owed me money and I told him he bounced the check to Rob Black. I told him I needed money to go to court with XPW, and it was only a work on Gary because I wanted my damned money. XPW didn't even know it was a work, well until now.” HUH???? Dude, what the HELL are you talking about? I bounced a check to Rob Black? REALLY? And the court thing was a work? No shit? REALLY? You mean you were only trying to get MORE money outta me that you hadn’t even WORKED FOR YET? Nooooo, NOT YOU, New Jack. You would NEVER pull that kinda shit? Would you? Well then came September and not only “Bigger, Badder, Better!” but “America’s Most Wanted”, as well. If anyone knows EPIC history, they’ll know that that was the end of whatever was left of the New Jack/EPIC relationship. Jack summarized it with – “Gary is the guy that went on America's Most Wanted when Rob Black had Messiah’s thumbs cut off and exposed the business saying that the wrestlers were all friends and wrestling was a work and everybody was trying to make a name for themselves. Me and Sabu to offense to it because we had spent 10 years traveling the world and had made names for ourselves. That shows you how much a mark this BITCH really is.” A few corrections - Jack, Messiah had ONE thumb cut off – not two. And if Sabu took any offense to the piece, then why didn’t he EVER bring it up to me? By the way, please stop attempting to lump yourself in with Sabu on ANYTHNG, okay? He’s a class act who was NEVER difficult in any way. You were another story. And YES, Jack, YOU GOT ME – I EXPOSED THE BUSINESS OF PROFESSIONAL WRESTLING! ME! I…AM…GUILTY! You know what, man, to even COMMENT on this FRIGHTENINGLY IGNORANT OPINION is something I can’t even REMOTELY ENTERTAIN! The NERVE of me to actually SUGGEST that workers are TRYING TO MAKE NAMES FOR THEMSELVES! I deserve to be tied down and forced to watch back-to-back nonsensical Hardkore Kidd promos (which I think ran for about three weeks in a row on EPIC-TV) from now until doomsday for such an outlandish comment! I’m not even gonna bring up YOUR appearance on the biggest expose in professional wrestling history, “Beyond the Mat” – well, hmmm. Yeah, I guess I just did, huh? Ah well. The sad truth, Jack, is that you were bitter at Keith Greenberg, the Producer of the “America’s Most Wanted” piece, because they chose not to use any of the interview that they did with you. But what do you care, right? According to YOU, you were gonna solve Messiah’s case BY YOURSELF in a matter of DAYS, right? RIGHT, JACK? Well guess the fuck what – it’s been almost a YEAR! How’s that search going, Mister “Ear-to-the-streets”? Didja crack the case yet? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. And Lord knows at the “Bigger, Badder, Better!” show your backstage charm was in FULL EFFECT! Not only did you ATTEMPT to punk out Disco Machine for his “America’s Most Wanted” comments (BY THE WAY, SHAME ON YOU, MIKE MONDRAGON, FOR TELLING THE VIEWING AUDIENCE THAT WRESTLING IS A WORK!), but after SHAKING HIS HAND and telling him it was cool, you proceeded to IGNORE every angle planned that night – AGAIN – and instead went out to the ring and SHOT ON DISCO MACHINE – a man that you already SETTLED things with backstage. Nice, Jack. Real professional. Another lame attempt to “school” and humiliate a “no-talent” like Disco Machine that ultimately backfired on YOU because, as I’m sure your selective memory won’t recall, it was no more than a few days later when you threatened to quit on me – and I didn’t stop you! And THAT, Jack, THAT is what gets at you the most! That I would CHOOSE Disco Machine over the Great New Jack is what will ALWAYS eat at you. New Jack writes – “He owed me money and NEVER made good on it.” I owe you NOTHING, Jack. You were ADVANCED all of your pay and, if anything, in the end - you owed me. But the airline screw-up on my end at “Bigger, Badder, Better!” made me feel bad and I CHOSE to give you some money in the end to call us even and YES, it was ONLY after you called my Hailey and threatened to send a group of men to rape her and kill her at her place of employment that I did, indeed, send you the money. Wow – she’s my weakness. THERE’S a revelation. I’m not even gonna comment on the 11/17 fiasco because EVERYTHING you know about it is wrong and, Jack, you weren’t there anyway (you know – what with you being FIRED and all) so why bother, right? But you WERE there to call me that night and tell me how “shit happens” and that if I ever needed anything, to just call you because we were cool. Right? RIGHT, JACK? Jack closes with – “Last week someone posted some shit about my health and that I got injured on some message board. It was bullshit, but anyway, Gary called me and wanted to see how I was doing, and he wanted to bury the hatchet, let bygones be bygones and be my friend.” Again, Jack, you got me. I heard it was a pretty bad scare for you and as a human being who THOUGHT we were cool; I wanted to make sure you were okay. DAMN ME ALL TO HELL! I would do the same for anyone, even Paul T. Especially Paul T. It was a knee-jerk and, ultimately foolish, compassionate reaction that I had but SHIT, MAN – looking back at all of this shit, especially after what you did to Hailey, WHAT THE FUCK WAS I THINKING?! Jack, the sad truth is that you’ve always been bitter about how you left EPIC. You’ve always been bitter about the fact that you weren’t catered to as the second coming of Messiah in EPIC. You consistently put yourself over as my “Main face” in the company and had no problem shitting all over guys like American Dragon, Super Dragon, Bobby Quance, Aaron Aguilera, Excalibur, TARO, the Ballard Brothers, and the list goes on. You tried to play me and it eventually caught up to you because I wouldn’t bend over and take it like Paul Heyman did. Or Jim Cornette. Or Rob Black, who literally ran in fear from you. No, Jack, I was the ONLY person to EVER actually CHALLENGE what you wanted and YELL BACK AT YOU in a confrontation. You posed as my friend but when you couldn’t get what you wanted anymore, you called me a Mark. You’re right, Jack. I’m a Mark. I’m the only fucking Mark who NEVER backed down from you. You want to wish me death? Cool. You REALLY aren’t the first (although seeing as how you always lay claim to be the Inventor of EVERYTHING wrestling-oriented, I’m sure you’ll say that you are) and I can assure you that you won’t be the last. Hell, you’re not even the biggest. OR THE SCARIEST. You’re just a sad, bitter man who carries around an ocean of hatred and resentment towards everything and everyone whom he feels has done him wrong. You’re a lying, hypocritical, con-man who’s always been more talk than action and let me tell you, Jack, that’s coming from another lying, hypocritical con-man. You see, Jack, I’ve LOST EVERYTHING in my life over EPIC – EVERYTHING, YOU SUNNAVABITCH, including my family (the only things worth doing it for) so let me make this VERY FUCKING CLEAR – YOU … DON’T … SCARE … ME. So you can take your hollow-ass threats, your unprofessional openly-bragging-about-how-you-tried-to-legitimately-kill-Grimes-at-Freefall demeanor, and your sorry-ass LIES, and shove them all up your ass cause you’re dealing with a stupid-ass Honky White Boy who really doesn’t GIVE A SHIT! Oh … and get better. Hugs and kisses, Gary
Guest Kid Kablam Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I don't know a thing about the background to this feud. What was the America's most wanted incident? What happened with the thumb incident? Does Rob black creep you out as much as he does me? Is Epic completely out of business? Is Gary Yap a bitch ass mark? Is there any hope for coherency on either part of the argument? HELP! Mecha Mummy 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I do have to smirk, here, at NEW JACK talking about wrestling talentless people. I don't really know too much about the whole incident, but after reading both of their arguments, I'm siding with Yap. Maybe it's because his sarcasm is impeccable... PsychoDriver 0 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I. What was the America's most wanted incident? Is Epic completely out of business? 1. on AMW, Yap and others implied that wrestling was fake (Groundbreaking revelation I know) and New Jack said they "exposed" the business and went crazy over it, Even cutting an unscripted promo about it on Disco Machine at EPIC's 4th show. Which lead Yap to "fire" him from EPIC. Whole thing was really stupid. 2. Yes, Don't look for them to come back... ever. Good news for SoCal fans though we've got PWG coming July 26th, with a Samoa Joe Vs. AJ Styles Main Event. So Who needs EPIC and all Gary Yap's drama. Guest Sandman9000 Report post Posted June 10, 2003 I don't know a thing about the background to this feud. What was the America's most wanted incident? What happened with the thumb incident? Does Rob black creep you out as much as he does me? Is Epic completely out of business? Is Gary Yap a bitch ass mark? Is there any hope for coherency on either part of the argument? HELP! #1: The America's Most Wanted incident came about when AMW did a piece on Messiah having his thumb cut off by two sent assailants. Gary Yap was featured on the show and said some comments about wrestling being a work and everyone really getting along in real life. In his rant, Jack is upset over Yap "exposing the business." Though I'm not sure exactly how much more of the business is left to be exposed. #2: The thumb incident came when Messiah was home in SoCal around late July-early August of last year (I don't remember the exact date offhand). While Messiah was home playing video games, his female roommate left the apartment, I believe to walk their dog. Two unknown men entered the apartment, whom Messiah believed knew his roommate. They attacked Messiah with gardening sheers, stabbing him in the leg and originally going for his penis. Messiah fought back only to have a fishtank smashed over his head. The assailants then cut off his right thumb and left the apartment before they could be caught. There was a characture of both men on the net a couple of days later, though no arrests have been made. The popular belief is that the men were sent by Rob Black, though no charges have been directed towards Black and Extreme Associates, the porno company Black owns. #3: Yes, yes he does. #4: As far as people know, EPIC is completly out of business. Yap could never find a financial backer to help out with his costs, especially since Yap flew in a lot of top indy talent from the East Coast. Which leads into #5: The general consensus on Yap is that he was a mark for the business who had no previous experience in any aspects of professional wrestling. Even in the short time EPIC was around, Yap managed to stiff many people on their pay, including New Jack, either intentionally or unintentionally. This has obviously led to Yap making many enemies around the industry, and even if Yap was able to find a financial backer and was able to restart EPIC, very few people would be willing to work for him. #6: Well, neither side has a ton of credibility. However, while Yap is all but blackballed from wrestling, New Jack is still kicking around and appears on PPV to this day. Yap put up a better argument on SCU, however since New Jack is the one who is still in wrestling, you've got to give him the edge.

Guest geniusMoment Report post Posted June 12, 2003 Does New Jack realize he just admitted to committing a felony? He said he threatened Yap's family with bodily harm. Threatening to kill and rape someone over money, even if you're owed it, is punishable by many yearts in prison and Jack just admitted he did it. If Yap hates him all he has to do is take him to court and Jack can spend about another 10 years in jail.

Guest NoSelfWorth Report post Posted June 13, 2003 The popular belief is that the men were sent by Rob Black You forgot to mention the key detail of Messiah having sexing with Black's girlfriend. Borden is Black's wife. I'm surprised the entire XPW roster aren't walking around with no thumbs by now. Not to mention every other wrestler to have competed for them. Or the ring crew. Or the lighting crew. Or the ringside fans.
