The Raw Boycott

Recommended Posts

Guest the pinjockey

I watched about 10 minutes of it and not because of the boycott.

I never thought I would see the day when the Discovery Channel would be wooing me away from monday night wrestling, but I like their Monday night lineup.

Boycotting, what is this the fancy term for turning the channel? Is that scientific for not watching something you don't want to watch? Have I been boycotting the Anna Nicole Smith show?

To me boycotting is just complaining, because you obviously care about the product if your hoping your going to affect it, and your obviously not detached if your looking for some kind of results.

I watched Raw last night, some times I changed the channel, then back.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

I have to say I heard nothing of a boycott. When did this happen?

Raw is replayed one hour after it ends in Canada, so SKeith watched that and reviewed it.

No offense to anyone who took place in this boycott (and wasn't just not watching Raw anyway), but what the fuck was being proved here? The rating ended up being down but I'm 99.9% sure that had nothing to do with a boycott half the people (myself included) in this thread didn't even seem to know was happening. I was only really aware of a boycott Tim "El Dandy~" Livingston mentioned in one of his columns on 411 for sometime in May, and out of politeness I didn't trash it as totally useless or retarded in Shades of Gray (also because I ended up not writing another column since I started working 2 months ago... I had a bit of time today and was going to write a Bad Blood preview, but then I asked myself why I would even bother something like that and passed, waiting for another idea to hit me on a day off in the future.. but I digress).

The only people who know there was a boycott seem to be the people who already aren't watching or watching and not enjoying it, so saying "yep, I didn't watch Raw" shows nothing.

Perhaps there is some mission statement written somewhere I haven't read that details the fact that such a boycott would do nothing of importance and was merely designed for the sake of principle, but seeing nothing myself I wrote to Keith and asked why he even bothered with the boycott when as a Canadian his not watching mattered even less. I said he should have just stuck with the hockey excuse, but it really didn't matter since a few hours later a Raw rant was up with brand new reasoning (the IQ Test on FOX).

So, whatever.

Petitions, boycotts, etc. = Worthless.

But that's just my opinion.

Wow, you're boycotting a show that no one knows if you're watching or not since you don't have a neilsen box. REBELS~!

I unintentionally boycotted. I haven't seen a WWE show in maybe a month or more, not intential, I just don't think of it anymore. I forget to tape it, I forget to watch it, then I remember and read the results. I still am faithful to the product, it's just a combination of business and it kinda losing it's exciting "Must See" factor.

The sad thing is since the split, I've seen so much more of the RAW brand than the Smackdown brand, just due to the fact Smackdown has always been easier to forget/miss.
