Guest Lethargic Report post Posted June 11, 2003 The Transformers -- the ever-morphing Hasbro toy line introduced in the mid-1980s that has gone on to spawn comic books, multiple television series and an animated feature -- are being prepped to change shape again, this time into stars of the big screen. Angry Films topper Don Murphy (whose next film is "The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen") and writer-producer Tom DeSanto ("X-Men" and "X2: X-Men United") have teamed to produce a feature-length, live-action movie based on the popular brand. The duo are expected to shop the project to studios shortly, and DeSanto said they have already received interest from a handful of directors hoping to get involved in the project. DeSanto is currently working on a story treatment for the project before he and Murphy hire a screenwriter to adapt it for the big screen. I so hope they do this just halfway right. More Transformers, less Armada.
Guest razazteca Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Live action? I really do not want to see actors in Power Ranger costumes fighting it out on the big screen.
Guest Downhome Report post Posted June 11, 2003 How, in all that is fucked, can a LIVE ACTION version of this be pulled off? If you think the bitching over The Hulk looking "fake" is bad, I'd hate to see what people say about this. With that being said... ...I'll be there to watch it on opening weekend, lol. Guest CED Ordonez Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I think the metallic body of a Transformer would translate better into CG than the more human body of The Hulk. And even as a professed anime fan, I have to say Transformers Armada is sheer, undeniable crap.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted June 11, 2003 *Pearl-Harbors Downhome with a cast-iron skillet to the back of the head* There is no way... NO... WAY.. that this could be a good idea at all... if it was animated, even totally CGI'ed like Final Fantasy, maybe it would be.... but live action??? Damn all these Hollywood types for whoring out the icons of my childhood.....

Guest art_vandelay Report post Posted June 11, 2003 I don't think they'd have guys dressed in Power Rangers Megazord outfits for a Hollywood movie. In all likelyhood, a live action Transformers film at present time suggests CGI animated robots with live action actors portraying the human characters, set in the real world. It might be kinda cool if you think about it. Imagine Fast and the Furious, but the cars can transform into big talking robots.

Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Wait....maybe if they don't screw it up and change the story and decide "well those who created transformers had a good story......but I HAVE A BETTER IDEA!" just like every other comic/tv show to screen is. Oh and Armada was probably crap because of the dubbing company. 99% of the time if you see an Anime on Cartoon Network and it sucks just watch the original and you'll often find out it's the dubbing company. ex. Dragonball Z.
Guest starvenger Report post Posted June 11, 2003 Live action? I really do not want to see actors in Power Ranger costumes fighting it out on the big screen. I agree with you. Sentai is good for what it is, but it works better on the small screen. I don't think TF will be like that though. But, if you use as much CGI as I'm thinking you'd need, is it really live action anymore?

Well, too much CGI and youmight as well make it 100% CGI, like Final Fantasy, and that will suck just as badly. I don;t know, I just cannot see a way to make such a movie anywhere near good. Guest Dangerous A Report post Posted June 12, 2003 Fuck all of this. I want a live action GI Joe where there are a ton of tanks, guns, knives, planes, and war helicopters yet no blood and no one gets shot! Just like the A-Team.

Conspiracy_Victim 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2003 As a self-proclaimed Transformer Gen. 1 fan all I can say is, "THIS SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS!!!" If they're going to destroy all my fond childhood memories, make it a live action GI Joe movie. I'd pay good money to watch Snake Eyes sneak onto a Cobra base and go all Metal Gear Solid on people. Guest Vyce Report post Posted June 12, 2003 Oh please, Masters of the Universe was not nearly that bad. It was an okay film. I mean, it had a young Courtney Cox, before the Arquette days, and it did the best it could with the original source material. I personally think it was a pretty decent kid-oriented B-movie considering the original He-Man series was nothing but a fucking toy commercial.
Guest SP-1 Report post Posted June 12, 2003 I have mixed emotions here. Given the remarkable CG effects seen recently in movies like STAR TREK: NEMESIS (as far as vehicles, ships, etc), I think a CG fleet or Autobots could come out pretty well. But if the story sucks, I want nothing to do with it.
Rendclaw 0 Report post Posted June 12, 2003 Masters of the Universe was *horrible*. I didn;t like the filmation cartoon series, but I would take that over that piece of crap some call a movie. I do have to say I like the new series though. It's a pity, but since there are very few fresh, original ideas coming out of Hollywood these days, our pasts are doomed to be destroyed in the race to make a buck at the box office. Guest Lethargic Report post Posted June 12, 2003 If you're a Transformer fan, why the hell do you think this sucks? I've been waiting for this since I was 12. And why is everybody so confused on how it'll work. I believe that's pretty easy, which is why they've decided to do it finally. As long as they don't 4 year old the movie out, it could be cool. If they just basically follow the original origin story it'd be a kick ass movie. Has anybody seen the video that some guy made of a real VW Beetle transforming into a autobot? I can't find the video of it but I found this screen capture from it. The video itself looks friggin awesome and this is just some jerkoff in his bedroom on his home PC. If HE can do it, then I'm sure ILM can make some incredible looking realistic Transformers. Pic is too big for the board so just click here.. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/msmith1015/i...sktopImage2.jpg
Guest The Mighty Damaramu Report post Posted June 13, 2003 Well you know the original Masters of the Universe show wasn't that good. But the new one where they went into space rocked.

Guest The Amazing Rando Report post Posted June 13, 2003 They need to make a movie that takes place somewhere between Gen 1 Season 2 and The Movie ...to show exactly what got the Decepticons into power leading into the movie.... A gigantic CGI Unicron cameo would be bitchin' too... I just don't want to see anything having to do with Beast Wars, Beast Machines, or Armada.. I WANT GEN 1~! Guest Si82 Report post Posted June 13, 2003 I so hope they do this just halfway right. More Transformers, less Armada. I totally agree. On the subject of the film itself. I really do hope they can pull this off. I love Transformers and as long as they don't piss all over my childhood memories of the show I'll be happy. Besides, I can always watch the original movie. Now that does kick ass.
