... "loses to Ohaire, who came within an inch of losing to Hogan"

The first post in this thread had spoilers in it.

I really don't care.  They've completely ruined him.  Which was their whole objective, so congrats WWE!

Benoit is going through a period where hes puting over talent. Some jobs are good, some are bad. Im sure, by the end of summer, he will get in another good feud and carry a strap.

It is frustrating to see him lose from a fan stanpoint but seeing a vet put over talent warms my heart

Much respect to the Crippler

Benoit will get another tease feud, where he'll have a sort of program with a top star, then he'll go back to jobbing again. That's what I hate about what they're doing with Benoit, because he's the perenial bridesmaid. Hopefullly, one day, Vince wil at least give him a token transitional run, or a "I finally realized my dream ala Mick Foley" run, where he can't even win the title until Brock comes down and saves him ala Stone Cold getting Mick the title. That's the best we can hope for.

I always have trouble deciding if I like Benoit more as a heel or as a face. I loved it when he was feuding with the rock, and the boos would cascade down when his music hit, but at the same time, when he faced Steve Austin on Smackdown the cheers were trough the roof. Decisions decisons. Anyway, if I were to trun Benoit, I would have Paul Heyman come to the team of Benoit and Rhyno and make them a deal, get them back on the winning track, and they just pay him a slim 30 %. they are aprehensive at first, Rhyno doesn't trust Heyman (for good reason) and we could have Rhyno cut a cool promo about the devious evil Paul Heyman, with Heyman in the background sqeauling with delight at ow Rhyno describes his various evil schemes. Anyway, for this completely to work, you would need Paul Heyman to take a couple more wrestlers, who have had bad luck lately (Kanyon, Noble, and..... hmmm can't think of anyone right now) and Paul starts having these lackeys run in to help benoit and Rhyno. At first the duo is less than apreciative, as they want to win the correct way, but Paul explains that run ins are just one of the many services he provides. Then we could get a nice little promo where pauls describes the many managerial services he provides. Benoit, so frustrated by his previous losses, is gung ho, but Rhyno still isn't sure. Benoit basicly says Rhyno's opinion doesn't matter and that Paul is their manager. That night Benoit and Rhyno face Eddie and Tajiri, for tag team gold, and Rhyno hits Benoit agia, however, Heyman oulls Benoit out of the ring, and orders Benoit to end the bad luck once and for all, so Benoit grabs a chair from ringside, and lays out Eddie and Tajiri, then he orders Rhyno to bring Michael Cole over. Rhyno obeys, and Benoit lays into Michael. Next Benoit orders Rhyno to bering in Tazz, so Rhyno goes to obey, but Tazz low blows Rhyno and is about to get away, but Benoit hits a tope through the ropes and re-debuts his powerbomb on Tazz, and puts Tazz through a table. Benoit then orders Rhyno to grab Heyman, so Rhyno does, and Heyman is scared shitless, but then Benoit smiles and hugs Heyman, and raises his hand in victory. Next week, Benoit gets a visit from Team Angle, they want help in getting back at Kurt for abandoning them. Benoit agrees, but only if his mission forthe title comes first. I think things could go from there.

Rhyno will turn on Benoit, because Benoit is "too pathetic" to even be associated with. Rhyno will then to go a "real winner" in the big show as they look to take on Angle and Brock. Meanwhile, benoit will play the beaten wife who questions what she did wrong and begs rhyno to take him back and rhyno takes him back, only to humiliate him some more and then leaves Benoit laying beaten in a gutter. Then benoit becomes john cenas bitch because he's so lost and confused and fragile, that he's easily manipulated. He becomes cenas prag, the beecher to his schillinger; dresses up in make up, gives hoodies to wankstas, takes it up the pooper, gets a "world life" tatoo on his ass, etc.

Benoit had a habit in the early years of going to the top rope as if to do a moonsault, but got caught along the way ala Ric Flair... I don't think he's ever done one.

Maybe BenoitSuicida... yeah, BENOITSUICIDA!

I'm unsure if it's because the way that the WWE is using Benoit or just the collective blowjob that he gets from everyone online, but I've gotten rather apathetic about Benoit lately, which is sad because at one point he was one of my favorite wrestlers.

And I think it will take more than a title run to make me care again.

Quote from RRR "Benoit had a habit in the early years of going to the top rope as if to do a moonsault, but caught along the way ala Ric Flair... I don't think he's ever done one."

I've never seen Benoit do a moonsault whenever he tried this either but this is what he has done: (all moves done facing towards the crowd at first)

1) A sunset flip. I only really rmember 1 other person doing this and that was a big muscular wrestler from Stampede. Benoit has nailed this at least once against Liger and once against Gran Hamada (It might have been Sabu) in a 95 New Japan tag match

2)Cross Body Block-Has used this against Sabu but missed and nailed the referee

3)Back Elbow against opponent to the mouth when opponent is standing. He nailed this against Johnny Smith in Stampede around January of 1989

4)Back Elbow against opponent when opponent is laying down in the middle of the ring. He nailed this against Johnny Smith as well when they first started feuding in 1988. Just a beautiful move. This is the same move that Kyoko Inoue has preformed quite a few times.

5)Flying headbutt. He only did this one time really early in his career that I've seen against the Great Gama in Stampede.

Usually Benoit's jumping up to the turnbuckle backwards is just a move to get caught by his opponent just like Ric Flair. However he has managed to pull it off a few times. So we'll say Benoit has about a 3% batting percentage while Flair is at .001%

just like everybody else on the board, all it's gonna take for you is another great match for him to be in & you'll be all "BENOIT! BENOIT! BENOIT!" just like last year after unforgiven.

Look guys, Benoit rules. He should ave had the title years ago, but WWE fucked him up BIG TIME. He deserves a title run in the next year.

in 2000 they teased the hell out of us with his "title wins"

Seems like you're always saying "They HAVE to give him the belt soon"...but they keep fucking with it. I think they'll give him the belt a month before he retires.

Yep, and then there will be no point anyway.

Right, because WWE makes bad timing and bad execution with title reigns on good wrestlers, especially Jericho back in 2001, when he mostly lost before and won the title by Vince's interference, so there was no way people could have possibly bought into his title reign when it took so much overbooking to have him win the WWE Undisputed title, rather than him winning the title on his own. Then, we all saw what happened after HHH came back, and that was the final nail in the coffin for Jericho unfortunately.

Agreed

as much as I love Benoit I really don't think he's got the charisma to be a draw over an extended period

It's been a long time since I've been pro-Benoit, and don't watch Smackdown to know how good his matches are.

I just got so tired of everyone blowing smoke up his ass all the time that it actually became entertaining for me to read the collective heart attacks each time he loses. (There's even a small part of me that actually kind of hopes he keeps getting screwed around and held down, just so the saga will continue)

Benoit can get over as a face by being the "This is what I do for a living!" face. It's a simple formula that, I think, Benoit can portray well.

Benoit can get over easily as a heel by being the aggressive "I'll cripple you!" heel, rummaging through Main Event stars and upper mid-card workers as well.

Benoit will never be the #1 guy, because he doesn't have a catchy catchphrase (credit WWE.com)

I like BPS idea.

Hopefully in Summerslam we'll get a new US Champ and keeping the belt at least until SurSer.

Yeah they need to quit this "You have to have a catchy phrase to be top guy. Oh and you have to look like this and you have to talk like this." Because it's killing the company. Maybe Benoit can be the guy to change all that.
