Yet another ridiculous George W. Bush moment

Recommended Posts

Guest Vitamin X

He's the man pictured reading a book to children upside-down. He's the man you'll see pulling on a door visibly marked 'Push'. And today, ladies and gentlemen, I give you...

The leader of the free world. Who apparently can't handle a segway scooter and what appears to be a woman's bicycle.

Local news tried to spin this one.

"I hear you need hours of training to drive one of those things!"

WOW, you guys are either really, really petty, or just really, really desparate for things to pick on Bush about.

It's hard for me to decide which......oh, I know: BOTH.

It's not being petty or desperate for things to pick on Bush about. It's well-known Bush isn't the most intelligent man on the planet, and also well-established things that he has done that have shown quite a sum of stupidity involved.

Eh, back when Clinton was in office the EXACT SAME THING was done to him. And don't pretend it wasn't.

I thought it was ridiculous then, when it was done to Clinton. I think it's ridiculous now, when it's being done to President Bush. The people filling up this silly thread with their empty snickering are only demonstrating that they themselves are the ones who "lack intelligence." Can any of you tell me, right now, that you've never tripped? - stumbled? - misspoken? EVER? In practical terms the President is on camera 24/7. If he sneezes twice in a row, it's a fucking news story with 10 column inches in the New York Times saying he just sneezed because "neoconservatives" in the administration want to give government contracts to pharmaceutical companies in Israel. You want to pretend that a minor mishap with a motorised scooter epitomises a man's intelligence, fine. Serious people stopped listening to your kind a long, long time ago.

PS. It's "Chretien."

Oh, sorry, than I'm mistaken. "HE FELL DOWN! HE STOOPID!" All of this time I didn't know that the very human frailty known as clumsiness was associated with an overall lack of intelligence.

I've heard it said that Einstein had trouble tying his shoelaces, so I suppose under your logic he must have been a fucking retard.

Not to canonize Bush, but if anything, that picture shows he's HUMAN. Oh, he fell down, let's point and laugh and make like he's an idiot.

Pat yourself on the back, big man, you've earned that smug feeling of superiority. Enjoy it while you can.

I must apologize yet again. I apparently was absent the day when they taught us that two wrongs make a right.

I never said they did, Vyce. But I'd be willing to bet you weren't half as upset when the same thing was done to Clinton. And I think I'd win that bet.

::shrug:: I just think it's a very funny picture of the President of the United States falling off a scooter. Anyone who takes it really seriously one way or the other is...well, taking it too seriously. God I'm good with words.

While it is pretty funny, let's Dubya a break. I mean come on, that whole walking thing is TOUGH.

Bush is stupid jokes ceased to be funny around the same time Clinton blowjob jokes did.

Guest Smell the ratings!!!

What are people getting all upset about this for?

I mean, how can an American not see humor in the President falling off a bike, seriously. No one said he's dumb. No one said he made a mistake about economy/Iraq/whatever. It's just funny.

And yet, Jay Leno STILL uses them as a staple of his monologues.

If you think silly and amusing factoid's about a President's life haven't ALWAYS been poked and made the butts of jokes like this, why do people STILL remember that Taft was so fat that he needed his own extra large tub installed?

When did I say that it doesn't have historical precedent? Of course it does. So does taking a shit. No one does that in public and expects it to be applauded as incisive political commentary, but it has at least as much intellectual value as this thread. Relating "amusing factoids" is one thing; using them as evidence for pre-existing prejudices (especially concerning someone's intelligence, of all things) is something else entirely. I'll mock Jimmy Carter for being attacked by a rabbit, but I won't use that to support my contention that he was and is a weak-kneed morally blind ninny. There are much better ways to establish that.

YOU SHUT UP DONT CALL HIM STUPID GOD FORBID ANYONE EVER LAUGHS AT THE PRESIDENT ACTING RETARDED.

Jesus I hate it when you and your clones come into threads like this and do that shit.

It looked like he did something stupid. Does anyone expect the President to be flawless? No. From the pictures, it almost looks like he was trying to surf the handlebars or something.

Someone's opinion of the President's intelligence levels are just that, an opinion, and you and other people in this thread have clearly proved that these pictures aren't going to change either opinion.

Lighten up.

And by no means does this mean this administration is incapable of riding a Segway. Cheney can do it just fine

And I hate it when you and your "clones" post irrelevant garbage about the administration that purports to prove us corrupt, stupid, dishonest, incompetent, callous, or unethical. I care about what annoys you just as much as you care about what annoys me.

Someone's opinion of the President's intelligence levels are just that, an opinion
Indeed. However there are reasonable and unreasonable opinions; opinions that have substance, that are supported by facts, and those that are not. Opinions which consist of "The President is dumb because he stumbled over a scooter" fall into the latter category. They have no rational basis and serve merely as a backdrop of high-pitched hyaena cackles for those who have already convinced themselves that President Bush is "dumb."

Lighten up.
Don't insult my President and don't defend those who do, and I'll consider it.

President George W. Bush: A property of Cancer Marney Industries.

Sorry, saying "my president" prompted that.

It isn't really all that funny, considering how often people fall down every day. It's a fairly common occurance, and simply it happening to a high profile person doesn't make it funnier. I mean, if he'd slipped on a banana peel, THAT would be funny regardless of who did it, whether it be Joe the Jolly Janitor or, say, Tony Blair. I mean, how often does someone slip on a banana peel? Hell, I would laugh at myself if I did it.

Um, anyways, this wasn't that funny, especially since I'd probably bust my ass on one too, considering my luck.

Heh. Well, it distinguishes me from the cretins who wear shirts with "Not My President" on them.

True. I'd laugh, if only because it'd remind me of Eeyore asking "Didja hear the one about... the banana peel slippers?"

I hear about those shirts, but I've yet to see one. I've never even seen them being sold. I'd go for the more moderate "He's the president, but I didn't vote for him." Whatever happened to the "Don't blame me, I voted for (losing candidate)" style shirts and bumper stickers?

Dunno. I've seen several bumper stickers and car thingies with the false, petty slogan I cited, though. One or two shirts on the GMU campus (where my girlfriend is taking classes) as well.
