Guest Michael Joel Benoit Report post Posted June 16, 2003 These VH1 lists are starting to become annoying, irritating, and a cliche'. How many lists can they create on the SAME TOPIC!!! Most of the artists on this list have no place in the "100 Greatest Songs of the last 25 Years". And honestly, I love Eminem, Public Enemy, and even Missy Elliot. But in NO WAY, do they deserve to have songs in that list because there are better songs that deserve to be on that list. Hanson and Nelly?!!! Ugh. And I liked the "I Love The 80's" series also. But after seeing it about 1,000 times has soured my opinion of the show. I still don't get the point of having VH1 when it's become MTV Jr. We already have MTV2, so what's the point? Stupid, STUPID VH1.
Guest Midnight Express83 Report post Posted June 16, 2003 The list is made for nothing more than "Water cooler debates" at work for middle America. The core group of people who watch VH1 are not made up of the core group of people who watch wrestling. Muchless go on Message boards. So with that in mind, I thought it was pretty solid for what it is. And if you can't see "Smells like Teen Sprit" being the biggest song of the last 25 years, then you are just blind, and maybe dumb too. Because the amount of Airtime and blow jobs giving to that song and that group just prove it.
Guest El Satanico Report post Posted June 16, 2003 Some people get way too worked up over stuff like this. Lists made by sources that cater to "hits" are never based on artistic merit. I feel sorry for those people that still read them and expects that. Even a "perfect list" that went on artistic merit would get shit on for some reason. Guest stardust Report post Posted June 17, 2003 This list should be titled "The Clairol Herbal Essences® VH1's 100 Favorite Top Ten Hits of the Past 25 Years: Hosted by Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20." As a matchbox twenty fan, I'm not sure if I should raise my eyebrow or laugh my ass off at this. Probably laugh my ass off... Yeah, definitely laugh my ass off. That's just funny. Smooth is on there, so at least they got something right. Damn straight. *grin* Yeah, VH1's penchant for top *random number* *random music-related topic* *random time period* lists are kinda...off...and annoying at times. Like last week, I was watching the Top 25 Videos to Get It On To (or something like that) and they had this one techno song on there that we have on our CD at work. I was like "um, that song doesn't wanna make me get it on, it makes me wanna stab somebody." So, yeah, some of their choices make absolutely no sense whatsoever. Then again, "Your Body Is a Wonderland" was on there, too, as was that one Chris Isaak video with Helena Christianson. So, yeah. Those were two good choices, IMO. B. Brian Brunzell 0 Report post Posted June 17, 2003 My hatred for the VH1 lists began with the 50 Greatest Hip-Hop Artists, and continues with this. Although I don't particularly like the song, on cannot deny what "Smells Like Teen Spirit" did to music.
Guest Vern Gagne Report post Posted June 17, 2003 But the list isn't most important, it's best song of the last 25 years.
