Alright, I think most of us have all had a few sports games where we go like 16-0 in the season or 79-3 or something along the lines. Or closed off the season with 40 straight wins. ]

Now I'm wondering, has anyone ever done this, seemed invincible in the regular season only to get knocked off by the Computer in the playoffs.

For me:

In Madden 2000 for PS, I tied(!?) my first game of the season with Pittsburgh, won the rest whatever that is (15-0-1) Then I went on to lose in the playoffs to a team (can't remember who, maybe Dolphins) that I had knocked off handily in the regular season (something like 51-3 or in that range). It was the the Divisional Final. They were about 8-8 and had won the wild card game. I lost the game by missing a last minute field goal. It didn't help that the Bus was injured in a late regular season game and missed the playoffs. I was so pissed off that I shut the machine off right there and never played that franchise again.

I pulled a similar thing with the Raiders in NFL 2k2 for DC. This time it was the Superbowl Final but I had an undefeated season and was just squashing teams with Garner and Wheatley eating everyone up. I seem to recall losing the final rather handily too.

Also did it in NBA Live 2000 or 2001 for PS with the Sac Kings. l lost maybe 3 games all year. Those three were probably in my first 20 games. Swept the first two rounds of the playoffs and then lost to the Spurs in 7 in the West final.

Any of these bizarre upsets ever happen to you?

Just had one last night against Vermont in NCAA Basketball 2K3. I was beating them by 19 with 12 minutes to go....and somehow end up losing by 2.

In my NHL 2002, I try to take obscure teams to the Cup Finals and win. Well, I decided to skip the bad teams and take an underrated Islanders team to the Cup, to relive the glory days.

I did the entire season, going 51-17-10-4 and getting the #1 seed in the east.

My first round opponents were the ever dangerous Washington Capitals. I won the first 3 games of the series, and had it in the bag. They won game 4 in OT. That's fine, I figured. I'd just clinch on home ice. They won game 5 in OT. Now, I was getting frustrated, so I made a superline of Peca/Yashin/Brunette and got a 5-1 lead going into the 3rd of game 6. They came back to get it to 5-4 with 25 seconds left in the game. They had a flurry, but Snow put them down, and covered. I got the superline out to win the draw, but Peca lost the draw, and one of their defensemen put it in to tie the game! We went to OT, where Jagr scored on a fucking breakaway! Game 7!!

In game 7, I did the same thing. Got up big going into the 3rd, 4-1. They tied it with 3 minutes to go, and Jagr scored with a minute and a half remaining to take the lead. I pulled Snow, and went 6 on 5 to try to tie it, but hit the post, and Kolzig shot it down the length of the ice to win the game 6-4 and complete the comeback from 3-0.

Just had my own upset in MVP.

Now I'm playing my beloved Blue Jays team and was on a 28 game winning streak, and had sunk the Sox time and time again so I figured it would be another easy night.

So I got up 6-0 in the fourth and finally feel quite good about my game and my pitcher.

Well, Sturtze coughs a single run up in te top of the fifth and I'm like ok, whatever.

Then after I couldn't get anything going in the bottom half, the sixth came. I blow a five run lead to get tied 6-6. Next inning, I blow another run. Then another TWO. I managed to get two runs back in the bottom of the eighth, but like, it was too little too late.

Oh well, I'll cream'em in this new game.

when my brothter was 5 and i was 10 we were playing nhl 94, and i had never lost a game to anyone or the computer. I was the Redwings and my brother was the devils and he beat me 1-0. I outshot him something like 56-11 and out hit him by a lot and he still beat me somehow

Me, a friend of mine, and this really annoying guy who would just walk right into our apartment were playing WWF Warzone for the N64.

We decided to whip the annoying guy in the game to shut his mouth cause he did nothing but talk trash.

We did a Three Way Cage Match and basically double teamed him the whole match. We had him in the red and decided to finally start fighting each other for who would win the match and the idiot pulls out a fluke and wins.

We never lived that down.

Happened to my roommate a friend and myself just this sunday night with SYM.

The week before we had decided to pound the living crap out of Christian using our CAWs in a captain fall elimination match. We proceeded to annihilate him for a good hour and a half, trying all kinds of double team moves and three-way smackdown combos.

Cut ahead to this Sunday where we get together and we do a King of the Ring tournament with our own CAWs in it and randomized opponents.

DDP was one of them.

in the first round, DDP eliminates my friend's CAW. I win my first round match against Eddy, who *always* gives me fits, but after a major struggle. My roommate wins his match with similiar difficulty.

Second round: DDP beats me with a freaking SUNSET FLIP~! of all things. Roomie gets through his match and advanced to face DDP in the finals, where he barely wins that match by the skin of his teeth.

Now I have played Smackdown level for a long time, and i am very used to it, but the level of tension was high that night because almost everything that was attempted by myself and my friend against DDP was instantly countered. I have stopped believing a long, long time ago that games aren;t sentient (when I was like 12), but on a night like that, you have to wonder.
