Guest Vern Gagne Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Is it Coke w/Sprite, Vanilla Coke, Cherry Coke, Minute Maid Orange, Mellow Yellow, Mr.Pibb or is it Pepsi w/7up, Cherry Pepsi, Dr.Pepper, Mug Rootbeer. Which company has the better "sidekick drinks"?
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 FYI, Dr. Pepper is a part of the same company as 7Up (along with RC Cola, A&W, Canada Dry, Sunkist, Hawaiian Punch and Squirt, among others). It is not associated with Pepsi (although, I believe they do have a non-US deal with Coke). The two line-ups, for Pepsi and Coca-Cola, are as follows: Pepsi Pepsi Pepsi Twist Pepsi Blue Wild Cherry Pepsi Mountain Dew (Original, Code Red, LiveWire) Sierra Mist Lipton Brisk Mug Root Beer Slice Coca-Cola Coke Vanilla Coke Cherry Coke Mellow Yellow Minute Maid Sprite (Original, Remix) Mr. Pibb Nestea Cool Barq's Root Beer
Guest El Gigante Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I have to go with pepsi on this one. Just because I drink Mug and Mountain Dew alot along with Pepsi Twist.
Guest Eagan469 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Coke - Canada Dry Ginger-Ale owns you
Guest ElectricRaccoon Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Coke, without question. Vanilla Coke and Minute Maid are both good, and Pepsi Blue costs Pepsi any points it had with me from Mug root beer (which I still don't like as much as Barqs). Original Pepsi is pretty much the only Pepsi product I really like.
Guest AM The Kid Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Coke, all of it's products are great. Sprite schools 7-Up every time.
Guest BifEverchad Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Pepsi fo sheez.. Mt Dew? DR. PEPPER, and Mug!? Mmmmm!
Guest wwF1587 Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 i went with pepsi because of all the MD flavors (yeah sure they had pep blue, one of the worst sodas EVER but we all make mistakes)
Guest kkktookmybabyaway Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 A list of the following I would drink. Pepsi vs. Coke = Pepsi Cherry Pepsi vs. Cherry Coke = Coke Dew vs. Mellow Yellow = Dew Sierra Mist vs Minute Maid = Mist Slice vs. Sprite = Sprite Lipton vs. Nestea = Lipton Mug vs. Barq = Barq Final Score: Pepsi 4, Coke 3
rising up out of the back seat-nuh Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Coke. Cherry Coke is the God of all drinks. Also, WTF is Pepsi Blue? We don't get it over here. That sounds like a good thing.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Pepsi Blue should be the jailed gay uncle of the Pepsi family... they all know it's there...but nobody ever talks about it...
Guest T®ITEC Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 A Coke on ice with a slice of lemon... Mmm. I also enjoy the homemade Vanilla Coke I've been throwing together for a while now.
Guest ElectricRaccoon Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 Coke. Cherry Coke is the God of all drinks. Also, WTF is Pepsi Blue? We don't get it over here. That sounds like a good thing. Best I could describe it is a hybrid of blue Faygo and Crystal Pepsi. And it's worse than either one.
Guest Will Scarlet Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I had to go with Pepsi since Pespi Twist and Mountain Dew Code Red are easily two of my favourite drinks.
Guest The Amazing Rando Posted June 15, 2003 Report Posted June 15, 2003 I go with Pepsi ...due to the Dew...
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Coke. Cherry Coke is the God of all drinks. Also, WTF is Pepsi Blue? We don't get it over here. That sounds like a good thing. Best I could describe it is a hybrid of blue Faygo and Crystal Pepsi. And it's worse than either one. I've never had Faygo. I can detect some Crystal in P. Blue though. Chave: It's basically a raspberry flavored Pepsi. It's really not very good, although I didn't mind it that much, and would definitely choose it over Vanilla Coke. It absolutely MUST be served ice cold though, and the initial smell is not very pleasing. It definitely didn't do Pepsi any favors though, since it got tons of hype and didn't live up to it. Anyway, Pepsi gets the edge between Pepsi and Coke, since I live off Mountain Dew's incarnations along with regular Pepsi. Plus, I'm still quite bitter over Coke pulling Surge and re-introducing Mello Yellow instead. About the only thing I prefer out of Coke's line to Pepsi's is Barq's Root Beer to Mug. Hell, not taking the Coke/Cadbury-Schweppes non-US partnership into consideration, I'd even put the latter's roster of soda ahead of Coke, with the exception of the wretched RC Cola.

That's good enough for me. Consider it the Cousin Oliver of the Pepsi family.
Guest KingOfOldSchool Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Fair enough. But I only offered correction on the matter because both Pepsi and Coke produces and distributes Cadbury Schweppes brands, often depending on which region of the US or the world you live in. But Cadbury Schweppes continues to own both 7Up and Pepper regardless.
Guest Flyboy Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Although, I HATE HATE HATE HATE Pepsi (the drink is disgusting), they take this one simply because they make Mountain Dew: Code Red.
Guest MarvinisaLunatic Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 (edited) Pepsi is beginning to get desperate by ripping off anything Coke does well, IE the lemon flavored version (although they made a regular and a diet vs Cokes only diet lemon) and now they are close to releasing Vanilla pepsi. Pepsi is also obviously ridding itself of excess slice mix by calling it Mt Dew Livewire. Overall : Sprite is better than Sierra Mist (almost a no contes.) Mt. Dew is better than Mellow Yellow (Mellow Yellow Mellon and Cherry are pretty good) Regular Lipton Brisk is better than Regular Nestea (Nestea flavored teas are awesome) Mug and Barqs are pretty much equal (I like A&W Rootbeer myself) Minute Maid owns Slice (its terrible to compare the two though) Overall, I say Coke has the better product line overall. And that chocolate flavored (fill in the brand) is very close to getting a test market I hear. I can't wait to see how that works out. I've tried diet (fill in the brand) with hershey's syrup and it was different, but that wont be how the final product is made obviously, and if I used regular sodas and the syrup, it would be way too sweet. Im sure they'll use artificial chocolate flavor as well... Edited June 17, 2003 by MarvinisaLunatic
Guest SweetNSexyDiva Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Ugh... I normally vote coke any day, but unfortunately I have to vote for the side with Mountain Dew.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 I can't decide. With Coke: Coke, Vanilla Coke, Diet Coke w/ lemon, Cherry Coke, Dt. Cherry Coke. With Pepsi: Mt. Dew, Dt. Mt. Dew, Red Dew, Dt. Red Dew, Pepsi Twist I can't pick...
Guest nl5xsk1 Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 I have a question about this whole Dr Pepper thing ... isn't it regionally decided? When I was in Colorado I think I used to get Pepper while at Burger King, but when I would come back to Massachusetts, Pepper wasn't an option. (or vice versa, it was a long time ago and I haven't eaten at BK in about 4 years)
Guest treble charged Posted June 17, 2003 Report Posted June 17, 2003 Coke edges out Pepsi, for me. I prefer Coke, Cherry Coke, and Vanilla Coke over their Pepsi counterparts, but 7-Up is a lot better than Sprite, IMO.
Guest CanadianChris Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Does the Crush line not exist in the States? Orange and Grape Crush and Crush Cream Soda all own. That's what puts Pepsi products over the top for me.
Guest MaxPower27 Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Does the Crush line not exist in the States? Orange and Grape Crush and Crush Cream Soda all own. That's what puts Pepsi products over the top for me. We have it, but it's hard to find in some places. I don't have it near me, so good cream soda is hard to get.
Guest Choken One Posted June 19, 2003 Report Posted June 19, 2003 Pepsi wins because I got it for free...
