Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/new...hp?news_id=6862 There was reportedly a major backstage problem between Goldberg and Vince McMahon at Raw last week. The booking for the June 9 edition of Raw was largely to bury Goldberg, either out of spite or just in some kind of attempt to put heat on Jericho for the PPV match. Goldberg was scheduled to squash Rosey, then Jericho would run in and injure Goldberg’s hand. Goldberg would have left the arena, then came back and been laid out in an interview backstage with Terri. Goldberg showed up to the arena, and refused that script. Goldberg and Mcmahon had to instead work out a compromise where Goldberg wouldn’t look as weak. Goldberg’s contract is reported to be $1.5 million for one year with 6 dates per month. He had heat with management over whether or not he would go to the UK for the Insurrextion show as well. Goldberg is still expected to face HHH at Summerslam for the World Title, although it is not a lock HHH will lose the title. There are some who believe WWE would prefer if they could get out of the contract with Goldberg. There's also a report that he's "on a warpath" after Linda called him disappointing. See you in Japan, 'Berg.
Guest Nevermortal Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Fuck. HHH will never lose that belt.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Any impartial and rational person would consider Goldberg's run so far as disappointing. Fuck Goldberg. Maybe if WWE didn't throw an ex-WCW guy many fans don't remember into the main event of a PPV for his first match against one of the most popular wrestlers ever, he might not have gotten this reaction.
Guest bps "The Truth" 21 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 As soon as the Y2J chants started in the Goldberg/Jericho match my friend turned to me and said "HHH just got out of jobbing at Summerslam"
ChrisMWaters Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I've said it before and I'll say it again. Goldberg = Beta Version Brock Lesnar. That is all.
Guest RavishingRickRudo Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Wow, 72 dates for 1.5 Million...
Guest wrestlingbs Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Ha ha. Goldberg joins Scott Hall as one of the few WCW "sure things" that blew up in their faces. While I wanted to see Goldberg succeed, this backstage shit is too much. Plus it has become obvious that a part of Vince wants to see him fail.
Guest Nunzio Cardozo Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 The Goldberg/HHH match at Summerslam should be a Buried Alive match.
Guest AndrewTS Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 As soon as the Y2J chants started in the Goldberg/Jericho match my friend turned to me and said "HHH just got out of jobbing at Summerslam" Seeing Goldberg get the Steiner treatment would be hilarious.
Guest Jobber of the Week Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 The Goldberg/HHH match at Summerslam should be a Buried Alive match. If they're serious about getting out of Fuck Goldberg's contract, and they put him in a match against HHH, I'd be kind of scared for HHH. I don't like the guy, but Fuck Goldberg is going to stiff the hell out of the guy (hello, Bret) if he knows he's going to get squashed and let go. Though I figure they'll keep him around long enough to do Fuck Goldberg vs Fuck Austin, or Fuck Goldberg vs Donkey Kong. ChrisMWaters: Goldberg = Beta Version Brock Lesnar. Has DK been a complete shithead backstage though? He hasn't been booked to look weak, but a few reports of "getting a big head" (which was probably deflated by the botched SSP anyway) is all we've heard.
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 The Goldberg/HHH match at Summerslam should be a Buried Alive match. This has been your best post thus far. And I would mark out for that match for the stiffness from both guys, and to see who really is buried alive (kayfabe wise).
Guest The Decadent Slacker Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Goldberg=Nailz 2K3. god i hope so.
ChrisMWaters Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 ChrisMWaters: Goldberg = Beta Version Brock Lesnar. Has DK been a complete shithead backstage though? See, that's one of the bugs that was in the original model, code named Goldberg: huge backstage ego. Version 2, the "Lesnar" model, had that deflated a bit...replaced by better ring work
Guest Human Fly Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 After all we have been hearing about I highly doubt that Goldberg will win the title. They will build him up for the "money match" with HHH at which point Goldberg will lose cleanly, After SS I would not be surprised if Goldberg and WWE are done with each other.
Bored Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 As soon as the Y2J chants started in the Goldberg/Jericho match my friend turned to me and said "HHH just got out of jobbing at Summerslam" The thought crossed my mind as well...and well to go with the fact Linda buried him publicly. All that will be left for HHH is Brock Lesnar and well that can't have a good ending to it.
Guest JMA Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Lesnar is ten times the worker Goldberg is. Period.
Guest JMA Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 The Goldberg/HHH match at Summerslam should be a Buried Alive match. I agree. Jericho could do a run-in, knock them both senseless with a shovel, and bury them both. I would enjoy that.
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Somewhat shocking(in case it's too small to read, enlarge) If you guys think their relationship is getting heated, I just spotted this while floating around 411. They say it was taken down soon after it was up on the website, but it does make me wonder why they put it up in the first place. EDIT: the headline is right below the Bad Blood intro
Guest Trivia247 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 As soon as the Y2J chants started in the Goldberg/Jericho match my friend turned to me and said "HHH just got out of jobbing at Summerslam" Seeing Goldberg get the Steiner treatment would be hilarious. Hell im starting to see more improvement with Steiner, at least his demeanor with the fans and it was obvious that he needed to be Midcarded before Main evented. Steiner asides being broken down and slow has more an excuse than Goldberg because he is a Actual wrestler. Did anyone see like I did Goldberg get in the face of the Y2J fan.... and Here I thought he said a month or so ago that he didn't care if the fans cheered or booed him because they paid money to see him and they had a right to do what they want. as Far as the Match with Jericho was concerned, the Mission is accomplished for Jericho's Vindication. Jericho stated in almost Shoot fashion that all he wanted was a Match with Goldberg that wasn't a 5 minute squash, Win or lose he at least wanted not to look like he was anything less than equal opponent to him. A concept foreign to Goldberg's experience in WCW as a "wrestler" btw Im glad my favorite line that symbolizes Goldberg's behavior in the WWE has spread beyond my own posts and topics Sorry Goldberg, they are not FUCKING serving Imported Water!
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 That headline isn't real, right? EDIT: Thought so.
Guest Lightning Flik Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 That headline isn't real, right? Hence why I went nevermind. I checked out WWE.com Ain't there.
Guest chirs3 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Dunno. A reader saw it when he went to the website looking for Bad Blood results, and it was taken down like 10 minutes later. So the guy on 411 reports, anywho. I dunno how to tell if it's a fake or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if it had been WWE's doing, if only as a threat maybe?
Agent_Bond34 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Should they get out of this contract with Goldberg, hopefully for the WWE's sake, they won't have to pay him to sit on his ass at home, like AOL-Time Warner did when WCW went under in 2001.
Guest chirs3 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 Here's the 411 blurb on the picture. Hot off the presses… courtesy of Widro as of 12:36 am est: Fan sent a letter… he went to the WWE website to check on the Badd Blood results and found this: Goldberg and WWE end Contractual Relationship World Wrestling Entertainment inc and Bill Goldberg have mutually agreed to end their contractual relationship. The WWE wishes Goldberg the best of luck in future endeavors Ten minutes later, the blurb was gone from the site. The reader had taken the picture and sent it to Widro as proof. It was there alright… see for yourself. A prank? If it is, it’s not like the whole ScoopThis/Bradshaw thing… I have no knowledge of it.
Guest Austin3164life Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I don't know, they did pay Shawn Michaels a lot of money to wait around and make sporadic appearances.
Guest Human Fly Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I wonder if maybe there was an argument between Vince and Goldberg and that was the result, and then cooler heads prevailed. Or it could just be a photoshop. Or they got Goldberg to agree to job to someone tomorrow night. If HHH v. Goldberg is tomorow night you now that he is gone.
Guest chirs3 Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I wonder if maybe there was an argument between Vince and Goldberg and that was the result, and then cooler heads prevailed. Or it could just be a photoshop. That's what I'm wondering. I have no way to tell if it was photoshopped, was hoping someone here could. I don't know how those things work.
Guest Choken One Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 But at least Shawn EARNED it for putting effort for them for 10 years... What did Goldberg do? NOTHING. exactly.
Guest Big McLargeHuge Posted June 16, 2003 Report Posted June 16, 2003 I don't see anything on 411 about Goldberg's "dismissal". I hope it's real. Then they'll be forced to push Jericho or Booker, right?
